Because it's a new gun store (opened up last October, right before the election), and it is located in a weird fucking area far away from conventional commercial zoning. To the west is a giant office park and across the street to the east is a high school. I doubt they are doing very well right now and are probably in desperate need of new customers, so they will do a little free work to get people in the door.

Lots of FN parts and PSA parts come out of the same machine shop. This machine shop made AR barrels and parts for lots of AR companies. PSA bought the machine shop a year ago, with all of their supply contracts in place.

Most companies outsource their parts anyway. Hardly anyone is rifling and treating their own barrels and no one is making their own forgings. BCGs predominantly come from Toolcraft. Any basic lower and upper kit will do fine - the barrel and trigger is where you need to splurge.
