Either your roomie stole the shit himself, or you got hit by lazy thieves. You can cut into those safes in 5 minutes with an angle grinder.

I wonder why he'd steal his own stuff. They apparently didn't get anything of mine. Also, crackheads tend not to carry angle grinders around with them.

For smash and grab by non drugged out thieves, you might have to worry about them having at least a crowbar or hammer.
If you got hit by professionals, then you really would've benefited from a well positioned and bolted strudy safe, home alarm system to give them an actual time limit, and insurance.

I got a bolted down safe last week, feels good man.

Maybe you should consider living somewhere with a lower concentration of trash addicts that carry around power tools to get smack money.

Cop here. You'd be surprised how long burglars are willing to stay in a home. Ive worked cases where they stopped ransacking to cook food for themselves.
Alarms are great. They are a deterrent mostly because burglars know their time inside will be greatly limited, and not many of them are doing random smash and grabs.

A much cheaper deterrent is just to put up one of those "protected by faggot security systems" signs and not bother with the alarms that barely work
