It's here, the SCAR is history. The future is now.

''In truth we held our MDR launch party on July 21 and delivered the first production MDR to Derek Johnson from Texas. Derek waited on the phone on hold with our office for several hours to be the very first person to order an MDR. We will be sharing the MDR launch video with everyone late next week after marketing finishes compiling it.''

Is it? Most shooting happens under 300m, which can easily be accomplished by a 13" SCAR, which is short and light enough for all but the closest quarters.
>>
>>34744256
Yea but your argument is faster reloads. I'd take better 5.56 velocities, which is critical for 5.56 to function properly, over a .5 second faster reload. M193 ammo will ice pick ALOT at 300 yards out of an 13" barrel. Not so much out of something like a 20" AUG which is the same length as a 13" Scar.

>>34744330
I agree that bullpups make sense for 5.56 and other velocity-thirsty cartridges that suffer in short barrels, but one of the main selling points of the MDR is its native .308 support, which is why I compared it to the SCAR-H CQC.
The MDR doesn't bring much to the table for 5.56 shooters when the RDB already exists.
>>
>>34743610
RFB is an unreliable design, they need to make an RDB in 308.

The only reason anyone ever has a problem with the RFB is he's either too stupid to properly perform maintenance, particularly lubrication, and he's too stupid to properly adjust the gas setting.
>>
>>34748690
Wtf is with the thread right by the gas adjustment? Looks pointless. And wtf length of pull seems outrageous.
>>
>>34744419
>>34744463

Mine works just fine too. Doesn't have any problems cycling unless you under-gas it.

Gets a solid 1.5MOA average with PMC 147, 1.3 with Sellior and Bellot 147, and 0.85 with a load I've just started making myself.

I did have to send it back to Kel-Tec for a new barrel after a few years, but they were quick about it and you can buy most other replacement parts and do it yourself if anything else wears out.
>>
>>34748734
The threading is so you can attach a small quad rail section. So yeah, mostly pointless unless you're an accessories fag. The LOP is somewhere around 14 inches, so it's pretty standard.
>>
>>34748734
It's used to attach a quad rail. It changes barrel harmonics, but not that much because the barrel is already rigidly pinned in two places.
>>
>>34748734
>length of pull
Not a real issue on rifles with pistol grips unless you're built like a child.

>wtf is a thing i'm ignorant of so i'll just assume it's pointless
It's a barrel accessory thread, so it's the opposite of pointless.

Now that we've confirmed you're an ignorant, butthurt faggot, kindly fuck off.

I suppose it would be fair to ask why Kel-Tec hasn't released an MLOK handguard for it since then, but the answer to that one is fairly obvious.

Injection molding is going to always be cheaper than milling. Initial startup is a bitch but once your going you can produce product very fast.
>>
>>34744463
The very least they could do is change it to feed out of AR10 mags.
>>
>>34743819
For me it's the universally shit triggers, I've owned 2 that supposedly had the "best" triggers of all bullpups (FS2000 and Tavor with Geissele Super Sabra) and they are literally worse than a milspec AK trigger. Heavy, mushy, gritty, and long.

Accuracy has been a sore issue for some, the Tavor, X95, RFB, and FS2000 have exhibited mediocre to piss poor accuracy. I was generally happy with my FS2000's accuracy (1.8-2.0 MOA 5-shot groups) but my Tavor was dogshit bad (6 MOA or worse 5 shot groups), the RFB is par for the course for "battle rifles" at 2-2.5 MOA, etc. Meanwhile even a bargain bin AR can do 2 MOA and an AR at the same price point of even the cheapest of the bullpups will be sub-MOA.

Ergos and reloads were fine for me with mine.

They're extremely difficult to shoot well from prone or off a bench because there's literally nowhere to rest the rifle on anything and the mag has a tendency to be the first or only point of contact with the ground.
>>
>>34749608
Haha, but I've been able to shoot my RFB since 2011.

Maybe once the MDR actually hits the market in force you can make genuine comparisons, but for now (unless you're that one dude in the picture), she's just a dream competing against my well broken in rifle.
>>
>>34749721
It's ok, I have other guns. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on something second rate.
>>
>>34749697
Well spoken and well reasoned.

... but I disagree.

Now I can only speak for my RFB. I have no other bullpup. That said, the trigger is good... 8/10 for a non- precision rifle, I can get 1.5 MOA from the right factory ammo (disregarding reloads for now), and with a 20 round magazine you can still get plenty low to the ground.

RFB actually has a very specifically made trigger that places the sear directly above the trigger. Most other bullpups have a bar that extends back and interfaces with the sear that is beneath the hammer.

So if other bullups had the RFB's trigger, they would have a lot better feel. Kudos to KelTec for having a nice design.
>>
>>34749627
For something the size of a rifle, especially with so many small details, the cost of the mold can be hundreds of thousands. The point where it becomes more cost-effective is fucking huge. I they don't already have military orders, they may never actually reach that point.

The bong qualification is similar to the US Army qualification, but they also get a fuckload more training before they have to actually pass it (1 full year) and pretty much cant get kicked out if they fail it (unlike the US where your first record qual happens a massive 5 weeks into the military).

I stand by my previous statement.
I have no doubt that it mitigates a good deal of recoil, but a 5.45 with a muzzle brake is practically recoil-free to begin with.
It's an interesting idea, but it seems better suited to battle rifles and LMGs, i.e., everywhere except where it's actually being implemented.

Bullpups are gay and if you think the only thing that happened is the magwell moved you have no understanding of the gun.

Chamber is right in your fucking face and you have a LOOOOOONG trigger bar which equals a shitty trigger pull and a very basic component to break and instantly render your gun out of the fight

Coventional mag placement is a scam. It's like sticking to bows and arrows when guns are available. Coventional mag placement is the nascar of mag placements. It's slow, outdated and oldfashioned.
