Why...
>>
>>34699836
That's not a unusual price these days.
>>
I went by cabelas today and everything was outrageous. Gen 3 glocks for 580 bucks. I hope they follow gander mountain and fuckin die
>>
>>34699902
IIRC Bass Pro has been trying to buy them out.
>>
>>34699902
The trick to Cabelas is buying those $100 gift cards for $80 when they pop up. Then just waiting for a sale. They're uncommon but deals can be had. A few months ago, they were selling Hi Point C9's with a Kershaw knife for $99.
>>
>>34699928
Bass pro sucks cock
>>
>>34699944
What a steal
>>
>>34699928
they did
>>
M39s prices never were uniformly decent until classic started dumping pat burn's collection onto the market all at once, only jewing off the obviously uncommon ones. 250-600 was normal on her site just 4-5 years ago when guns were listed individually.

>>34699902
Cabela is an ok place to buy a gun if you know how to play it. Gift cards from ebay and price matching. They actually price match brownell's and midway now.

Wait for sale, or if it's a used gun, try to negotiate.
>>
>>34699944
so instead of getting a shit gun and shit knife for cheap you got a shit gun and shit knife for slightly cheaper.

amazing.
>>
>>34699991
I'm just waiting for a nice tiger stripe one. I'm budgeting $600 for it. it'll be the only mosin i buy and i damn well want it to look cool.
>>
>>34699836
Because the days of cheap milsurp are gone forever. They will only get more expensive, and in fact they're likely to get a lot more expensive very quickly. A few years ago we passed the point where you'll never see sub-$100 milsurps again, we're just about at the point where we won't see sub-$200 milsurps again (the Spanish Mausers will be pretty much the last of those), and within a very few years, there won't be any such thing as sub-$500 milsurp. The new standard babby's first rifle/poorfag gun is a $400 AR, or maybe a $200 Maverick 88 if you're super poor. The next ten years on /k/ is going to be dogged with threads where people bitch endlessly about how milsurp ought to be cheap like it was in the old days, in the same way that my grandma bitches about how movie tickets used to cost a quarter and a coke should still cost five cents.
>>
>>34700002
Oh, I didn't buy one. I had a bit to much self respect for that, but $80 for a rooty tooty point-n-shooty and a wal mart knife is pretty incredible. Especially from a store sellibg $500 norinco SKS's.
>>
>>34700064
I have no self respect, becuase I bought that bundle. I actually like the gun, but I did sell the knife for 30 bucks. It's actually a kershaw scallion
>>
>>34700054
I know it's wishful thinking but what if some of the import bans are lifted on places like China and Russia?

I picked up a 1942 K-31 in mint, unfucked condition for $250 from Cabela's. Still had the soldier it was issued to's name on a piece of paper under the stock.
>>
>>34700151
That would slow down the price rise on SKSes and maybe SVT-40s for a while, but that's about it. The cheap Mosin boat has left the dock forever. Part of what went into that is that the Mosins we got for cheap in America were exported in the 90s and early 00s, at a point where the Russian economy was a wreck and generals would gladly sell off warehouses full of old rifles for $10 a pop to raise enough money to feed their soldiers. These days, Russians have disposable income (and not-terrible gun laws by European standards), and will gladly pay $300-400 for a Mosin right there at home. Nobody will ship them all the way to America and deal with piles of ATF paperwork to sell them to Americans for $99 anymore. That's reality.
>>
>>34700229
gun library is hit and miss. Some places know their shit, some don't.

Paid 400 hundred dollar svt-40 (of course though, I also used gift cards). They said it was becuase the bore was shit. It was far from mirror shine, but it wasn't sewer pipe either. Not a hundred percent condition, but I've seen worse guns sell for 800-900.

I've not shot it yet, but I have taken it apart and the PO never really cleaned the gun or lube it at all, so it looks much worse than it is.

That's the way any market for antiques goes. In the 70s, people were smashing up '57 Chevys in demolition derbies because they were considered old junk. Today people restore them as priceless classics. A few years ago, you could literally buy Atari 2600 games for ten cents each at flea markets. Today they're digging cartridges out of garbage dumps in New Mexico so they can sell them as collectors' items. That's how it goes.

My '54 Tula was a decent find for $400 from a Cabelas gun library.

Very strange price considering it was all matching numbers except the magazine and a missing bayonet which I replaced.

Just find out who the gun guy is and talk to him. They usually make deals. I got them down from 799 to 600 on a Colt revolver I wanted. Plus I did their bullshit credit card thing and got another 40 off. Didn't even need to use the card.

The thing I hate about their credit card is that they insist you be a citizen to take one out. The fat fuck who kept pushing it on me got super pissy when I showed him my green card.
>>
>>34700791
Ah. This is not a problem I encountered. That sucks.
>>
>>34700674
What sucks is that if it wasn't for the nfa we'd be swimming in cheap full retard akm's, g3's, m16 a1s, m14s, fal's, galil's.....
>>
>>34700867
Not just the nfa but 922r. If it wasn't for 922r, we'd probably have $250 semi auto Cetme's right now.
>>
>>34700791
I work at cabela and I've never been told that the card can only be for citizens. In fact, I've signed up a few permanent residents. The only thing that the club booth people check are the ID and that you have a social on the form.

Then again, they don't tell us much aside from the fact to push the fucking card. They really want employees to get at least 10 a year. I'm done with my 10 for the year, so I don't give a fuck. Some people are obsessed with getting cards though, since there are actual incentives and shit. There's a guy that works in my store that abandons his department to get cards by wandering the store, which he's really good at, so none of the managers give him any grief.
>>
>>34699836

It's cabelas, do you expect any thing less? Mine here sells used as fuck M&P ars for 800.
>>
>>34700921
Most of the ARs in the library are left overs from the scare. 800 means they probably acquired it for 550ish. The library can't just lower the price after the AR market flat lined becuase corporate doesn't allow tag changes without their say so. Libraries can still do informal discounts though, and mine will be more than happy to discount you an AR

Another pro tip not a lot of people seem to know about. cabela discounts the entire transaction for mil and vets 5% on top of other discounts. Now, I think it's bullshit that first responders also don't get it, so I give them discounts too (but still put it in as mil). I don't care if you're an EMT, FF, or shit, even just a armored car driver, I'll give you a discount.
>>
>>34699991
>prices were low until supply expanded

>>
>>34700982
that's not what i said
>>
>>34700669
>>34700761
Fuck you too.
>>
>>34700966

The thing is, you can go to their gun counter, buy a new one for cheaper. The used one is just a stock AR too, no upgrades. New glocks are like 700+ too. Oh well, I dont expect any less from the jews, this is why I go to all the smaller gunships instead, or order online.
>>
>>34701085
Yes, I know that you can get new cheaper right now. My point is that the libraries hands are tied in terms of pricing since they can't just change the price tag to reflect the current market due to company policies.

And cabela glocks are indeed usually priced higher than other places, but you can get a 17 gen 3 or like 550 new and a gen4 for like 580 IIRC. They aren't grossly over priced, and like mentioned earlier, you can price match local stores within 100 and a few online stores.

I ain't going to tell you to not support your LGS, but you can get guns for a decent price at cabela's if you shop around as well. Cabela is more trying to profit off new gun owners who don't do any research or take advantage of any of the discount opportunities we have. I personally tell them about price matching, and I even tell them to actually go shoot before buying, but they can't be assed to do so 90% of the time and rather just pay the premium and buy a gun with no experience whatsoever.

And you'd be surpsied at the amount of people who do online transfers through cabela's. I'm actually shocked people pay the fucking 50 bucks when there's a store not 15 minutes away that does it for 15. I even tell them but they don't mind paying.

>>
>>34701085
To actually go get a gun for a decent price you have to wait for a sale and also wait for those discounted gift cards that pop up. That's how I got my henry big boy for 550.

Or you get really lucky and get some milsurp from the gun library that they have no idea what it is. I got an FR8 for $230 that way.

My local Cabela's has a Norinco SKS that's been beat to everloving shit on sale for 700 fucking dollarydoos, I laughed in the associates face when she told me it was a good deal because they're "rare". I'm only ever using my LGS from now on.

>>
>>34701168

This. you guys had some of those CZ99 rifles a few years ago. Got one for $159.99 IIRC. Love the damn thing. I think they're higher now.

>>34703605

>I'm only ever using my LGS from now on.

You're missing out on opportunities. I have places that I hate going into but I still go into them; because every once in a while, you'll get a hell of a deal. One LGS I know of that is notoriously overpriced, well one time he had a Steyr GB magazine in his "grab bin". Now he charges $20 for mags from that grab bin, which is fucking stupid, but I flipped that Steyr mag for $175. He also had two pre-ban Glock mags in that same bin, also $20 each, that I flipped for $50 and $80.

That wasn't even the worst of it, this dumb broad went on to tell me that it was the one of the few guns that could legally have a bayonet, and then said she could even throw in a TapCo mag for me if I bought it today. I noped the fuck out of there to my LGS and saw they have a Remington Model 10-A for 190 bucks, not a thing wrong with it. With my next paycheck she's mine.

I have no clue to be honest, but she knew fuck all about the things she was trying to sell. And the fudd behind the counter kept eyeballing me like I was gonna steal some guns like that other retard did a few weeks ago, I didn't believe the rumors about how shit big box gun stores were, but god damn it I do now.
>>
>>34703949
Why do you want them to talk to you? As long as they come over to the register to check you out I don't see the problem. I'd rather gun store employees just fuck around and talk about video games than try to sell me some shitty blackhawk! holster or something equally useless.
>>

This works for everything except used guns priced below what's on the tag. My store had a guy get his 5% discount on marked down guns and corporate freaked out because we were out $20k on those guns.

I agree with you on the first responders not getting a discount. LEOs are awesome.

My store gives discounts on library guns all the time, and during last month library purge, people were double and even triple dipping during friends and family. Below tag is perfectly fine, but If it does go below acquisition price though (or with new guns, summit pricing), then we either comp them ammo or give them a gift card. The only we we can't do is actually change the tag to try an move shit that's been sitting and 95% of customers don't haggle so they never fucking move. Looking at you fucking ARs. At least the 3000+ shotguns will occasionally sell, but fucking no one wants boutique ARs anymore.

The gun library here is like the top five in the district though, so maybe we get a bit more freedom in terms of informal discounts to move stuff. We get sent left overs from other stores.
