How do you like 762SD? Have you used it yet on a 5.56?
I'm personally tired of seeing MK8s, but I obviously have different aesthetic priorities because I'm also tired of seeing clones. I don't know much about .300blk ballistics so maybe you can illuminate the subject a bit. Why not go for a super short barrel? I feel like you can still get decent ballistics with an 8.5" or something far below what 5.56 practically allows for.
K2 grip is good to go but please no CTR. Tired of seeing those also.

I've used the 762SD on a different .300blk, it does pretty nice. I don't want a shorter barrel because I don't like braces and don't want to wait for an SBR stamp right now. And I just kinda like the CTR.

Like I said I'm pretty sure rotational inertia goes with the lever arm length squared, so a longer chain will go further than a heavier chain for reducing swing.

Where the barrel extension goes into the receiver there are 4 small scratches where the anodization is gone. Pic related.

>>34753806
Does your point of aim match your point of impact at your chosen zero distance? If so, then no adjustment is required. If, on the other hand, where your shots are hitting the target do not match where you are aiming in regards to elevation then you need to adjust.
Ex: I use a 50/200m zero on my rifle. If I aim dead center on the target placed at 200m and shoot properly then my impact should hit dead center, right? If it hits 4" high, I'll adjust the front sight post up which will push my barrel and the bullet impact down until my aim meets the impact. Understand?

Actually the build won't be that different than what I have now, but just more gucci and a few changes.
Biggest change will be going from 14.5" midlength gas to 14" carbine gas. Want lots of gas for BFS. I might end up regretting it though because I also want to can host and 14" carbine with can is going to be a ton of fucking gas. Possible too much. Then I'll have to go adjustable gas block.
Billet lower this time. Different stock and grip of course. Different irons. I want to get the new BCM MMR, but I'm afraid it won't come in the right length, and I don't want to do a 13" rail on a 14" barrel.
On that note, do adjustable gas blocks actually work or are they universally a pain in the ass or ineffective? Giddy?

Careful with it and really think it out. I personally think FDE accents, and even an entire FDE rifle can look good, but it needs to be done right. I wanted to do FDE accents but FA and A2 said it would look ugly. Taupe will be better than FDE simply by virtue of it being darker.

The ECOS actually looks pretty decent with the MCT magazines and both the M600 and the tan m952v, so I'm thinking the FDE LMT stock will be pretty close. B5 Coyote will be a bit darker. The Taupe should be pretty close to LMT's FDE
That said, I liked the ECOS and mags being the only tan/fde on my other ergodynamic build. Plus its' the cerakoted fde and not the anodized fde which makes it easier.

Are these meme barrels or are they actually worth buying over a chf and traditionally chrome lined bcm, dd, fn, etc? They come with an already pinned gas block which is a plus for me since drilling nitrided barrels isn't that fun and eats up anything but expensive carbide bits.
Would there be any drawbacks to using a rifle length upper on a carbine lower with an H2 buffer?

It isn't really. It's just time for a new barrel since after 4 years my standard bcm has started to open up considerably.
>>34754642
Are you going to explain or are you shitposting?
>>34754622
Each have their pros and cons. One that not many realize is that chrome lining is inconsistent down its length causing accuracy issues as compared to an unlined barrel regardless of its make-up. But chrome lining is more resistant to wear and corrosion than a QPQ/ Melonite/ nitride barrel, which if you were wondering are three names for the same process.
Hammer forging also has pros and cons, hammer forging will mold the grain structure of the steel around the lands and grooves of the rifling typically making it more durable. But cut rifling can produce a more accurate barrel.
Ex: most higher accuracy barrels are unlined and have cut rifling. but a more durable barrel will be hammer forged and lined.
To me an ideal barrel would be hammer forged and then nitrided. Giving an increase in wear resistance, moderate corrosion resistance, midlevel accuracy all the while remaining comparatively cheap.
>>34754696
>Are you going to explain or are you shitposting?
Huge price increase for worse accuracy and negligible increase in barrel life when compared to nitride.

>>34754899
gf and I are planning an Alaskan cruise for next year then spending an extra week or so up there before coming back. Pretty pumped about it.
>>34754706
My primary concerns are longevity and lower weight. Specifically, maintaining a reasonable standard of accuracy over time regardless of firing schedule (within reason of course) with a thinner profile. I'd prefer to keep thickness at the gas port at .750 which rules out a lot of the lightweight barrels on the market.
I've got a recce upper that shoots beautifully, but the barrel alone weighs just over 2 lbs and I never fire repetitive quick strings or dump mags through it. When I wear this one out it'll be getting replaced with a lilja, which I'm sure I'll baby even more.
>>34754716
Gotcha. The difference in price is pretty much negilible to me but I understand where you're coming from.
>>34754920
>recce upper that shoots beautifully, but the barrel alone weighs just over 2 lbs
that's not a recce upper
>>34754504
Yeah. It's pretty light and the accuracy is superb for the price. I've been very pleased with it's performance compared to my friend's RRA. After shooting my rifle, he decided to go BA for his 308 AR build.
I like the way the Samson looks, and it would be a change of pace from the mk8 everyone else has, but it uses a standard barrel nut, so it wouldn't really even be a performance upgrade, I just thought it looked neat, and I don't care for the amount of exposed barrel I have with the ALG. I'll probably just keep saving for a monolithic upper. I really like the look of VLTOR's VIS3, and it's within my budget but it would push the new optic back for a while. The mk8 is on my radar if I can pick a 13" or 15" for cheap because I really like the barrel nut, but it's not really a priority.
>>34754917
