AR9 is a little more expensive but depending on the build, a much more solid platform.

hipoint carbine isnt a bad suggestion. PCCs are fun, especially if youre shooting steel and despite its homely looks and less than stellar reputation, the HP carbine is a decent poorfag choice.
alternatively: beretta storm, jusr right carbine, used marlin camp carbine, or a 9mm AR

I don't get the MPX. What is the point? PCCs are just fine using direct blowback (more reliable, fewer parts). If youre worried about receiver length just use a telescoping bolt.
Why add a gas system to a PCC?

GSG also recently released an mp40 reproduction. That fixes all the aesthetic issues but I'm not sure they're any good. Gonna shoot my buddies in a week or so and I'm fucking stocked. He paid about 550 OTD but it seems they're out of stock in a lot of places

I would go with the hi-point carbine. It's cheap and it works. I'm sure there are ways of making it look better. There was someone working on a bullpup kit for them.

I think they're great.

Even better if you have a can and you want to shoot sub sonic rounds.

Not every weapon has to be min/maxed to the nth degree. It's good enough for home defense, and they're more fun than a barrel of monkeys to shoot.

I hand load extra low pressure sub sonic rounds that are quieter than a paintball gun through my can.
