Just ordered this gun. M&P 15 with MOE Mlok. Got it on gun deals for $469, free shipping. My first AR

You did great. Buy 2000 rounds of ammo now and get shooting.
>>
>>34748281
This. Congrats OP.
>>
>>34748281
>>34748293
Thank you guys. Very excited. Thought it was a good deal, just wanted to make sure.
>>
>>34748276
Pretty good price for an M&P15 even for a post-election price; most I see are around the $500 ballpark.
>>
>>34748276
My latest gun purchase was $399 for a Palmetto CHF rifle kit (sale) and $59 for a blem stripped lower (not on sale). Shipping was free on both orders and my FFL's transfer fee is only $10. I also picked up a used Spikes Tactical carry handle rear sight on ebay for $70 (although to directly compare, you can get a Magpul BUIS for $30). Total of $540 out of pocket for a mil-spec AR with a chrome-lined bore with the only catch being that I have to put it together myself, so I'd say that you did pretty average.

Yeah, I have to spend a total of 30 minutes to put the lower together, so what? It's easy to learn to do, and if you know how to do it, it doesn't take any effort. Were you one of those kids who never played with legos?
>>

You've never built a lower.
And you bought a PSA.
And you bought a 16" carbine.

It's not about full auto rating. It's about durability in the short to medium term.

>>34748807
Well, I don't know what you're talking about because I've owned six PSA uppers and 4 of their lowers. As long as you get their premium uppers, and not the bottom of the barrel PTAC, then they are good to go. You seem to have prepared all of your posts as if to make a first time buyer feel as bad as you do.

Just learn to use your irons before you go putting a bunch of unnecessary faggy mall ninja bullshit on it.

Front hand guard cap came loose before 500 rounds, ambi-defender lower (non blem) came blemished and had 1/4 inch creep in the polished nickel trigger.
The upper is very loose on ANY lower.
There are much better companies.
>>
Nice job. I got a PSA freedom AR with magpul MOE stuff for 500 after the election.

Generally speaking any decent AR is a whole lot of gun for 500 dollars. Learn to clean it, learn to load it properly, clear jams and most importantly to shoot it.

This is a must read for all new AR owners. It's based around the M16A2 which is about as close to a civillian AR15 as the army ever fielded. Goes over all the basics of both maintenance and marksmanship.
http://pdf.textfiles.com/manuals/MILITARY/united_states_marine_mrcp_3-1a%20-%2023_feb_1999%20-%20part01.pdf

Stick with irons to start. AR irons are the best stock sights out there if you ask me. If you are going to use your AR for a home defense role (which they are great for), get a foregrip, a light and some good HD ammo (XM193 is actually decent by itself, but PDX1 or Varmit ammo works best)

Don't mall ninja it out too much. Just shoot it.
>>
I'm looking to buy my first AR. I was hoping for under $500. Is this a good deal or junk?

https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/2084_2108/products_id/30268/ATI+Omni+Hybrid+MAXX+5.56+Semi-Automatic+223+Remington5.56+NATO+16

I'm watching YT vids on it so far ppl seem to like it.
>>
>>34749050
It's a polymer lower, probably with a steel insert where the buffer tube attaches.
I'd stay away, but that's just me.
I'd also stay away from bud's gun shop, but that's also just me
>>
>>34749103
Yeah it does have steel inserts and polymer lower.

I was also looking at the Del-Ton DT
>>
469 is a great deal.
>>
Built my first AR back in february using a PSA MOE rifle kit, paid around $500 for everything, and I got to gain intimate knowledge of how the rifle works while putting it together.
Everything went better than expected.

You did good OP, now you just need a quality optic to slap on that sumbitch.
I recommend the Vortex Sparc AR, because that's what I use, but that's just me personally.

Oh yeah, and buy a case of cheap XM855 for plinking ammo when you can find it. I got 420 rounds earlier this year for around $120.

>>34749050
It's the lower I used, I'm probably over 500 rounds through the pipe since I built mine, never any problems out of it.
It is a polymer lower yes, but as mentioned it does have aluminum inserts in the area of the buffer tube collar.
YT video reviews seem mostly positive, I've personally had no problems with it, seems like a solid lower to me.
>>
>>34748319
Damn, that's an awesome deal for a very solid AR. I'd recommend ordering 1000 rounds from this link; comes in a neat ammo can for easy storage.

https://www.targetsportsusa.com/magtech-cbc-556-nato-m193-55-gr-fmj-1000-rds-ammo-can-556mil-p-76208.aspx
>>
>>34749050
Eh, I'd spend the extra money on something like this.

https://www.fwtguns.com/sav-msr-15-blackhawk-223wld-16-30rd

I still don't quite trust Polymer lowers (too many stories of them kabooming). The Savage Patrol is a pretty good deal on the market right now; you get upgraded furniture, a midlength nitrided barrel, and good iron sights out of the box.
>>
>>34748276

Nice choices. I like your style and thanks for responding. Looks like a simple and rugged no-nonsense setup.

I went and gave no real consideration to weight, so mine's about 9lbs empty.
Here's my build:
- Anderson upper and lower with RF85 treated BCG parts so no real lubrication is needed, though I use a dry spray lube anyway.
- Parallax Tactical 17.7" Handguard
- Lothar Walther LW50 18" Heavy barrel (2.5lbs) with an adjustable low profile gas block and a KinetiTech compensator w/BFD
- Magpul UBR with Strike Ind. flatwire buffer spring and a Spikes ST-T2 heavy buffer
- Geissele SSA trigger
- DI Optical RSD and Vortex 3x magnifier
>>
>>34750543
Sorry. Typo. DI Optical RDS.

Nice rifle anon, the Giessele, was a good choice. I kinda like how our dream ARs are both on different spectrums as far as use goes. How's that heavy barrel shoot?
I threw the holosom paralow,ACSS with magnifier on mine and shoot out to 400yrds with it.
>>
>>34750543
That's a sexy gun, how do you like that parallax handguard?
>>
>>34750543
You ever consider a lpvo for that? It would probably be perfect for a 18in SPR like this
>>
>>34750643
Comfy as fuck and it fit exactly how I wanted it to. About 1/8 of an inch of the barrel protrudes beyond the handguard. Get one if you can.
>>
>>34750645
Well, I'm planning on also getting an Athlon Optics Argos BTR 6-24x50 scope for it so I can cover all my bases. I went RDS + magnifier for a wider range of capability.
>>
>>34748978
>hand guard cap came loose
Well, that sucks, although I'm not really sure how it could happen. Does the front hardguard cap even have any room to wiggle around? What went wrong?

>non-blem lower came blemished
I've only bought blem lowers and I've yet to find a blemish. Sucks to find blemishes on supposedly non-blem products, but that isn't the norm for PSA lowers.

>1/4 inch creep in trigger
The problem with exaggeration is that the rest of your post becomes less credible. No, it didn't have a quarter fucking inch of creep. The design doesn't allow that much creep.

>the upper is loose
That's normal and doesn't affect anything.

The weight plus the compensator (and also the fact that it's just a 223/556 round means runs flatter than Keira Knightley.

Furthermore, because the UBR is a rather heavy stock, it, combined with the optics, helped balance the whole rifle out to where the fulcrum is right in front of the mag-well.
