do soldiers remove their magnified optics when entering rooms?
No, dont be ridiculous.

wouldn't it be weird? like zooming in on a bad guy's shirt button instead of his forhead?
>>34728525

Cmon kid. Actual room-to-room is generally excessive grenades and point shooting.
>>34728589
what's point shooting?
>>34728820
point the gun
shoot
>>34728820
it's like using the cursor to shoot instead of the sights in a videogame but the cursor is invisible
>>34728589
Pssh
>>34728820
Shooting without using sights, aka instinct shooting. Not necessarily the same as firing from the hip. Here something to try
>Point at a target with your off finger
>Shoulder your rifle, but dont use the sights
>While still pointing, poke your thumb to the left and rest the hand guard on the thumb, making the barrel parallel with your pointing finger
>Congrats, you can now shoot coffee mug sized targets out to 30 ft without using sights
>>34728491
>do soldiers remove their magnified optics when entering rooms?
Of course. In fact, prior to every room breach, a soldier of a squad is designated the 'Quartermaster'. The squad then proceeds to call out "I'm removing my optic for CQB" three times while they do so physically. Then the 'Quartermaster' retrieves the optics from the men to stow in his dump-pouch. At that point the squad clears the room. Afterward the Quartermaster hands the optics back for the men to put back on. The process is then repeated on following rooms.
>>34728491
No.
With an ACOG there is a sighting technique that will allow you to use it like a CCO. Basically keep both eyes open and shoot through the sight.
>>34728909
This guy knows it.
Fun fact: the reason they are called "Quartermaster" is because they carry and use a US quarter dollar coin as a tool to aid it loosening and tightening the optic screws.
>>34728491
Yes, they also recover health if they stand still for long enough
>>34728964
Sure about that?
The term appears to derive from the title of a German royal official, the Quartiermeister. This term meant "master of quarters" (where "quarters" means lodging/accommodation). Or it could have been derived from "master of the quarterdeck" where the helmsman and Captain controlled the ship. The term was then adopted by some European armies and navies. The first use in English was as a naval term, entering English via the equivalent French and Dutch naval titles quartier-maƮtre and kwartier-meester in the fifteenth century. The term began to refer to army officers in English around 1600.

>>34729004
>>34728909
How does the quartermaster know which optic goes to which player?
>>34729310
Glad you asked me that question. Prior to the soldiers re-mounting their sights, the quartermaster will re-zero every sight on the spot. This generally requires at least a few minutes per scope, including test shots on paper.

I should also note that marking your sights with any form of identification to a specific soldier is strictly prohibited. Any violation of this mandate often end in court martial, or penis inspection.

completely. I was a Quartermeister once, and I once put hash marks on the ACOG scopes so I could see whose was who, and I got sentenced to penis inspection. It was awful. Still have to go to therapy for PTSD.

This is why I like the kraut g36 with its built in magnified and red dot sight on top. Gunmakers and military programs for weapons procurement(usually led by bureaucrats) focus to much on shit like what speshal forcees are doing and decide to put cheese graders fucking everywhere. It's a fucking service rifle. The soldier isn't gonna be issued 20 different optics for a thousand different situations. He's gonna get on that's suppose to be general purpose similar to the general purpose"ness" of the assault rifle itself. Having a weapon like the g36 where you have a decent magnified optic built in that also has basic range estimation within it is perfect for general purpose from 100m-550+m, and also has the built in red dot for everything within 100-75m.
>Soldiers are not special forces
>Soldiers do not perform specific specialized missions like special forces
>one mission could feature a broad range of tasks
Special forces pimp there m4's because there gonna be raiding a compound and will be doing cqc or they pimp out there mk17's with high power optics for picking off potential threats from far away while calling in airstrikes.
Infantry should have a rifle that can fill the broad range of tasks. not pimp them out to be great at one specific task. holy fuck.
>>34728491
no, they generally carry secondary rifles, just as the samurai would carry two swords into battle. They take out their secondary rifle, which doesn't have sights, but does have extended mags and hollow-point low-recoil ammo

why dont they just carry a claymore mine attached to a claymore sword i assume with similar names they must be mutual complimentary weapon systems
no need for bayonets or hand to hand training
your welcome /k/

You don't know what you're onto.
>attach claymore to tip of claymore
>safely out of range when you set off the claymore at the end of your claymore
>>34735886
You must seriously be smoking your primer powder.
>Use clay targets as claymore guard
>The additional clay allows for the attachment of two claymore mines like akimbo
>Is better comrade, putting two more clays at time
>>34735414
>why dont they just carry a claymore mine attached to a claymore sword
Why would you give our fighting men a weapon that is inferior to the katana? A katana would easily cut through a claymore.

Shooting for points.
>>34736872

>>34736180

Nope. Some optics have back-up sights (I think that's the right terminology). It's basically a set of sights either on top of the optic or a space under the optic for you to look down. Given it's a lot more tedious than just looking down the magnified optic, but it works.
Sometimes I wonder what kind of retards inhabit this fucking board
>>34728491

>Run 5.5 feet of claymore through opponent, end up within inches of each other
>Squeeze clacker on grip of sword
>Claymores attached to hilt detonate in tandem
>Level the half of the building in front of you, lose your arms above the elbow, suffer severe blast trauma
>Guy behind you gets it on helmet cam
Worth it.
