The Malian army is, to say it midly, undertrained and lacking in discipline. I mean just look at that:

Meanwhile, jokes aside, Chad gave a good accound of itself in the Mali war. Rwanda is generally assumed to be disciplined while neighbouring Congo is pathetic despite being fuckhuge. You can't put all African country in the same basket, there is simply no uniformity.
