So will guns become all polymer in the future the way things are going?
The only new guns being produced without polymer lowers/frames are older designs like the AR-15, CAS shit, wonder nines like beretta 92, sig 226 or cz 75, and revolvers. Everything else is polymer.
Will there be a day when everything is polymer, save for repros of old guns?
Who fucking cares about automatics? When do we get polymer revolvers?
That pic is obviously a malfunction due to the user, usp's dont do this, glocks on the other hand...

yeah keep telling yourself twice the price of a glock really makes a difference there.

I assume polymer technology is improving all the time. Plastic fantastics are more than just trending at this point. If there will be a super material in the future that's lighter, stronger, and cheaper than steel, why not just use that, right? Unless it's a matter of taste. All steel pistols might get special retro treatment in the future, maybe in the same way vacuum tubes are now.

The worlds running out of Plastic
We have mined to much of it so far!
>>34689404
Im thinking it got ran over with a vehicle.
The way its cracked is not from firing the weapon.
>>34689365
fiber reinforced plastic are equal to aluminum
>>34689365
I think the manufacturing process is the next great advancement we will see, like 3D printing from home, and the designs from that. Programmers will be the new gunsmiths.
The problem is most programmers dont understand the mechanics or the finer details of ergonomics in firearms.
Closly followed by improvements on the ammunition or projectiles like caseless, battery powered, or magnetic.

>>34689365
There are polymer ar15 lowers.
>>34689365
how does this even happen
Yes. It's lighter and cheaper, that's enough incentive for anyone. Carbon fiber is another upcoming material.
>>34689939
Not yet for rifle uppers. The good modern designs use some aluminum to hold the barrel, otherwise you get the G36 situation. Like the SCAR, ACR, Tavor, and AUG have metal where the barrel and gas system are. I think carbon fiber could change that though since it's much more heat-resistant than polymer.

Polymer fags always say it was a bad batch whenever it fails.

I think Dragon Slayer has it right it appears to have been crushed somehow. The safety has snapped off but the frame under the safety is undamaged.

>>34689404
Did you flip your damage control switch too early? Nobody implied anything of the sort.
>>34689404
Obviously hk does do it since there's tons of pictures of them exploding in the exact same way.
>>34689901
>The way its cracked is not from firing the weapon.
Lotta HK owners throwing their guns under cars then.

De Nile ain't just a river in Egypt.

>polymer
Its plastic. Don't blame all polymers for plastic failures.
Wood did nothing wrong.
niggas gonna fanboy up in this bitch -- owned a glock 17 and a usp 45 best 2 damn pistols i have ever had
>>34691652
Nig are you seriously implying a wood stock won't crack?
>>34689394
uh where the fuck you been?
>>34691798
Glock 17 and VP9 for me.
polymer is just a fancy word for plastic
poorfag guns for poorfags
bought myself a polymer frame walther PSS blowback BB gun and thats as far as Im willing to trust that shit.

Yeah... so... pictures on the Internet with out a credible source and explanation mean absolutely dick. Same goes for Glocks, "Freedom Group" Remingtons, etc

>Muh teutonic cannon steel folded 1000 times cannot be damaged in the natural course of use
>Must be a camera trick
>Or they were sabotaged by Glock
More likely some idiot wasn't inspecting for defects and let a crack grow while they were sitting on the thing 8 hours a day.

Over pressure cartridge, same as every gun that blows up.
>>34692083
>Over pressure cartridge, same as every gun that blows up.
no. when just the frame is visibly damaged, it's more likely case head rupturing, gas escaping and cutting the frame to bits. the barrel-slide lockup holds and those parts remain fine. it's faulty/worn brass that's the reason.
>>34691861
Dumb fudd. Polymers are a family of materials which include amber, silk, ,wood and tons of other things. Handgun polymer is not just "plastic" (you're probably thinking of a common plastic like polyethylene). It is usually a fiberglass reinforced nylon composite.
>>34689365
>Will there be a day when everything is polymer, save for repros of old guns?
Smaller companies will probably continue to produce metal framed guns because injection molding has such a high start up cost and really only saves you money after a certain point.
I know Hudson has been talking up the fact that their gun is all metal but it's more to do with their manufacturing capacity than any intrinsic quality differences.
>just put 45 super through it bro
