Whether or not it's even select-fire is not clear as it's not illegal to have a third pinhole in your AR receiver in many Euro countries, so it could be semi-auto still.

Somewhere, this rifle could have been stolen from some rightful owner, and the kebab bought it on the black market (or maybe he outright was the person who stole it from the original owner), maybe it was converted or maybe not.
If it's done on the old Colt SP1 spec, then you would technically not even need the third pinhole, as a Lightning Link (pic related) is super easy to make and would drop in with no modification needed, it will reliably make the hammer keep dropping as long as you hold down the trigger.

As a German you can get an illegal pistol on the blackmarket if you want to. But a military grade US rifle and 5,56 ammo, i don't know how to get hands on that.
You need to be muslim, and funded by a muslim nation who has the funds, and resources to get a weapon to germany.
Maybe Qatar, Kuwait, KSA, or etc.

It's not a military grade rifle, and just because you don't know where to get one doesn't mean it's not available.

Pistols are by far the favorite of the criminal underworld because of concealability, but there's always the small segment which want heavier weapons (typically as status symbols, but occasionally for gangwar/organized crime reasons, as well as bank robbery reasons).
If you know the right guy, and have the money, you could easily get a grenade launcher or machinegun, or hand grenades, they find a way.
