What does /k/ think of two tone guns?
Are they worth the extra $100 to $150ish retailers typically ask for?
Or would you rather save that money and have an all black gun? One that's better hiding scratches and dirt
Pic related can't decide on two tone cz75. Sp01 or all black

I never really cared for them, myself.
If you like the look, go for it. It's going to cost you more to get it done separately.
I personally love silver slide, black frame guns.
>>34737011
If you like it then that's all that matters desu
>>34737025
>>34737011
I'd go for all black. Otherwise it isn't really a shadow, is it?
>>34737022
This, seems pointlessly flashy, almost garish.
>>34737011
depends on the gun, Some can pull it off, other just cant. There is no inbetween. A good rule of thumb is how aesthetic the gun is,usually anything plastic looks like crap with two tone

>No extra charge
Surewhynot
>>$150 extra

I personally think they're ugly as fuck, but it doesn't enrage me if people like/buy them.
the idea wasn't cosmetic. The steel slide would be coated to give lubricity against an aluminium frame. the coatings were dark and the frame was aluminum to reduce weight for carry.

I like them but I don't know if I $150 extra like them.
I have one of these and I love it.
Of course it's milsurp shit and not freshly made retail.
>use your brain

Steel doesn't need lubrication on aluminum. It will just wear right through it. There shouldn't be any moving parts where hardened steel meets aluminum.

Don't listen to /k/. If you like the look, go for it. If you don't care how it looks, go for the cheaper all black model and buy an extra mag or 2 with the savings.
My only two tone is a limited edition p89, which I got for free. Idk if I would have opted for it if I had to pay for it.
I thought the gun was ugly in general, so I added cocobolo grips, so now it's a different kind of ugly.
Two-tone is only nice if it's nickel and gold imo
>>34740697
Well, the grips are nice.
>>34737011
Pretty ugly
>>34739405
someones never touched a sig or berreta you damn well better lube the things
>>34737011
ugly as fuck, especially on polymers >>34737025
like that. it just looks like ghetto trash
>>34737011
Reverse two-tone is a very underrated combination. Not bad at all. I'd prefer all black for the P220 10mm, though, if I could get one with night sights and a DA/SA trigger.

You're right, I try to stay away from steel on aluminium though, horror stories of the steel wearing the aluminum.
>>34737011
I prefer all black, or all grey metal-tone guns.
That's the color they were in the cartoons and movies I was brought up on.
>>34737025
This particular aesthetic makes for a keen looking gun

let's be honest here, most horror stories arise from negligence, either in maintenance or proper lubrication. Maybe a small percent are actual legitimate horror stories.
Either someone bubba'd something incorrectly, put in too much/stong a powder, or didn't lube something properly, they then experience something negative, and instead of questioning maybe it was themselves to blame, they harp it out to the world as evidence that it was the product's quality instead.
Not all accounts, but you know damn well that a lot of people do this.
>>34741893
I'm sure. People are really good about doing stupid shit then blaming it on an object. I'm also sure if those stories were true, there would be a lot less sold/made. I still am cautious about them, and don't fully trust the combination of materials.
>>34737011
I prefer two guns in two different tones.
>>34742017
oh for sure, the harder material will screw up the softer one if they're in contact and moving against each other, that's not debatable.
But that's where good lubrication comes in handy.
Take the CZ P-01 for example, the frame is aluminum AND the steel frame rides tightly inside it. I just put grease or liberal slather of lube on those rails. But there are definately stories of people who put steel guide rods in their alloy frame'd CZ's and some getting marring done into their frames. Two different things, one is a harder metal pushing against a softer one, the other is a harder metal sliding across the softer one. It's much easier to lessen the interaction of the sliding action.
