So the title pretty much says it all. I am a mechanical engineering student, and I want to start a small arms company after I graduate, with the ultimate goal of selling my company to Ruger, Freedom Group, or another conglomerate.

Anyways, I have an idea for a gun design never marketed or sold before. Suicide Resistant. As you all know, firearms are used by many people per year to kill themselves. From chronically losing burnouts to depressed bullied children. This is why I believe 4chan is my market. So, would you buy suicide resistant versions of your favorite guns?

The proprietary technology includes the use of suicide resistant barrels. The longest human wingspan is 8' 6", and by making the barrels 4' 3"; no one will be able to shoot themselves with the firearms. Of course, one may still shoot themselves with their toe on the trigger, which is why I will also market an 'enhanced suicide resistance' version, with barrels 8' 11"; to account for the tallest person on Earth.

Of course someone can still remotely trigger the weapon, which is why they are only suicide resistant, not suicide proof. Where there is a will there is a way, so obviously I can't say they will prevent all suicides for liability reasons.

>pic related is a concept picture to demonstrate what I'm going for.

I think it's sad that a thread died for this.

Brilliant.
Do it.
>>
>>34747050
This is quite brilliant, actually
maybe someday you can understand the genius behind this design philosopy
>>

Engineering students are the fucking worst. Please fuck off to your containment CAD thread
>>
>>34747028
what if we made a gun that cant shoot living tissue.
>>
>>34747028
Are you planning on offering any CC holster options or are you going to work with the market leaders like Galco and Alien Gear to supply them?
>>
Just ban all guns duh

How did you acquire renders of the enhanced suicide resistant version? I have not publicly shown it yet? That is corporate espionage. Who do you work for?

Expect a C&D

Suck on little boy millennium egg howaito devil gwailo scum. Peasant burger patent means nothing to China.
Suicide resistant gun is Chinese now. China wirr grow rarger

what would even happen to a .223 if you shot it through a barrel longer than like 30"
>>
>>34747028
You're a stupid fuck-nut. The people on /k/ that WANT to kill themselves, LIKE that the gun is available, and waiting at any time. It's comforting enough that it keeps some of them from doing it, and if you're really a shill and not just a troll, lurk moar faggot.

P.S. Kurt cobain killed himself a with full length shotgun, you can pull a trigger with your feet, even in shoes.

Holocausts like the world has never seen.

OP, bring back guns that aren't manufactured anymore. Do shit like a martini Henry in 45-70, or other things people may be interested in.
>>
>>34747300
Because it would be the first one
>>
>>34747347
No. I dont want to look to the past, i want to build guns for the future- longer than any before.
>>
>>34747028

>buy suicide prevention gun
>want to suicide anyway
>go to hardware store and buy a $10 hacksaw
>problem solved

But really, besides the logistics of moving such weapons around (long packages are expensive to ship), all it's going to take is one lawsuit from someone shooting subsonic in the barrel and the shit getting stuck.

There's a better way to do what you're wanting, but I think I might patent the shit because I just thought of it. Sry. :(
>>
>>34747454
How? I guess I could just make the barrel longer.
>>
>>34747265
Why don't snipers use something like this?
>>
>>34747486
Its an assault rifle, not a sniper rifle. See the thing that goes up?
>>
>>34747028
>Duct tape gun to table
>Tie string around trigger
>Run string through sling loop on stock
>Deepthroat barrel
>Pull string

Shit idea defeated by a household string
>>
>>34747486
snipers don use it because it becomes to unwieldy even for a sniper and because u dont get dat much more speed with longer barrels (diminishing returns) usually 24 inches of barrel is the maximum for snipers. the limit of speed is usually 3400 fps for nitrocellulose ammo.
>>
Will be mandatory for all guns in California.
>>
>>34747630
I already said it can be circumvented like that. Otherwise I would call it suicide proof. Its a subtle difference but key when defending lawsuits.
>>
>>34747630
Owning string and guns is a felony friend.

Just use a fucking ladder in the garage. Engineer btfo.
>>
>>34747649
Trying to make a suicide resistant gun is a stupid idea. It's like those magnetic "smart" guns. Unless it's cheaper than a normal gun the free market will not pay attention to it
>>
>>34747668
No the goal is to make it mandatory in California and Massachusetts. Then license the technology to other manufacturers.
>>
>>34747656
Hmmm... Ops idea just got a lot better. If you wanted to kill yourself with his gun you'd have the hassle of finding a pre 86 string or getting an SOT to register said string so most people would just continue living because of the extreme wait times and the money
>>
>>34747691
or just......neck yourself with the 80% assault string.
>>
>>34747696
It's not a complete string though
>>
>>34747265

>>
>>34747723
So I can also market it on late night informercials as exercise equipment.
>>
>>34747703

No, it's a complete string, just 80% made of assault fibres. You know, those black fibers with the bit that goes up and the lug and the pistol grip.
>>
>>34747735
>not having 200ft of assault para cord ready to go
>>
>>34747818
Thats a high capacity string. Good luck getting it without an any other string stamp
>>
>>34747028
No. That's absolutely retarded in every way. Why invent a suicide proof gun if guns that you can kill yourself with already exist? Why would someone who is having suicidal thoughts purchase a rifle specifically made so they can't off themselves with it? Are you mentally challenged?
>>
>>34747845
>resistent
>>
>>34747853
>resistant
>doesn't resist a god damn thing
My fuck

Being suicide proof was actually part of the design of the Arisaka rifles, dictating its length. The nips have a certain propensity towards suicide with their silly honor stuff, they did it so that the soldiers would actually fight to the end rather than kill themselves honorably at the first sign of defeat. The nip infantry ended up tying the triggers to their toes with string.
>>
>>34747684
You want to license obscenely long barrels?
>>
>>34748127
Yes. Proprietary suicide prevention barrels.
>>
>>34748149
What is proprietary about them
>>
>>34747028
Well what if someone has a stick to poke the trigger?
>>
>>34747028
You may have killed me from laughing OP
>>

Now OP has to design some sort of meme trigger to keep it from being activated with strings or sticks.
