What sort of degree should I study? I was thinking of doing a bachelors degree of the arts (majoring in international relations and political science) and a diploma of language (majoring in Russian)... Are these qualifications of value to intelligence agencies/DOD?
Just get an AR15

They are, but you haven't got much hope as an analyst if you have to come to 4chan for easily googled information.

>bachelor of arts
Sure, you'll find employment..... as a burger flipper.
Go STEM or go home. Since you want to become an intelligence analyst and work for the US government, get a dual major in Computer Science and Mathematics, with double minors in Political Science and International Relations. An important thing to keep in mind is that the government will NOT hire you if you go shit tier universities such as State level universities. You need a diploma from an Ivy League or from an university on that level of prestige and excellence. I know you won't make it, someone who posts on /k/ doesn't have the attention span necessary to get as far as Calculus, so I'm just telling you to give up on that dream in advance.

History, languages (plural), statistics, gis (especially photogrammetry and cultural geography), mathematics, computer science, etc. Honestly, it's not that hard. If you've got a clean record, apply for a CIA or NSA internship. Their public service reps are usually pretty helpful. Otherwise, enlist and apply for the intelligence service.

All of this is wrong.
CIA hires people with BA in relevant areas all the time and spending 8 years in a private collage then leaving without a doctorate makes you look like a fucking retard, not someone anybody wants to hire.
For an analyst most of your degree is going to be irrelevant anyway. political science and Russian is just fine, it means you will be signing up to spend your time as a translator and junior analyst on boring ass intercepts, but someone has to do it.

Cryptography, mathematics and computer science is a path that leads to 14 hour days in a icebox with no sunlight getting paid 1/5th of what you could make private sector, and you won't be an analyst.

You don't have much life experience, do you
