the b2707 was supposed to be superior to the Concorde in every way, but the government cut funding to it because of lockmart's lobbyists

>>34746877
Would have never made money. Same problem that doomed the concorde.
>>34747162
9/11, internet and rising fuel costs killed concorde 2.
The real bummer was they spend millions to fix the damn hing and then no one want to fly in it any more
>>34746434
Well, covering it all in shitty filters, fullscreen watermarks shitty techno music isn't exactly aesthetic.
Plus a majority of the most popular planes pre-date the 80s.
>>34747142
Hero unit: "mig Eater"
5 Conflicts 180+ operational sorties.
this one was supposedly flown by a spiritual man hence his call sign.
the single men started namesaking their planes after the wives of the married men to piss them off
>>34747285
I remember reading about some pilot during WW2 who tracked down this Italian ace's wife and painted him on the side of his plane just to provoke the Ace. Or something like that.
If anyone has more info on it I'd like it because I can't find it anywhere
the married men got their own back by doing the single mens future wives, - strippers
>>34746899
There were proposals for a bombcorde.
>>34746955
Also so nice dubs.
>tfw there is no cute anime girls version of this picture of them playing in the foam either naked or in swimsuits
names after a strip club rather than a stripper
Someone either didn't get the memo, or failed to do a paint so his mates did it for him...
Thank you, thank you thats all for tonight folks.
H-hey guys, can I join too?

>the b2707 was supposed to be superior to the Concorde in every way, but the government cut funding to it because of lockmart's lobbyists
No, it got funding cut because it was a clusterfuck of the highest magnitude.
Boeing beat out Lockheed's L-2000 proposal (itself looking mostly like a scaled up Concorde going Mach 3) with the 2707-100 (pic related). But the 2707-100 was retardedly complicated. You had a double-jointed drooping nose, swing wings with incredibly complcated high lift devices, engines mounted on a massive tail, and landing gear that dropped in front of the inboard intakes, requiring auxiliary intake ports for the inboard engines.
Fortunately for everyone, Boeing ended up dropping the 2707-100 when it became clear that aeroelastic effects on the fuselage made the design unworkable. They then shifted to a completely new design (2707-200, which would later carry on to the '90s-era HSCT). Lockheed's complaint here was valid - the originally contracted design was no longer in consideration, so it's unfair to let Boeing keep the contract without having to reevaluate to ensure that they still have the superior design.
And no, it wasn't Lockheed lobbying that killed the 2707. It was the fact that SSTs just weren't economically feasible at the time. Hell, Boeing even turned around and started lobbying to try to kill the Concorde once the US SST program came to an end, which is why we've got the FAA restriction on overland supersonic flight to this day.
