Quick n' dirty shot placement at medium to close range, especially where you may not have space or the time to line up the sights. Got one on my CCW for that reason, shoot from the hip if need be.

That's why you control it with an easy access remote switch and don't keep it on all the time like a fucking Light saber. IR laser is no different if the enemy also has NVG.
