Not to sound to much like /k/ but you could always look for a cheap milsurp while you save for a real gun. Sks is cheap halfway decent clip and is intimidating if you have the bayonet.

If you "partake" you're gonna have problems sourcing one. You won't be able to legally pass a 4473 if you're a user, so your only option is a private sale.
