What is the advantage to ammo like this?
Is it good for small game? I do like how quiet my bolt action .22 is when i shoot shorts. But ive never used a short to hunt.

Suppressed guns you dork.
Mostly for cans on longer rifles. It's of dubious use without said can, although they are fairly quiet for a gunshot.

For running sub sonic that'll actually cycle some semi-autos.
I prefer cb rounds for getting rid of stray cats but I think those would work.

Can't speak for other rounds but i love subsonic .22. It's so goddamn quiet that at 100 yards you can hear the round connect.
Ill pay the extra 2-3 cents a round just for that

Also home defense ammo. Even if you dont have a suppressor, it's quieter which obviously doesn't hurt your ears and eyes as much. It mitigates over penetration as well. I use 9mm subsonic HPs for HD even though I don't have a suppressor yet

>Less muzzle energy than subsonic .25 acp
It drops significantly faster than normal .22LR, even at 25 yards it is significant. Put it on paper at different yardage before hunting

Basically the only practical purpose of it is to play mallninja sniper on treeniggers when you live in city limits but still have a $300 can on your $150 Ruger 10/22.
