Sure, but if it gets banned and Zastava picks up the slack I'm 90% sure it won't be 20 cents per round.
It'd be nice to have an AK I could crossload with my AR if I'm paying 25+cpr anyway.

I had a similar line of thinking when I got this slr 106. The sar 3 can use the steel East German mags unmodified but I have to remove some material from the frot to get it to seat right. One nice thing about the East German mags compared to the circle 10 polys, aside from the classic look. Is that they are slightly smaller and are roughly the same size as an ar15 mag so it fits in my Alice pouches.

>>
>>34703432
wrong, 7n6 was worse.
>>
>>34704725
So anything that would keep the old school Soviet Afghan war look look like a PSO or PKA won't let the stock lock to the side?
>>
>>34704074
About how much do you have into just one of your DPs? I wouldn't be able to reweld so I'd have to either pay someone else for it or get another receiver. From what I've seen the kits aren't terribly expensive at around $400-$500 depending on where you look, receiver from SMG is around $800, barrel from SMG is around $300, and even buying complete DPMs from SMG isn't terribly expensive in the grand scheme of things at $2800 or so considering how much it'd cost to have someone build one

I'm just really itching for a cool semi auto machine gun, either a ZB26 or Bren would be cool but a DP28/DPM seem to be easier to get and also cheaper while being just about as cool
>>
>>34704816

>>34704823
Should be about $850ea when I'm done and sell leftover parts. I highly recommend a semi lmg they're a blast, but not building it yourself is expensive, right now DPs are "cheap" and you can get all the parts from SMG currently which is a plus. When I got mine SMG wasn't building or making semi parts for a couple years.

Was gonna say i really love my valmet, had an m78 in 308 before but traded for this one cause its select fire. Imo the only acceptable 5.56 ak, the finns did it right. Smooth as fuck to shoot on full auto too, cause the stock is inline with the bore theres very little muzzle rise, just a gentle backwards push. I think if you got the cash valmets are really worth it, definitely worth it from a collectors standpoint too

Interesting.
I had been considering the PA 1-6x with ACSS reticle but this also looks good. Definitely wont interfere with HK slap but I dont't know if I want to give up variable power. Than again I would probably only use it as 1x or 6x anyways.

Looks like a converted Saiga. Someone threw an AR stock and grip adapter on it but that can be undone.

By converted, does that mean that it would take a normal AK buttstock and pistol grip without any expensive alterations?

You will probably have to buy a pistol grip screw and nut, and you won't be able to put regular AK handguards on there without doing a "Saiga front end conversion"

So what do you guys do when you want to shoot steel with your 74? you use Hornady or just whatever you have and you don't give a shit? I really want to shoot steel with it but Hornady is the only stuff I can find that's lead core and it's expensive.

>>
>>34708080
If you need to ask then you don't need them.
>>
>>34708333
>>34708299
That doesn't mean that there isn't steel in the projectile that will damage the targets my dudes. Virtually all 5.45x39 except Hornady has a bit-metal jack of copper and steel with a lead core. Hornady is the only stuff without any sort of steel in the projectile.
>>
>>34708374
Shit... so i'm probably going to have to suck it up and buy the Hornady stuff.
>>
>>34708333
If you are at an outdoor range that says no steel you need to find another range and never return. They have literally zero reason to ban it.
>>
>>34707801
i tried to find pricing but they dont have any up and im too busy during the day to call and ask what it would go for.
>>
>>34708408
But if you're shooting their steel targets can't having steel in the bullet damage their targets more then the lead stuff?

Most of the outdoor ranges around me I bring my own targets and I set up paper and i'll shoot whatever I want at that. But I want to get into competitions and I think most ranges have a policy that you can't use any sort of steel in the bullet against their targets cause they will wear them down faster. Please correct me if i'm wrong on anything.

There's a dude maybe one or two pages back in Austin selling a SAR-3 with Weiger mags for around the same price. I'd look into that if he hasn't sold it already.

This. Top barrel is .22 S,L,LR, bottom is .410 shotgun. Sadly the .410 takes 2" shells and those are unobtanium now. Stock folds out and locks.

The original bolt carrier was so poorly machined that it inhibited reliable function of the rifle. I fiddled with it, got it working a bit better but I couldn't reach all the material that had to be taken off with a dremel so it still had issues and instead of taking it to a gunsmith I bought a new bolt carrier. The new bolt carrier was wonky tonky and was doing what you see in the pic because the guides/whatever for the material on the bolt carrier were cut short so it was hoping out of the rails a bit so instead of dicking around with it or taking it to a gunsmith I just put a buffer in that prevents the bolt carrier from moving far enough back to jump off the rails.

What way was the rifle unreliable?

My WASR 10/63 did the exact same thing (carrier jumping the rails if you pull the charging handle with downward pressure). You can fix it by swapping recoil spring assemblies until you find one that works just right, or by putting more of a bevel on the area in pic related.

Recoil buffers solve the problem too, but bring their own issues.
>>
>>34710029
$45 new from any store. Guy said they were NIB, knocking $5 off for a NIB mag seems fair.

>I memba, good job for doing good off hand gunsmithing anon, have a rare Ian
What? Anyway, I think I'm going to just admit defeat and take the rifle with the original bolt carrier to a gunsmith and have them clean up the cam channel since the idea of having that buffer in muh rifle disgusts me. I'll just shoot it with the buffer and new bolt carrier to make sure it's the bolt carrier that's the problem and not something else. At this point I've spent as much time and money dicking around with it as it would take to have just gone to a gunsmith, tell them what I think is the problem, and have them fix it.

My very first gun, a Marlin 980S, bought used right next to UT Austin on my 19th birthday back in I think late 2009. My parents were appalled that years and years of trying to steer me away from guns had failed, and since then their failure in that respect has only become exponentially more apparent (though I've convinced my dad at least to start shooting on occasion now).

I really wish I could've gotten into guns earlier, but I never had the money to get super serious about it until around 2012, and we all know how that year went.

The shiny areas were too high and were causing too much friction which would prevent the bolt carrier and bolt to lock up/travel all the way.
>>34710185
Mine is doing it with a new bolt carrier, wasn't doing it with the old.
>>
>>34710215
I didn't know that. Doesn't change the value though since the (10)s are only part of it because he wanted me to throw 2 extra plums in, and I got the plums for $20.

Are all AK bayonets (except for actual AK47 bayonets) able to be used on different AK models without problem?

Also do they make good utility knives?

>Are all AK bayonets (except for actual AK47 bayonets) able to be used on different AK models without problem?
AKM and AK74 bayonets can be used on both.

>Also do they make good utility knives?
No, they don't hold an edge and are brittle. They are designed to stab, not be sharp and cut things with.

It truly is gypsy shit. Middle is Draco, far left is SLR-104FR, I believe.
>>
>>34710347
In theory, yes.
In practice, not necessarily.

No. Get a knife if you want a knife, bayonets are for stabbing.
>>
>>34710347
>re all AK bayonets (except for actual AK47 bayonets) able to be used on different AK models without problem?
AKM and AK-74 bayos are cross compatible
>Also do they make good utility knives?
They're shit. Don't hold an edge well, etc. Their wire cutting function with their scabbards are nice.
