Fort Valley is one of my favorite places in the state.

I went to Monongahela in WV last week. Target shooting is legal anywhere in the forest, as long as you're far enough away from trails/campsites/other people. Put about 150 rounds of 9mm and 200 rounds of 5.56 through a dead tree with my buddy. Pretty cash. Anyone want to talk shit about Sharpshooters? Place gives me cancer every time. Also,

No, BRA is just full of assholes and fudds
Hassling people over NFA paperwork is just retarded as well. If they had any idea how complicated and restricted buying a suppressor is, they'd realize how much it defeats the purpose to ask to see my tax stamp. No, you can't just buy a suppressor and "forget" to get a stamp. Quit touching my fucking shoulder while I'm in the middle of sighting in my rifle and saying "uhhhh my manager says I need to check your paperwork for that" I'm showing you my tax stamp as a courtesy, don't bug me 3 times about it.

It was BRA winding brook. Actually a decent range. Well lit, staff that was helpful and pretty chill. Much better than their chantilly location, and CSA. They also knew the difference between steel cased, bimeral jacket, and steel core too. But pic related was posted on their door and they havent reopened since.
>>
>>34720965
Bummer, always hate to see problems with gun places around town. I've never had much issue with CSA other than the price, but BRA looked to be priced similar. I think 90% of the problems with CSA's range is the fact that it's so popular. I go at off times and never have an issue, but if I go during the middle of a day on the weekend, there's a long wait, there's a ton of people there being unsafe on the range and international tourists who kinda put me on edge too, and I always get in a lane next to some guy shooting a 7.62 'pistol' with a comp it seems like.

Anyone know any gunsmiths(not armorers) in southern VA, from williamsburg to virginia beach.

>>

You seem to think that VA is a lot like the rest of the south or mid-west. Unless you start going out into the deep western part of the state VA is extremely crowded. Suburbs and urban areas EVERYWHERE.

Unless you have a few acres of land or know someone who does you won't be shooting anywhere except a shitty little public range, most of which don't even allow rifles.

Picked up a gen 2 320 carry 45acp for LEO prices.

Picked up a magpul 10/22 backpacker stock, its pretty nifty.

Had my winkler belt knife sharpened.

Talked for 2 hours with Gus Fisher(Gus Garands) while he inspected my M1A. FYI hes one of the few M14 expert gunsmiths in the country. Former USMC team rifle armorer.

Great weekend.

Any of you guys make it out to the gunshow in chantilly recently? Anything good there? I missed being there this year.

Are the gun laws in Virginia pretty no-restrictive? I may be moving down soon. (Although I come from New York so basically everything is better than up here)
>>
>>34726627

Yup. Only "restrictive" gun law is no open carry of rifles in certain cities without a concealed carry permit.

Be advised there are no Castle Doctrine or Stand Your Ground laws here. There isn't exactly a duty to retreat though either. We work based on "common law" here. But be noted if you end up shooting someone in your home who isn't armed, you're fucked in court.

You must have a "reasonable fear for your life" to shoot, and someone being in your home doesn't constitute that here.
>>
>>34726693
I thought the restriction on open carry was limited to a twenty round capacity if you didn't have a CCW (or whatever the acronym is down here)?
>>
>>34726407
It was actually the first time I ever went to the gun show in chantilly. Im in williamsburg, and usually go to shitty hampton show. Chantilly show is hands down worth the drive. Coming from california, I was surprised on how shitty the used gun quality was in VA. But at that gun show, it was hands down exactly what I imagined a gun show in a free state to look like.
>>
>>34727602
>I was surprised on how shitty the used gun quality was in VA.

Gun shows kinda suck yknow. Though, we dont have a very good armslist in the 757, unless you're looking to pay too much for a military guys unwanted ar15 or m&p.
>>
>>34726627
im from california, so I can relate to you. I would say gun laws are great here, EXCEPT, there is no castle doctrine, so if someone is in your house or trying to break into your car, you can only threaten them to get the fuck out of your house or step away from car. You can only shoot if they have a weapon AND your life is in immediate danger, as in they have to be taking a swing at you or have shot at you. And if you do have to shoot, shoot to kill, you dont want some degenerate suing you.

FYI, you will have a shit time finding a decent place to shoot your guns. The one thing I miss from california is the vast areas of public land to shoot in, the closest thing to public land for target shooting is in the very western parts of VA. The ranges here suck. Most you cant even shoot rifles while standing up. And most ranges are 100 yds max.

Lastly, if you end up in southern VA, youre gonna have trouble finding an actual gunsmith who can do machining work, most are just armorers who can put parts together.

I was just surprised, because coming from CA, the used gun market is fairly excellent in terms of quanitity and quality in the communist state.

The one real great thing about the hampton gun show is that one of the best m14 gunsmiths in the country has a stand and will talk the shit with you while inspecting your m1a with legit mil armorer tools.

For example, while doing his inspection, for 30$ mind you, he was telling me each area that would pass or fail and what to look for. Luckily, my M1a passed everything to pass usmc team standards, except the barrel was canted 1.5 degrees. And he doesnt pass anything thats above 1.3 degrees. He had this crazy guage that he had to use a magnifiying glass just to read the numbers.
>>
>>34727722
You're right, the range situation here is really the worst part about this state. Your best option is to find someone with land or to join a private shooting club, which there are a decent number of.

Unfortunately, the only gun clubs in my area, williamsburg, require being sponsored, and I dont know anyone. During the summer im stuck shooting at C2, and during the fall and winter I go shooting at the chickahomeny target range on the public land.

I can say this is a legit thing to do in some counties like Dinwiddie, Brunswick, and Lunenburg. Be ready to prove you have a proper berm, have a good distance between you and a neighbor if shooting in their direction instead of away, that your shooting away from roads, your a certain distance from county govt buildings, and possible noise issues if your neighbors work with horses.
>>
>>34727780

NOVA reporting in.

I go to Elite if I just need to sight something in.

If I want to spend a day shooting, I'll drive out to Peacemaker in WV, or over to Quantico.

Also, I'm RO certified at the Quantico Sniper school, and I could possibly open a long range shoot if a couple of anons ever wanted to go.

Anyone know if the Superior Pawn and Gun Range at Lynnhaven has any rules against picking up your brass?

I'm sure as hell not bringing my Enfield if they do. .303 is expensive and I need that brass.

So my day job is cybersecurity. Mobile apps have generally very coarse permissions meaning when one needs access to say scratch space you have to give it full disk access.

App vendors take advantage of this and will exfiltrate your data wholesale. Connect to Wi-Fi, disable your mobile data, then reboot your phone while you sniff it's Wi-Fi connection. A shitload of apps will send updates all over the world and its super evident @boot.

Brand and platform don't matter. I've not seen a smart phone yet that wasn't turrrrrible.

So anyways getting on discord now.
