/k/, what are some aesthetic or otherwise neat .22s that can be gotten for under $400? I'm in the market for a .22 rifle, and unfortunately most of the stuff on the market is purely utilitarian. Right now I'm considering the Marlin Model 60, the Henry AR7, or a Henry levergat. I don't have any specific needs for reliability or "combat readiness", I just need a plinker that is cool or looks nice.

Don't buy the Ar7

Get the Henry Golden Boy, it's legitimately one of the most accurate guns I own and I got it for ~$300 because the barrel was dirty, but it cleaned up in less than an hour to a mirror shine

All other sub $400 22LR rifles < CZ-452 Ultra Lux
>>
>>34694786
just curious, how many other sub $400 22LR rifles have you fired?
>>

i have read in numerous sources that the AR-7 is not a very good rifle. it's made for backpacking anyway, not fun shooting.

i would suggest the ruger american in 22WMR. TONS of value in that rifle. it has features that you would pay a premium for in any other rifle, built in for a great price.

I recently got a SCAR clone in 22 just for fun for $260. it's surprisingly solid.
>>
>>34694851
i would look at these options too. the GSG guns, and other re-pro semi-auto .22lr guns are cool.

I also have a Henry survival takedown rifle like in OP's pic, and a Marlin 925.

The Marlin 925 is not bad at all. I would say its the best sub-$200 22LR rifle.

But the Ultra Lux puts them to shame. CZ has the balls to put iron sights on it that go to 300 yards.

Pic is my Ultra Lux.

Get a 10/22 and make it look or shoot like whatever you want.
>>
>>34694974
Can you make it shoot like a bolt action rifle?
>>
>>34695005
Got me there. OP didn't specify needing it to be bolt of lever action. He just said it has to look nice and be cool.

I went out and picked up this Ruger 10/22 Takedown today for like $370. Comes with a carry bag, so that's nice.
>>
I bought a henry 22 levergat with an octagon barrel for 500ish maplebucks, should be just under 400 usd by some change. Absolute blast to shoot if you love levergats but dont want to spend a lot on ammo.
>>
>>34694620
The lack of reliability from the ar7 seriously hinders the fun. Unless you are using cci mini mags or maaaaybe stingers, you won't get through a whole magazine without a jam. It's shitty to hold, shitty to aim, and it's built like a toy, it honestly feels like a nerf gun. Don't buy one.

Thanks, but I'm in canuckistan
>>34694974
Most custom 10/22s I've seen look tacky as fuck, and the nice ones have another $500 dumped into them

Picked up a Stevens visible loader for bout 300 a week ago. I only use SV or shorts in it but it's a real head turner at the range
>>
You could go pick up a decent Winchester bolt action for under $300. But you're kind of a fag so maybe you should stick with a Marlin.
