I could really benefit from a good night vision or IR system. I have been looking at some Gen 3 night vision rifle scopes for one of my AR builds. more specifically with a DBAL.

But, it seems like IR has a few advantages. It's more reistant to weather conditions specifically. I think the DBAL specifically has an IR illumination too, so it would work well with that as well.

I would like to hear feed back on both, if someone or a few people have used these, private or military. The costs of them don't seem TOO crazy. The quality has seem to gotten better, and the prices have come down pretty significantly over the last few years.

*FLIR or night vision
ftfy

And I'd say thermals.
>>
...get both?

Thermal sight would give you more information about the environment, I think.

However, NV goggles have a nice resolution for doing everything else.

How hard is it to get your hands on one of the four tube models?

Nobody seems to be selling to civilians. Also, they cost over 40,000 USD on Optics Planet.

can someone explain those four tube models. You aren't supposed to actually have them on like in this>>34702213 pic right? They are 2 different optics and you slide them side to side?
