My birthdays in September along with finishing EMT school in August and I'm looking to by myself a new pistol. The only pistol I have are all carry guns (2 j-frames and an LCP) and I want something to enjoy at the range. Looking at the Mak PMs from classic at $275 or a Beretta 92s from Buds for $299. What do you guys think?

Do EMTs carry on the job often? I know they must go to crappy ares pretty frequently, although I assume the volume of accident calls far outweighs the number of shootings and stabbings, etc.

Not supposed to, some do. I'm not on the job yet, the plan is fire/medic so I'll decide when I get there.

Carrying on duty is decently stupid. At the minimum you need a really really solid retention holster. I've had psych patients try to grab my knife

why though?
Not like you're going to be on a shit while drunk or something. Is it assmad cops thinking you're going to take their jobs while you rekt your spine dealing with bariatric bitches?

If you're really worried, wear some concealable soft body armor. The average street thug wanting to shoot at medics is going to be carrying a pistol. Probably nothing more powerful than 357 or 45 acp

Ah, yeah, that could be an issue. Especially since you're cooped up in a box with patients...

If I did carry it'd be small of the back or a boot gun.

Op here, yeah I ankle carry the LCP at work (server/bartender) no one could ever notice. Even if it prints no one looks at ankles.
