The barrel's way too short for an M16, it's a different kind of AR.

Barrel's just slightly too long for that, but it might be a GAU-5A/A

Calling it now, by 2019/2020 there's going to be full on military occupation of europe by the caliphate.

the XM177 sound moderator on the end is fake, the barrel looks too thin to be a 5.56 too.

.22lr look-alike?

AR15=M16=AR15

M16 Is just what the military designates the AR15, same reason M9=92FS=M9

pic related is probably the shorter one.

fuck off, retard.

I thought the other thread was dead.

It's full of more shitposting too.

Receiver appears to be an A1 style, though the barrel is too long for it to be a genuine CAR15 variant.

>>34704504
GAU-5A/A has no forward assist. Also it's shorter than this.

>>34704510
It's too long to be an XM177E1

>>34704613
M16 is the US Military designation for a 20" select-fire AR15 to their specs.

>>34704697
The other thread came to the wrong conclusion though, it's not any CAR15, it looks more like a Colt SP1 or variant with a fake moderator on it.

5.56x45mm is pretty much the same bullet diameter as .22LR, to the point that you can use .22LR in a 5.56x45mm barrel (though I'd think twice on doing this in an AR15, as the soft lead could easily shave off in the gasport).
Early AR15s had slim 'pencil' profile barrels, lik pre-A1 M16s, as well as the M16A1 and all the CAR15 variants (which were based on the M16A1).

It appears to be some early AR15 variant similar to a Colt SP1, or perhaps a clone build, which might explain the fake Moderator (too long and the wrong shape) and too long barrel, if this was a rifle stolen from an enthusiast or collector somewhere who wanted to stay length compliant (either in Germany or some country elsewhere in Europe).
It seems to have a 3rd pinhole, which suggests that it could be select-fire, but AFAIK this hasn't been clarified by any official reports, and given that 3rd pinholes on AR lowers aren't actually restricted/controlled in Germany and many other places in Europe like it is in America, it's entirely possible that it just has the pinhole but doesn't have an auto sear. Hell, it could even be a lower with a fake pinhole and a searblock, such as ones made by Troy for their repro GAU-5A/A, which have them for the purpose of looking authentic.

Some think it's a genuine XM177E2 thus meaning it must obviously have been supplied by Israel, but A), it isn't, and B), it seems highly retarded to self-incriminate when they have endless other options to create substantially better plausible deniability while achieving the same end goals, and finally, C), Israel aren't the only people who could have supplied or sourced the weapon if it was the case.
The gun was sold commercially in the US as the Colt 629, and it's plausible that one of those could have made it's way around the world in untold ways.

Is that a full auto sear pin i see in that picture? Im gonna do some research on this shooting and come back. I think xm177 is correct

Barrel is too long to be an E1, E2 or a GAU5 (also it has a forward assist).
The moderator is fake (wrong shape and too long, the real moderators were shorter and had a telltale 'step' around the base)
It features a bayonet lug, which none of the CAR15 variants in production ever featured (since the barrel is too short to take a standard bayonet).
Further, we don't actually know for certain if the gun was select-fire or not, as third pin holes aren't regulated in Germany and many other places in Europe, so it's actually pretty plausible that it's a rifle that some enthusiast/collector was building somewhere, the pinhole could be added (or even faked) because they wanted authenticity and it's allowed, the barrel is longer because either Germany or whatever other place the gun came from doesn't allow the actual short length of a CAR15, and genuine Colt made Moderators are actually relatively uncommon (especially on civilian markets), since the ATF ruled them to be silencers in the US and Colt just issued a recall to everyone they had sold them to, most just sending them back to Colt because they didn't want to bother with more paperwork and cost.

The actual Colt moderator is also not very common in military circles these days either, as while they made for a lot less obnoxious muzzle blast and noise (it's been compared to shooting a rifle with an 18" barrel), they are not actually properly user serviceable, you can't disassemble the moderators and clean them in any easy way, so carbon and other fouling will inevitably build up over time and degrade their effectiveness. The CAR15 variants you still find in US service, if they featured moderators, usually have them replaced with regular birdcage flash hiders today, and this would likely be the case in Israel as well for most of them.

Why is the magazine still in? Bolt in battery? What kinds of dildos leave a gun like that for a news conference?

Look at an old Mini-14 from the 80's, you can have a pretty damn thin .223 barrel if it's well supported or if you don't intend to put a high volume of fire through it in a short time.

Old Mini-14 rifles would start to string their shots when warm, so you'd get subpar accuracy (like +6MOA) with any notable degree of rapid fire. The rifle would be fine, but until your gun cools down, you would just have worse accuracy, a rifle with a barrel that thin would be best suited for slower shooting.
