Save a case of ammo to sell with your gun just in case. Unless you got in on the cheap ammo years ago and have 15k rounds stocked up, you're going to either run out or just never want to shoot your gun anyway.

No one is making brass 5.45. The only market would be the US in the event of a sanction banning ammo, and even then the market would be too small. Too little would be made so it would be too expensive for most people and it would die.

If you google PPU 5.45 you'll find two things:

A new sanctions bill, overwhelmingly passed by the House and Senate, involving Russia, Iran & North Korea was signed into law today. The President has 60 days to announce who/what he plans to sanction and what types of sanctions he's placing. The Russian Defense industry is implicated.

Some people think Russian ammo manufacturers are going to be sanctioned in a way that prevents more ammo from coming into the country. Although it's still speculation at this point.

Your options appear to be:

1) Panic and spend all your monies buying ammo
2) Give up all hope and store/sell your AKs
3) Wait and see what happens

Eh, I have 3 aks w/ 1 in 5.56 and 1100+rounds in 7.62 (courtesy of Sam Galbert) so I'm not sure if I need to buy another case or not. I do believe ammo will be sanctioned.
>>
>>34737236

yugos and early Russian sks's aren't chromed.
>>
>>34737216
So this would really affect 5.45 more than 7.62x39 wouldn't it? Since more countries produce 7.62x39.
>>
>>34737234

>>
>>34737250
Then I'd assume people are crying about it because surplus ammo being corrosive, chromeline really helps a lot. Or you could just clean your fucking gun and not worry...
>>
>>34737216
>Some people think Russian ammo manufacturers are going to be sanctioned in a way that prevents more ammo from coming into the country. Although it's still speculation at this point.

It's an easy target. Especially with all of the pressure the EU is putting on him to leave their energy investments the fuck alone. There would be comparatively little consequence to banning Russian ammo. The left would love it because it's backdoor gun control and republicans would defend it because 'muh democracy freedum ain't free!11' or some idiotic shit.

Chrome lining is just for rust prevention with corrosive ammunition, it's for rust prevention in general. It also helps keep the rifling stronger longer, increasing barrel life, especially with a lot of rapid firing.

If you've got money, probably. Either go to college or a trade school and remember that everything in life after high school is generally pretty much worse, and won't get any better without copious amounts of money thrown at it.
>>
>>34737359
Its absolutely not bad, But why the fuck wouldn't you want more accuracy? Chrome lining is inherently less accurate hence why NO bench shooters use it...

There was a movement a few years back to try and get PPU to make brass 5.45, their response basically was to leave them alone and theirs no demand for 5.45 to warrant any effort.

Because the concern, especially with AK's and SKS's is barrel life and durability. All those hardening processes like melonite/nitriding/etc don't hold up well to heat and don't hold up well to the bi-metal jacket ammunition that dominates the slavshit markets.

It's not a bad choice, but get ready to compete with people who come over to the US with zero debt and will work for considerably less than you (and minimal benefits) in whatever field you pursue.

I took calc 1 my second semester and come out of that failing. It was difficult to ask questions mostly because

haha, if they can get a job and not get their asses kicked right back out.

you can go stem with zero debt, just play your cards right. for undergrad it doesn't matter where you get your degree, any remotely reputable state school will do. bonus points for in-state and working at a company in-state, you're more likely to get hired.

there are easy ways to avoid the competition but you have to do your homework. how you go about it depends on where you want to end up working. my #1 recommendation is to intern over your last two summers. that will make everything go smoothly.

consider also taking a lesser job (in relevant industry) to get 2-4yrs exp. and moving on to somewhere better. getting a good job straight out of college is tough. sometimes you can move laterally within a company to something better, sometimes you can't.

you have to own the autism, make it your strength. calc 1 grad profs are the literal worst. if you are fortunate you can get calc 1 credit out of HS, otherwise just grin and bear it. it goes uphill, I promise. had the same situation. it's not uncommon to fail calc either, but it's not impossible to pass. some people just need a swift kick in the ass. as you probably know, the early profs will want to do that to you.

One of the thinks that tanked my grade was that I missed an exam (lol) which I didn't make up and a couple other things. I still was fucking awful at it. The same urge to just dome myself then has only been made worse (not actually going to kill myself). Anway, if I don't end up reenrolling this coming spring (I should have enrolled for this fall) I'll probably just do something stupid because at that point it will have been two years.

Framing abortion as a women's health issue is one of the most disastrous pieces of subversion the bolsheviks ever concocted.

Imagine going back in time to tell people in the '40s that women in 2017 are actually proud to kill their children and that the practice is actually celebrated.

not that i recommend it, but full disclosure I did skip a lot of lectures in some classes because they were boring or because I had other (school) priorities

That's because century is fucking retarded and so are you for buying one. The chink slings work with Type 2/3 based milled AK's. The Russians went to a smaller sling loop design in the AKM. The WASR is an AKM. 90% of AK's you'll find have the smaller and more robust AKM derived sling loop on the handguard retainer.

Fair enough. My point is that when he broke the news on 7n6, what he did was not irresponsible. He wasn't just stirring shit. He was actually right.

I'm not saying that means he's gonna be right this time. I want him to be wrong with every fiber of my being. I just don't get this knee jerk, sour grapes reaction of being pissed off that other people are able to get it before it's gone.
>>

>>
>>34738588

I'll laugh my ass off it he's right like he was with 7n6 when all the haters thought he was full of shit, he does have industry connections, and he was literally THE FIRST ONE to announce the whole 7n6 thing.

I'll laugh at the people stuck buying U.S made 60 cent a round 7.62x39, while I sit on mountains of Russian ammo.
>>
So if Russian imports are banned, we'd still have several domestic and foreign manufacturers/ sources of 7.62x39. Would surplus M67 be the cheapest ammo at that point?
>>
>>34738780
And most likely non-Russian manufacturers would step up to the plate to fill the demand for 5.45. But Russian ammo makes up the majority of commercial availability for both calibers and non-Russian manufacturers would not be able to shoulder the sudden burden.

>>
>>34738764
>I just don't get this knee jerk, sour grapes reaction of being pissed off that other people are able to get it before it's gone.

Mostly because instead of being proactive and putting forth effort to combat anti-gun legislation and sanctions like this, most gun owners are content to max out their credit cards buying a few cases of each caliber. You remember the reaction when 7n6 imports were cut off vs the reaction when they proposed to reclassify xm855 as AP.

The second I found out that these sanctions might kill ammo imports, the first thing I did was contact each of my representatives, one directly by phone. I'm guessing not 1/4 of you even bothered to send an email.
>>

>>
>>34738801
Not to mention that Russian ammo is generally the cheapest 5.56/.223, 9mm, .308 ammo right now. Russian sanctions would drastically change the ammo market
>>
>>34738801

No one else is making 5.45x39, Ukraine could but they are sanctioned, Romania doesn't produce 5.45, no one else is tooled up.
>>
>>34738806
It wasn't a million complete rounds, it was brass, unloaded brass cases. That's not something an AK owner, or even a group of AK owners can handle paying for, importing, and distributing. It's up to commercial manufacturers.
>>
Anyone had a lead on a Maadi crutch folder?
>>
>>34738801
>And most likely non-Russian manufacturers would step up to the plate to fill the demand for 5.45.
I HIGHLY doubt that given that "everyone" considers it a "dead caliber walking". That's part of the frustration. Plus countries like Romania and Bulgaria don't give two shits rather or not they're getting commercial sales of shit given that time and time again they dedicate themselves to military contracts. I mean fuck, Bulgaria won't even sell us ammunition and Romania hardly sells any anymore with the exception of a little bit of that RAS/Century imported shit that's horrible. There's a big irony, I believe, that Russian companies are the only ones that actually seem interested to make the effort to routinely get their stuff to market in the US.
>>
>>34738821
Hopefully Prvi will do it. Even if it's as expensive as their 7.62 at least it will be reloadable
>>
>>34738821

Same reason they make calibers in brass like .308 and others while cheap Russian ammo is here?

5.45 is a niche cartridge, anyway you would be paying well over 60cents a round for 5.45 from privi, it would be a limited run item produced in batch like 8mm Kurz, there isn't enough demand to continuously produce 5.45.
>>
>>34737664

>>
>>34738870
They don't do it in a vacuum. Wholesalers and distributors like Gabbert from the US make connections and contract lots of ammo. If we didn't show interest and reach out, there would be very little in the country. Even import/export requires two parties.

It's the "industry" assholes that spread rumors and shape consumer opinions at the behest of the manufacturers. This is basic business bullshit. In most niche hobby related industries the consumers are capable of shaping what the industry does or doesn't do but with firearms, due to the huge as fuck corporate lobby and the fact that it's a "dangerous" thing and big money, we're fucked because not only do we have all sorts of regulations, we're reliant on imports for half of the shit (yes, even your "100% US made AR's"), etc. By your same logic the entire hobby around firearms might as well be dead.

>>
>>34738931
>>34738952
On top of that, we're fucked because the only lobby we have of course is lobbying for US manufacturers so they don't give a single shit if imports get restricted, if anything they relish at the opportunity because, in theory, it increases the number of people buying US made firearms and accessories. I mean I understand protectionism for big industries like the auto industry or textiles, etc but protectionism for something that is a relatively small industry is fucking retarded but that's what the NRA is and lobbies for.
