Hey /k/, first time gun buyer here.
Need a cheap yet reliable rifle that shoots moderately powerful rounds. Milsurp encouraged, (no mosins, too hard to find in good condition for cheap)
>>34739642
AR15
>>34739642
ARs are as cheap as they get right now. Milsurp is dead.
Lurk more.
>>34739642
>buy AR lower
>buy AR upper
>>34739656
>>34739650
Sadly, this.
ARs will probably continue to drop in price until the next election cycle, but holy shit there's literally no reason to get one now or at least until halfway through this presidency.
Milsurp IS dead.
It's been too long since we had a real war.
There is no more Milsurp.

Legit thought this was Brendan Frasier.
I have nothing else to add to this thread.
Just get an AR.
>>34739680
How is Milsurp dead?
>>34739711
>$300+ mosin
>>34739711
Case study: The nugget
Was <90$, is now 250+$
USD inflation in the last 15 years was under 45%.
Basically,
Supply << Demand
They don't MAKE milsurp.
OP here, AR It is, prolly gonna build one, for sure getting an enfield when I can afford it for historical value

>>34739725
Ahh now I understand what you mean. Thought you meant "dead" as in no longer cool. Lol
>>34739642
if you dont get an ar15 now you are stupid. Manufacturers are practically giving them away.
>>34739725
>They don't MAKE milsurp.
... I almost consider the current market situation with AR15's to make them basically Milsurp.
>>34739711
Milsurp is dead because modern firearms are the majority of the time select fire. So that limits you to early cold war and earlier. The the fact that the US Government doesn't want to do it. Russian sanctions, South Vietnamese garands, fucking surplus 1911s. They do not want them on the civilian market. Combine that with the laws against bringing back war trophies in the 60s, and it's a dead end.
Just build an AR-15 so you can understand the gun, or buy an AK so you don't have to really give a shit about maintenance.

>They do not want them on the civilian market.
Honestly that ain't for them to decide
>>34740451
Yes, it is. In fact, it's only for them to decide, since they're the ones endowed with that power.
>>34740451
In a perfect world, no. In reality, yes.
>>34739642
What's your country anon ? I might guide you if yo'ure Yuro
Nobody recommended the SKS? It's still cheaper than an AR.
>>34739642
Winchester 94
>>34740569
Lmao kid wtf, "with cracked stock" who would want that low capacity heavy non modular soaked in cosmoline used piece of shit with no warranty and hard/er to fix or replace than an ar15? Save $80 more, thats $40 two times. Get a modern ish lego rifle you can customize as you grow instead of it becoming obsolete quickly brand new with a factory warranty supported with so many aftermarket parts you could shake your dick at them, christ you could rebarrel the fucker in your living room with your bare hands if you're man enough.
