I've come to wonder, are all Mosins with bent bolt handles the product of inbred Bubbas and Fudds with no regard for the weapon? Or were some manufactured that way? Is it an inherently bad thing for the bolt handle to be bent?

It's just so the bolt handle will have enough clearance to work with a scope. Of all the bubba modifications to be offended by, this one is the most innocuous. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the sniper mosins were manufactured that way.

The sniper variants, PU, PE, and PEM all came from the factories with bent handles. It's the only way they could clear the scopes that were mounted.

Bubba's and fudds would use the ATI bent handles. There are repro bent bolt handles out on the market for an original milspec look, but bubba and fudd usually don't go that route because of the higher cost
