Ok I'm mad.

Seriously what the fuck is it with people trying to sell used guns for the SAME PRICE as a new one? How fucking retarded are these people?

I see this on my local gun forums for sale section too. A gun that is $900 new and they're trying to sell it for $850.

Kill yourself if you do this.
>>
>>34664308
Its not Gunbroker, its the sellers who use it who are setting prices and such. Gunbroker is just the platform for them.

That being said if you have some common sense you can find some good deals on there.
>>
>>34664308
>>34664437
You are entirely correct, gentlemen. Such is the market, unfortunately.

Locally, they expect you to haggle (or are retarded). I only look at GB for specific things now, and what kills me is their filters suck. There's no way to make it so all the shitposts don't show up in your search, so when you get some asshole posting his entire fucking inventory, you just have to scroll through it.

You just have to shovel through the bullshit to find good deals, OP.

I found a complete Uzi reciever, SA Bolt, parts kit and barrel for $300 on Gunbroker. Guy bought it and never got around to building it. No fucking clue why, lmao. The bolt & receiver go for $300 and $270 a piece.

Pic related.

Took me 4-5 months of looking at Uzi stuff to find it. Found it the hour he posted it and snatched it up.

Figure out what you want and start sifting.

Don't like really using PayPal but gift is acceptable. Otherwise they can do a chargeback. I usually prefer USPS Money Orders only but sometimes they'll send a MoneyGram, which works all the same.
>>
>>34665048

You can sometimes pick up a used LRS for like $2kish. They're really nice guns and worth the money if you have the money to waste.

No, he's a Blaser dealer. Only one I know of in the US, but there are probably a few others. Highly specialized guns. Like a Kraut's version of Holland & Holland.

Dude thats a helliva deal! Did you have to do any fitting or conversion on the trigger pack even?

I got a HK SP5K for $1975 right before new years on gunbroker cause no one bid on it.
>>
Real problem:

1) New guns are almost universally overpriced by half.
2) "Used" guns are often in pretty much mint condition because they never saw much use beyond their first range day, so the guy who spent $700 doesn't really want to sell it for $400.
3) Beat up guns from mid-tier manufacturers will near-universally fetch at least tree fiddy because gun.
4) Beat to shit guns from nearly any manufacturer, of any caliber, will usually fetch $200 or more because gun.

So, when someone pays $700 for a brand new gun, and it is functionally as perfect as the day he bought it, he might want $550. What YOU want to pay is $400 or less. But even if it were a lower quality gun with a lot more wear and tear, because it's a gun someone's going to pay $300 or more. The guy is basically asking you to give him credit for the fact that it's as good as new and is willing to knock off, say, $150 from the $700 he paid. Yet you find some internet sale somewhere that says you might be able to get one for $550 new anyway (I've seen internet ads for brand new Glock 19's for $450).

So the guy overpaid by a little, barely used the gun at all, and wants to sell it for a reasonable price - but at some deep discount you could get it new for the same $550. So you're sticking firm to the $400 or less, and the guy just doesn't want to do it. I understand both of you at this point.

The problem is, the gun probably should have been a lot less at MSRP in the first place, and should hold its value pretty well unless damaged or significantly worn.

Would be nice if people would stop paying ass-rape prices for new guns (maybe shop around first), and would stop grumbling about a fair price on a barely used gun. Just because a local pawn shop will only offer $150 on a well maintained Glock 19 doesn't mean that's all it's worth, any more than the fact that they're selling used Glock 19's for $699 means that's what you should pay.

>So, when someone pays $700 for a brand new gun, and it is functionally as perfect as the day he bought it, he might want $550

This isn't the problem. The problem is that these chumps are trying to sell a $700 gun for $675 (plus shipping).
>>
>>34666119
>1) New guns are almost universally overpriced by half.

Absurd. There is insane competition at nearly every price point on a huge variety of weapons. You can get $400 ARs right now ffs.

>2) "Used" guns are often in pretty much mint condition because they never saw much use beyond their first range day, so the guy who spent $700 doesn't really want to sell it for $400.

But with internet sales how can we be sure? It's simply not worth a 5-10% saving to risk getting shitty product.

>3) Beat up guns from mid-tier manufacturers will near-universally fetch at least tree fiddy because gun.
>4) Beat to shit guns from nearly any manufacturer, of any caliber, will usually fetch $200 or more because gun.

I tried to buy a broken old hobby lathe on Craigslist. It was in a basement, disassembled, pictured on a dirty wooden bench next to a weed-wacker. The guy said he didn't know shit about lathes, that his dad died and now he wanted to sell his old man's hobby lathe. I called him up, offered $400. Now mind you, its used, in terrible condition, probably missing a ton of parts and neededs new electronics, but hey, its a fair offer. The cocksucker hangs up on me, just slams his phone. I try to call back, he doesn't pick up. I look at the listing the next day and he has amended it. He wants the same price as a new hobby lather in perfect condition for this make and model, $1400, because he read online that is how much they are worth. He also wrote, "AND DON'T EVEN CALL ME AND OFFER ME $400, I'D RATHER SMASH IT WITH A SLEDGEHAMMER!" So I decided to buy a new lathe and I'm glad I did. Fucking stupid fucks, they sell used lawnmowers over 10 years old for the same price as a new one, just stupid shit like that. Fuck them, I don't waste my time. I'll go to a flea market but these home sellers don't know shit about the value of their used crap.

>>
>>34666274
That's a common thing in every niche hobby, though. Try looking at the musical instruments section on any craigslist, and you'll see tons of used guitars being sold more new prices.

A lot of it is casuals who don't want to lose money they think they've wasted, or who genuinely have no clue how much used things should sell for. Some of it is just caused by people thinking that whatever they have is special because it's theirs. Most of the time, it's just the simple disconnect between sellers who want to make as much as they can and buyers who want to spend as little as possible.

Stopped buying off Gunbroker ages ago. I just use it as a litmus test every once in a while to see what some guns are being bid for when selling my own shit on a classified. I use Bud's the same way too, since their prices are on the lower end for new weapons.

Your level of saltiness is the same as those guys who get frustrated when someone actually wants a reasonable amount of money for something their selling, and won't give you an overwhelming deal 100% of the time. I traded a brand-new Benelli M4 a couple weeks ago, and some guy was butthurt that I wouldn't accept his $1,400-worth-of-guns-when-new trade (HK45 and Glock 19) for my $1,800-worth-of-gun-when-new trade.

Some people need to sell because they have a brick and mortar location, which means bills. Some people need to sell their guns because they don't have a brick and mortar location, and they still have bills to pay.

I comb through the ads regularly, but I really ramp up my activity near the end of the month and in the weeks leading up to a big holiday like Christmas, Thanksgiving and the 4th of July, because desperate men will be trying to provide for their families and they'll make some really dumb (or reasonable, depending on how you look at it) decisions. I got an Aimpoint Comp M4 and 3x Mag for $700 last Christmas season. The dad limped out of his car (felt kind of bad) and sold me his shit with a pained expression on his face. He texted me back about 10 minutes after the deal, asking if I would give him back his stuff for the money (I guess he got a better offer), but I told him nope.

I love pawn shops, my favorite is when they get something that they have no idea how much it's actually worth.

They had an Ithica 38 for $525 (negotiable) and I was going to let it sit on the shelf for a few weeks before offering $400 but someone came by and snatched it up. Another time they had a STG reproduction in 9mm for $325 but I was being retarded and didn't pounce on it before it walked out the door.

Pic related, I paid $315 out the door for this a while back and it eats brass like any other 1911, the only problem was that the sights needed to be shifted almost as far left as they would go but now it's a great shooter.

The competition is insane right now and ARs are just a fraction of it. You can get a fucking H&K VP9 for under $600 brand new. You can get new Howa barreled actions for under $500. Cabela's is selling Savage Model 12's for $370 and those are legitimate 1/2 MOA guns out of the box.

There are dumbfucks on both sides of this, but with something like GB you can set a reserve and not have to deal with lowballers or stupid trade offers.

You sound like kind of a twat, though.

Why is it even allowed to have both a starting bid set AND a reserve on the item?

Pawnman? Because that fucking company does that shit all the time. They've had listings up for years.

Sometimes it's free advertising for the business, other times they have the shit in their stores and don't care if it sells online, etc.

In my experience, reserve auctions get a fraction of the attention no reserve auctions do, so I just start at a number I'm willing to take for the gun.

I dunno, man. I found a .45 conversion of an Enfield for cheaper than a shooter grade Enfield by itself, which is better than what I expected to find for my project gun.

$130, including ~20 bullets and ~30 empty cases, 10 of them re-primed
It's pre 1898 so no FFL is needed to ship/receive it

I deal with this shit too much. Keep buying badly listed items for a penny or a dollar, they freak out on me, and since I can't pay for a lawyer and the FTC doesn't actually enforce their laws, these shitnuggets get away with it.

Just this year I bought and didn't get 2 Galil ACEs, a Kimber Sapphire, an M&P9c, a CZ Shadow 2, and just yesterday an LCP Custom. THIS YEAR ALONE.

Fuck (((GB))) and fuck the FTC for doing nothing.

I got one for $400 flat, $35 shipping; that was last month.
Great condition.
My buddy picked one up for $500 shipped a couple weeks ago.

Gunbroker can be really great for deals on AKs.
