>>34726659
yeah, for everything. i'm happy but i'll be patient and make sure it works as expected. does your smoke mag work 100%?
>>34726672
i want it to be closer to modern spec, which would preclude a smooth top cover. my SLR-104 has a ribbed cover because I'm interested in the Soviet-Afghan look for that. purely cosmetic otherwise
>>
>>34726678
Not him but the Razor is arguably one of, if not the best LPVO on the market right now. It's easily up there with Trijicon and Steiner optics.
>>
>>34726678
I love it. Massive eyebox, so coming from years of issued ACOGs...I'm deeply in love. The true 1x setting with the large eyebox makes the dot very quick to acquire. I recommend a throw lever though, as it is a bear to adjust. The class is clear as all fuck and the adjustments are very authoritative.

Seriously the only negative is the weight but this rifle isn't meant to be a lightweight, and a lighter 1-6 of the same quality is another 1/3 the price minimum.
>>
>>34726695
Yeah the smoke mag works fine in mine. I'm under the impression earlier 106 builds were finnicky and had feeding issues. Mine is a recent build and is functionally fine. 500ish rounds so far, no problems from any mags except the factory 5 rounder that likes to catch on the bolt, which bends the fuck out of the overexposed thin metal feed lip.

Ok, good to hear. I don't know how old this one is, it's admittedly a gamble, but fixing any issues (at least the ones I've read about) is not beyond my capability. I got some of the sealed barnaul .223 and will try that out too. Could be a nice alternative ammo. Will pay close attention to the 5rd mags.
>>34726736
I want to try a low concussion alternative with better flash reduction, and I think they look alright but won't know until it's all together. Might go back to a brake, but the rifle doesn't need it performance-wise. I'm going after the Polish AKML or Tabuk philosophy and am building towards night vision compatibility.

So not only did my work tell me they're not giving me a raise after working here for two and a half years, I also learned (by sneaking a look at the boss' notes from a managers meeting) that they're giving the new guy who's only worked here for about two months a raise so he'll be making more than me while doing the exact same thing as me

I'll be putting my two weeks in tomorrow morning. My wife talked me into not just straight up walking out today. It took them four months to replace the last guy who quit (and guess who had to work twice as much to make up for a lost position while they found someone else? Me) so I hope the new guy is ready to work 80 hour weeks. He's already told the boss he's not working weekends anymore so I've been covering weekend shifts for the past month so he's in for a rude awakening when he's doing what I had to do and working 10-12 hour days 7 days a week when I was doing it alone

Sorry for blog posting and shitting up the thread but I'm beyond mad (like I don't to cuss up a storm and punch things, I want to sit and bask in anger and empty a bottle or four and numb my brain) and /akg/ is really my only friends anymore

I do have a few of those, East German, but for some reason they wouldn't lock up with either of my rifles. I ended up grinding the mag catch on the one that I actually finished since I read that was needed on some Bulgarian 74s. The one in the pic that just needs an freshening up before Duracoat locks up fine with any polymer mags though.

You could get a surplus Tanfoglio for a song on gunbroker if you like those better, but they don't always take the same mags (depending on frame and year). Overall I recommend something that will accept modern production mec-gar mags, they're golden. 75B or newer should work just fine.

I fucked up /k/.

Back during the height of the Obama-scare, before I did any research, I bought a shitty, tacticool, WASR-clone, Cugir built AK in 5.45.

It's been sitting in storage for 5 or 6 years while I was no-guns. Now 5.45 is more expensive than 7.62 and I'm stuck with this mall ninja monstrosity.

If you were a soldier in the late 80s and you had a choice between an AK-74 and an AKS-74, which would you pick? Would you prefer the fixed stock or a triangle folder? You might be in vehicles occasionally but not enough to make the compactness of the triangle really shine, it's really just which of the two you'd prefer.

Please don't. I'm married too, have been for nearly a year. Wife wants kids, I don't, didn't make it apparent before we got married. I have no idea how to tell her, and I'm almost certain that it will cause us to get a divorce, which I don't want. If that happens I'll have to move in with family because I can't afford a house and car payment, insurance, light and water bill, groceries, cell and internet bills and try to put money back for emergencies. Why would you take the only thing that makes a Glock worth the money, which is the excellent finish and incredible consistency and quality control, and just throw that to the wind? No other non-custom gun company in the world makes guns as high quality as Glock. You're taking away the only good quality of owning a Glock.

I don't see anything alarming desu. Ammunition manufacturers were not named in Obamas EOs, and this bill just limits Trumps power to remove the previous sanctions. It's certainly possible ammunition manufacturers could be named in a future bill, but his isn't it

>>
>>34733754
There is. According to the bill, Trump has to designate parties that may be affected within 60 days of signing (today), and the actual sanctions go into effect 180 days after signing.

That said, Trump has to apply at least 5 specific, pre-designated sanctions to the affected parties, and of the 12 in the bill, sanctioning property is only 1 of them. It's possible he could sanction, say, Barnaul, but only hit them financially and allow them to continue exports.

Still, relying on government good will is not exactly a smart survival strategy in the gun world.

I've got a pair of padded ones on my ARs, the AR-10 I had gotten first, then the AK sling, then finally one for the 15 when I got around to upgrading it. The non-padded isn't as comfortable, obviously, but I'd say it's still worth it. It's the only good thing attached to the Snickers name, and really just an example that BFG makes some damn fine nylon.

They really missed out on their chance to make a national assault weapons ban stick desu.
It was put in place back when not many people had one, and not many people wanted a semi automatic with a magazine.
There wasn't a giant fight because most gun owners were 50-60 year old fudds who had "muh durr rifle".

Nowadays gun owner demographics have shifted towards a younger audience who want "cool guy" guns, intolerant of any perceived infringement.

Like 30-35% of guns sold on America are now AR-15 platform.
Literally millions.
There's nothing they can do at this point short of door-to-door, which would be unintentional police genocide.

At this point literally everyone with a name in the industry has copied Glock's design. So many options to choose from. But you're insisting on getting a Glock. But not just any glock, a special snowflake Glock that doesn't actually use any Glock brand Glock parts. This is exactly my point. The best part about glocks is how high quality they are made. Everything else is pretty much mediocre.

You are going to spend more money overall making a Frankenstein Glock that probably won't even work right. If you want a Glock with a better grip and trigger then just get a VP9 ffs.
>>
>>34734425
Yikes. What length of loan are you using that puts a $40,000 loan at $400 a month? (your math holds up on a 100 month loan at 0%)

I see what you're saying, but being that loose with the math casts serious doubt on your ability to make financial decisions.

Not making a down payment keeps cash flow free for investing and can make sense if you have good cash flow and can make more with that free cash than the cost of interest.

Not making a down payment also helps protect you from getting screwed really hard by making bad choices at a dealer (banks have a limit they will finance on a auto as % of value). If you are an utter failure at negotiations you might be stopped from paying more than 10% too much because the bank won't finance that much dealership profit.

So, in short down payments are fine for people who don't suck at negotiating and are only passive investors. Also, down payments are for people not carrying credit card debt (pay that shit off first).

Daewoo, how the living fuck do you afford that, the rest of your bills, and all your AK stuff working at a sporting goods store?

I pay $251 a month for my little 2015 Corolla's lease after a $1K down payment back when it was brand new. They wanted me to pay $375/mo originally on a 36-month lease.

Honestly, I'm just perpetually floored by how much money some people pay for cars. My younger brother just got a brand new Lexus hatchback that he's leasing for like $400 a month, which is more than my lease, my car insurance, my renter's insurance, and my valuable property insurance combined. I don't know how people can do it.

The fuck am I supposed to chase now? I've got AR parts in the mail because I just got tired of waiting for new stuff to return to the market.
>>
>>34734850
If your rate is low enough then it really doesn't make sense to make a big down payment. The cash you used on the down payment could've been invested. If the rate of return on your investment is bigger than your loan interest rate then you've made the right decision.

My mom has a credit score of 809 and could've financed her new car for a nominal rate. The finance guy explained this to her trying to convince her to finance at less than 1% but she refused because she'd rather live debt free.
>>
>>34734866
Ah, that explains it. Same way my brother affords a Lexus at 19 working for Starbucks. Smart move if he's using it to save up for an actual house with his fiance though. Having sold cars, worked in a finance office, and currently being an accountant, I can assure you 'your down payment goes to the dealership not loan' is a fucking retarded statement.

The entire loan amount and down payment goes to the dealership. They get a check/wire for the entire loan amount. Dealerships don't hold loans. So, see the prior post about not being shit at negotiating.

Next, you are paying $50,700 for your $43,000 truck on an 84 month loan. So I guess $17,000 to finance your truck for 84 months is fine. How many hours of work does it take you to make $17,000?

>But I'll refinance it soon.
That's what everyone says. Refinancing cars isn't a huge business because everyone says it and almost nobody does it.
>>

>>
>>34734969
>no idea if 5.45 will be around long enough for me to justify buying an SLR-104 or SLR-104UR to SBR

I almost ordered one last night, but with how tenuous the 5.45 situation is that could be a really fast way to spend a grand on a paperweight. Then I'd have to form 1 it, wait, and then get someone to remove the restrictor plate and cut the barrel.

It's a shitload simpler to just build an AR pistol and swap the buffer tube when your stamp comes in.

I also toyed with the idea of a 106cr but I just bought a USP and an AUG, so the last thing I need is another gun with another different magazine pattern.
>>
>>34734183

The rates have slowly been climbing. Hopefully for you they either flatten out or don't jump by than.
>>
>>34735171
So let's see if I can math this out for you. You financed. $36,400 for 72 months at 6%. Your total loan cost is $43,400 and your monthly payment is $603.

So only $7000 in interest. That feels much better than $17,000. Just as a piece of financial advice. When you get around to trying to buy a home, you should try to keep your auto loan to 1/3 of your annual income. So that $36,400 loan looks right for a $110,000 annual income.

I suspect that's part of why you are at 6% on that handsome truck. (love the truck, kinda jelly)

If rates rise, prices will fall (people buy payments). It's always better to buy at a low price with a high rate. You can refinance a rate if comes down. There is no good process for lowering the price after you paid.

Lessons from 2008 feel mighty applicable right now.

I'll fuck off now and we can go back to guns and gun accessories (trucks count)

I know that feeling. I'm eyeing the 1911 I've always wanted since Brownells put it on sale for close to $900 for once, but I really need to just save money and put what gun money I do have into ammo.

Like I've said before, the cycle never ends. Some day we'll all make it and we can just buy whatever guns we want, when we want.

Hey dudes, so I just picked up a bulgy 74, as well as a few k rounds for ,16c/r and some mags.

I love shooting it, and it's like a 22lr compared to my 7.62x39. Now, before I go spending all my money on stupid shit, is there any immediate upgrades needed?

I was looking at the AKT trigger, is this the best bang for your buck as far as triggers go, and is the difference really worth it? Using a G2 trigger currently. Also, the Venezuelan PKA optic, is it as comfy to shoot as a western Trijicon? I want the rifle to have some period correctness, so if it's comfy, I'd love to use a somewhat correct optic.

Don't bother with an ALG AKT, the trigger pull is too short and in my opinion the shape is far too goofy. Modify a surplus Bulgy AK-47 trigger, FCG, and hammer, also if the rifle doesn't have it's original chrome like brake, get an proper chrome lined Bulgarian brake.
>>
>>34735381
In my experience, the ALG AKT is actually *too* light. It feels like a single stage with an insanely light break. YMMV, but I'd try to get hands-on with one first.

Also, "period correct" to what? If your idea of "period correct" is "late 1980s Soviet military," you're basically just going to be shooting irons unless you feel like tracking down an NV optic.
>>
>>34735605
Brake isn't pictured, but it's on there
>>34735626
I mean, that loosely, I'd prefer using an eastern optic instead of an EOTech or Trijicon. I know it might be weird, but it's just aesthetics for me. I mostly use irons, but I figured it could be fun to try an optic out on an AK.

Is the common consensus just to do as >>34735605
says and modify trigger, FCG and hammer to your liking?
