I would also recommend studying wars where one's own nation lost despite obvious advantages in resources. These tend to be the ones that were lost by poor diplomacy and political maneuvering rather than simply being outmatched.

What I think it really comes down to is that /his/ has no reason to exist. It's genesis was an idea of a humanities board that isn't a bunch of lefty Hegelians or modernists like /lit/. That inevitably made it a battleground between /pol/ and /lit/, poisoning the well at its birth.
