Should I buy a Type 30 Arisaka for $500?
Also, 'Surp thread, since there is none.
Bumping for arisaka anon

What condition is it in? Do its serial numbers match?
>>34719647
Sure, what could go wrong?
>>34720010
It seems good, only thing disconcerting is the wood near the buttplate looks to be in rough condition.
I think an anon who owns one said that very few type 30s have matching numbers.
>>34719647
A 30?
Barring obvious flaws, like a ground mum, hell yes.
>>34719647
>$500
shit no
>>34720052
No ground mum. Not matching.
Only thing that looks bad is this one place in the stock, as I do intend on shooting it infrequently.
>>34720046
Very few are. They were matched with assembly numbers too.
>>34720073
They were made that way.
>>34720100
I mean the chips right next to the buttplate.
Does it affect the integrity of the stock if I where to shoot it?
>>34719647
That's a fair price. I'd get it at that price, if you want a Type 30. They're neat rifles.
>>34720108
Stock is fine for shooting. Just make sure the firing pin hasn't been clipped. They're a bitch to replace/clean.
>>34720073
That line in the stock is intentional; Japanese stocks were made in two pieces due to a lack of stock-quality hardwood. As long as the rifle seems solid there, you should be fine.
>>34720110
At what price would it stop being fair?
The one Ian reviewed was appraised at 1,200 dollars and wasn't matching, what would make it worth that vs $500?
Also, sorry about all the questions, I'm just autistic before I buy a gun.
>>34720127
$1200? Wow, I've never seen one go for that. $750 tops is where I would stop but Ian is the expert, not me.
Actually, screw it. I'm gonna buy it. Worst that happens is I spend $75 shipping it back.

Kek, I meant the anon who posts a lot in milsurp threads with a crazy knowledge of arisakas
One last question, can a type 30 handle the pressures of a type 38 spitzer cartridge?
Posting surp
>>34720199
Yes. While not as strong as the later Type 38, nothing else is either. The 6.5 is a mild cartridge and the Type 30 will handle it just fine, though you may has extraction issues.
