It appears that our sticky has been improved since the last time I perused it, so you should probably check that out first. Kommando Blog has some good stuff in it, but it does not encompass even a small fraction of "common /k/nowledge."

Frankly, the easiest way to learn is to lurk and absorb the knowledge. However, you'll learn a lot on your own if you simply look up the AR-15, AK-47, SKS, etc. on Wikipedia. Throw yourself into the rabbit hole of firearms and you'll eventually figure it out.
