It's difficult to push it back into place. You just have to use your big-boy muscles. Don't use a damn punch to do it, that's retarded.

I'd check that first. Turn it and see if the rifle doesn't go straight back in.
You're not trying to put it in with the trigger pack on, are you? Still trying to understand why you fouled up your safety while trying to slip the barreled receiver back into the stock. The trigger pack is the last thing to go on, and you just smack it into place, at an angle, from the bottom side, after the rest of the rifle is in the stock.
