Yeah, I mean I got this thing as a promo for only $500 as part of their first run. Everyone shits on it on /k/ because its not an arsenal and its made by century.

They actually got their shit together on the C39 tho. I have put about 3500 rounds through it and had zero issues. Its a great woods gun.

Mostly to the mainland, there are a few nice clubs to shoot at but mostly you've got to find someone with private property that's big enough to shoot on and who's ok with you shooting which is hard to do. Mostly I just go out innamountains because it's more fun to shoot alone in the wilderness than at a club

Seriously dude. Just try it. They really arent trash. Are there better? Yeah. Saiga or arsenal are better. But that doesnt make something trash. Its a decent mid level AK.

Its better than shoddy parts kits with canted sights and funky welds. Its not as good as some $1600 top shelf VEPR. Its just an average gun that does everything I need it to.

Dude, American AKs have very poor metallurgy. Long story short, most of the important parts aren't made with the proper steel, nor are they heat treated correctly. It's like saying that your Taurus revolver is just as good as everyone else's S&Ws

Citation needed. Because im not joking. In the last 18 months I have put 3500 rounds through mine. Your claims of poor metallurgy just dont seem to be adding up here in the example I have right in front of me.

Im only 1500 rounds away from the supposed self destruct mark and this rifle shows no signs of poor metallurgy or shoddy crafstmanship. Its got about exactly the level of wear a rifle with 3500 rounds through it ought to have.

I again restate my opinion: some guy with a youtube channel is not an authority on metalurgy or gunsmithing.

In any case, people keep telling me its shit with no concrete citations but it still just keeps on shooting. Thats all the info I need to say im happy with my rifle.

Be forewarned tho. Its nigh impossible to make a real living out here. Low population and low income = getting paid 1/2 to 1/3rd less than if you were elsewhere.

We jokongly call it the fresh air tax. You get awesome access to nature and almost zero gun restrictions but pay is a lot less.

For instance Im a carpenter, pretty good one too. I get $15 an hour. Elsewhere in the USA guys doing my job get anywhere from $25 to $35 an hour. I have had to accept a much lower income to be able to live here.

I consider it worth it, maybe yall would too. Just be forewarned, if you move here and dont like it our lower incomes give a black hole effect where you cant afford to move back to anywhere else where wages and prices are higher.

Its easy to move here. Its very difficult to leave.

I say this not to bash the gun, but for your safety:

Right now and every 500ish rounds, check headspace with a gauge.
Check front trunnion and bolt for signs of stress or cracking
Check all rivets to make sure they aren't opening up

Heres the mistake folks like you make. They go "well yeah! I could take a pay cut."

So instead of a new car every 5 years you buy a decade old used car every 10. No more fancy vacations to exotic places? No more impulse buying a new gun? Etc etc etc.

So they go "yeah! Who needs all that stuff anyways! I can be without!" Well..... its not like a "and if I decide I dont like a lower standard of living (matierialistically speaking) I can just always go back! Right?"

Well..... if you move from a place making $5600 a month to a place making $3200 a month its awfully difficult to go back. How do you say, move back to LA to regain that high pay after deciding you didnt like montana when rent there is $3000 a month?

People who dont like it here get stuck here, then they begin to utterly LOATHE this place.

Not to be a downer either, others love it and never want to leave. Just gotta be willing to put up with driving 10 year old cars and having meth heads for neighbors an shit.

My buddy did IT. He had to drive a lot. Montana is a state bigger than a lot of countries with on 1 million people. Its 4, 5, and 6 hour drives to get to other places who want you to fix shit. If I were you I would live in bozeman, helena, great falls or billings.

Missoula is more lucrative than those ones but its also a liberal stronghold trying to politically style itself a bit after seattle and portland.

Bit of a burr there, but after 3500 rounds thats to be expected, and can be remedied in 15 seconds with a whet stone and file.

Look dude, im fucking telling you. There is nothing getting ready to critically fail on this weapon. Im not going to pull the damned thing apart all the way down to rivets to prove it.

It shoots good. Its not getting ready to shit out. Its a midlevel AK I can drag out into the rain or through the brush that I dont have to feel bad about, but its a bit better than a rickety parts kit with canted sights.

Would I like a VEPR or Arsenal? Fuck yeah. But this is what I got and im happy with it.

circular logic fallacy. Yes. Century made some stupendously horrid parts kits in the past. This isnt one of them. If you like yugo slavshit then hey, power to ya. But dont be some faggot who just repeats memes hes heard word of mouth with zero solid citations then gets a sandy vagina when shown evidence that he's wrong.

Just because you ignore them/pretend they don't real doesn't mean that two years of kaboomed guns, rifles losing headspace, and a variety of other issues don't real.

We deal with this shit ever single fucking day. Because all those people who have had issues, documented issues, with shitty soft bolts and the bolt carriers breaking or wearing out don't real?
>>
>>34709152
You cant post anything solid. So it must not be that many. If this was a garbage tier gun youd think whipping out google and finding atleast one sold verifiable citation would be easy.

Im not asking for much here man. Im not asking you to say my rifle is the best thing since sliced bread. Im not comparing it to a VEPR or WASR or Arsenal. Im not even saying they are better than soviet original stock.

All ya gotta do is admit its not trash. Thats all im askin.
>>
>>34709260
It's Trash. You're setting up for moving the goal post with "one solid verifiable citation" because the dozens of documented cases of people's RAS-47's and C39's doing stuff from experience massive amounts of deformation to RAS-47's literally exploding on people... but of course that's not "solid verifiable", right? Get fucked. I'm doing you a favor even replying because we, on this board, have been over this every single fucking day and after a while, dragging up a bunch of shit for some fucking moron that can't do a bit of real research before buying isn't worth it. Have fun with your gamble.

I just get so tired of slavaboos and mall ninjas telling me that anything that didnt cost $1800 or wasnt imported from some former soviet nation is shit. I mean yeah theres way nicer stuff out there but that doesnt suddenly mean other stuff doesnt work.

Heres what I see with most of the century gun failures:
>HURR IMMAH BUMP FIRE IT!
>WELL IM GONNA RUN 5,000 ROUNDS THROUGH MINE WITH NO OR LITTLE MAINTENANCE!
>FUCK BOTH A YOU! IM GONNA TRY TO HAMMER A STOCK THAT DONT FIT IN WITH A MALLET!

>can you belive bumpfiring my C308 cracked the reciever?
>oh I'd buy it. I was only able to fire 5,000 rounds in 6 hours before my bolt cracked!
>yeah well get this shit! I found out my century AK has a warped reciever and its brand spankin new! All I did was try to put a tapco on it and it broke!

Im not even joking about the bumpfire story either. Some anon came on /k/ saying his brand new C308 broke after only 800 rounds. Finally admitted hed been simulating full auto fire with it for 800 rounds straight in one sitting.

As long as yoh treat them right and dont try to make them do stupif shit a higher value gun might be able to survive theyre fine.

Fuck. I got sent to afghan with this stupid piece of shit (pictured at ITX a few weeks before deploying.) Finish was peeling off and turning fuckin purple, buffer spring had a hellacious sproing to it, no matter how clean and lubed it was when you worked the action the BCG sounded like you were dragging it through a gravel pit. It wasnt even a real M16A4. It was an old M16A2 that had simply been retooled into A4 specs.
I just had to make it work. I used LSA instead of CLP for lube and kept it obsessivley clean. It got me through.

THAT was a trash rifle. I would take C39 over it any day. I would take something better if it was available mind you, but if it was my only choice between THAT piece of trash, or my C39 I would choose my C39.

mind me asking what year(s) you deployed? thats impressively bad logistics / eqpt management.
>>
>>34711528
It was 2014, we were the last Marine infantry battalion in helmand at the time. Though thats a joke, there were only about 400 of us, we'd been forced to leave most of our battalion behind in the USA. Obama had promised the war would be over that year, it wasnt, but the media was reporting as if it was and everything was retrograded. Logistics were shit, more focused on hiding that we were still fighting than actually fighting. I was there to watch the country go to shit and serve as a rear guard to all the fobs that were retrograding.

Our tactics were supposed to be disruption. We'd raid the shit outta taliban staging areas, stockpiles, and bedroom communities. (Believe it or not even taliban take leave, a big part of our job was kicking in the door at 3 am while they slept in thier homes with thier families so theyd never truly feel safe). We mainly suceeded. They were too busy reacting to our belligerence and constant hopping from one key logistics site to another to mount any serious assaults on our rear areas. (In as much as that war HAD rear areas).

But yeah. My horrible rifle. We were SUPPOSED to switch over to the new M4's but since I was just a boot lance my NCOs told me I didnt rate a nice rifle and stuck me with that piece of shit. I managed to kill a guy with it even. Desperation is the mother of necessity. (Fuck necessity. Desperation trumps that shit). I managed to hone my skills with a M240 bravo good enough toting it around became my job. Mixed blessing. We had only 5 pistols for the entire company and sure as rain our officers snatched em up. Mostly so they could stroll about the rear areas and not have to carry heavy rifles. Which meant us machine gunners required "side arms" had to be rifles.

So I spent months carrying a 240 machinegun, ammo for it, AND a full length m16 plus ammo for that. I was entireley reliant on my assistant gunner to carry my food and water.

Following that we deployed to ramadi in iraq 2015-2016. Well.... my squad did. I made corporal, ended up squad leader. My squad were freshly expierienced and blooded in combat. Navy SEALs requested such a squad and mine was chosen.

We spent close to a year in Ramadi while it was still hot as QRF, overwatch, and general extra muscle for the shit the Navy SEALs were doing there against ISIS.

Cool part about being squad leader tho, I got an HK M27 IAR. Best fucking gun ive ever touched. Semi auto with bipod its 1 MOA which made it 3 or 4 MOA better than my old worn out M16.

It also had true full auto function. 900 rpm. Between my expierience as a machine gunner, and its 1 MOA accuracy I could fuckin cut shit in half with that thing like a laser.

Best fucking rifle I have ever carried. Marksman accuracy with a giggle switch over to full retard. I think its the perfect infantry weapon, and was not the least suprised that one of general mattis's first decisions as secretary of offense was to phase it in as the standard marine infantry weapon.

God bless that man. I met him once believe it or not. He had recently just "retired" under obama. Stopped by our marine corps ball. Great guy, very very humble. He literally radiates a sense that at heart he genuinley longs to be just a simple lance corporal out there doing hoodrat shit against the enemy.

He understands the enlisted struggle and genuinley seeks to make it better. He listened to our stories about shitty rifles and being literally forgotten about in afgan. When he made secdef we literally had a battalion wide 3 day barracks party. It was like one of our own squad mates made it into the whitehouse.
>>
>>34711298
You seem to be a man after my own heart. I'm shifting to the US in a few months, what's the pleb rifle du jour? I had a look at those C308s, and assorted Del-Ton 15s.
>>
>>34711844
Quite frankly, as cliched as it sounds an excellent starter rifle is pretty much any SKS that hasnt been shot to pieces. Its simple, tough, cheap, accurate enough to learn basic marksmanship with.

Git gud on some cheap milsurp rifle then switch over to something thats better. Though, I urge you to avoid delton. It really truly is trash tier. For only about $150 more you could get a ruger 5.56 as an excellent entry leven AR15 for about $500.

Im not sure which delton youre referencing but I have a sneaking suspicion you are thinking of one of thier hybrid rifles. Avoid polymer lowered AR15s man. They made sense when we were all planning to stockpile guns for the revolt against hillary's inevitable assault weapon ban renewal but in a post gun panic market they are just really trashy.
>>
>>34711861
>basic marksmanship

m8

Much as I thought with the cheapo ARs then, they're just dumping the dross.
I'm personally happy enough with a fudd-tier bolt gun, but there are going to be considerably more armed niggers and retards around than I'm used to or comfortable with, so I reckon having a semi available is not a bad idea if it's not costing much. C308s not inherently bad though?
>>
>>34711936
Long as you understand C308s arent actually military weapons youll be fine. Dont try to force it to perform like a true CETME with lots of sustained rapid fire or shooting hot loads through it.

The reason century gets a bad rap is because all thier weapons LOOK like military weapons. So people try to abuse em like they are then get disappointed. Give em proper maintenance, dont try to do anything crazy, and dont force crazy loads through it and it will run just fine.
