It also lets you do insane speed running because of the jumping capabilities of the gun. You can double jump then fire the gauss and it'll push you. Speed runners use it to get to ledges and go over terrain.

I wouldn't say obsolete, though. It does help so much its one of the most useful weapons late game, but you still need other weapons to take out faster enemies like the imps. You don't really want to waste ammo on them, and you can quickly die to them if you're trying to shoot just one with the gauss while the others flame you to death.

This is how you get BLAMed by your commissar for damaging mission critical hardware. Overheating in a fire will charge it fairly fast but at the cost of an eroded maximum capacitance. Do it too many times and you batteries are wrecked beyond combat use. Enjoy having a single shot manual action laser.

So either use the supplied charging racks or leave it in the sun. Any other non approved methods can result in a bolter to the back of the head. Or front. Or side, it doesn't really matter.

It's essentially rigged to slamfire. The text explains it if you'd just read. The trigger fires the bottom gun, gas cycles the top gun, which is where the "slamfire" part comes in. Gases from the top gun cycle the bottom gun, thus preparing the next cycle.

Their whole autism wankery is pointless anyway. The gun is demonstrably bullshit ingame. You never visibly reload it, you just pump the lever and it magically reloads. Your last requirement is impossible without some sort of shit like a nanoscale factory that fabricates ammo using converted matter and uses the molecules in the air around it to replicate the ammo. But if you can do that why not just have a beam weapon?

The only reasonable (TM) way I can think it would work in the game or in real life is with portals. Portals that deliver more ammo from another location, perhaps even a pocket dimension created just for that purpose.
