By finding a reenactment group in your area.

If you cant find a reenactmwnt group in your area online i suggest you go to the town office and get a permit to use a public park while you are there dress up you larping faggot and hand out fliers to everyone inviting them to a reenactment then plan an actual reenactment that relies only on you showing up bc chances are thatll be thw case

It helps to be either fat and unable to grow a beard, or above the age of 50. Speech impediments are a bonus.

You find a group FIRST. Then you get to know them go on meeting, and you and the group finds out if you will fit in. Most military reenactment groups does some level of running at each other with lowered bayonets or fire muskets at each other. Powder only of course but even so there is potential for harming others. So there is some initial screening to weed out the worst idiots and maniacs. By the time they decide to keep you they will have informed you of exactly what the uniform, gun and gear should look like and will probably have procuring options for you or can loan you gear. The odds are huge that any stuff you brought to the first meeting is incompatible with what that particular unit is using. Some units are downright anal about tiny details while other are somewhat more lax, but there are always standards.
