Are arsenal AK's worth the 1400$ price tag?
>>34681992
That is a milled Arsenal.
The stamped variants including the newer budget oriented ones are where the value is at.

are you referring to the SLR 107's? Only reason I am drawn to the milled receivers is because its more authentic.

> milled receiver
> more authentic
lol yeah I guess if you don't know anything about AKs at all

>are you referring to the SLR 107's?
The 107FR and the 107 (if that's what the budget one is called), yes.
>Only reason I am drawn to the milled receivers is because its more authentic.
Funny, the SAM7 rifles suffer from "identity" issues" so to speak. They're far from what an "AK47" would be.
>milled AK
>90 degree gas block, this is seen on the AK74 and AK100 series of rifles
>lacks ported gas tube like the original Type 3 AK47
>muzzle device
>side rail
I haven't talked about AKs in a long time so I'm definately missing one thing, I know I am but you get the point. It's as authentic as Taco Bell is to Mexican cuisine.
The SAM7 Classic is closer to what you want but they're expensive as shit and quite rare. If one wants a near identical Type 3 AK47, a Polytech Legend or an old Type 3 Polish parts kit would be called for.
Again, I'm pretty fuzzy on AK stuff so anyone more knowledgeable, feel free to correct me.

the first AK's were milled

Thanks, im an AR fag and wanting to get into AK's and ive heard great things about arsenal. I appreciate the advice.

You're absolutely welcome. Everyone should have an AK if they're interested in them and Arsenal is top notch with only their finish being mediocre which does not affect function at all.
If you have to own one AK, make it an Arsenal, I own an SGL31 and an SLR107FR and they're fantastic guns you can rely on with your life.
If you do decide to get a SAM7 and wish to put wood on it to make it feel more authentic, do it. Get some surplus Russian AK47 furniture along with a leather sling. In my opinion, close enough is fine for the sake of budget and avoiding headaches.
Fuck the police, I would rather spend the money saved on ammo and being able to enjoy my rifles

This is about as authentic to a "true" AK47 you're going to get in the States
>>34682099
False. The first AKs were stamped, the quality wasn't good enough so they moved to milling, and came back to stamping by the 3rd generation.
>>34682099
The original Type 1 AK-47s were stamped, but they had quality problems & inconsistent results due to immature stamping technology.
They switched to milled receivers for the Type 2 and Type 3 AK-47s, and did not return to stamped receivers until the AKM.

No, and the $1200 I dropped for the SLR106FR was a hard pill to swallow too. It's amazing how a properly built AK rifle can cost so much when a mil spec AR can cost as little as $700...

In-country mass manufacturing is a great thing. Soon we will be looking at $300 AR's.

AK authenticity gripes aside, yes. you or your great great grandson will never find a way to break it or make it stop functioning, which i assume is what you want an AK for.
would just get a stamped one tho, you're not getting anything else functionally by paying $300 more for the milled reciever
