Considering that there were only about 1,000 men on screen during the whole thing, 2-3 non-whites is accurate.

Also, the majority of the few Indian soldiers present were Hindu, not muslim, which is further proof of pandering.

Not that anon, but two things. Firstly, you can't claim a film is 'whitewashed' and then try and palm burden of proof on someone else. There needs to be a statistically significant number of non-whites for it to be an issue. You need to prove your claim.

In any case, in the BEF order of battle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Expeditionary_Force_order_of_battle_(1940)), I can find not one single unit that does not hail from a traditionally white nation. That is not to say that there weren't some foreigners serving with the British units, but it clearly means that the dominant portrayed ethnicity can fairly be white British without any other justification.

This also does rather pose the question - are people obsessed with 'whitewashing' themselves guilty of a mistruth, which is to attempt to shoehorn in races that do not belong in a setting? We would rightly condemn whites being forced into a film about 13th-century China, where there inclusion makes no sense and does not develop the plot, but surely the same condemnation can be levelled against those who would demand that every film about, say, 12th-century Germany contain a grossly inflated number of Chinese people?
