The two things closest to the camera are Soviet SPG-82 rocket launchers. The two launchers over on the left are Czech T-21 Tarasnice recoilless rifles. They're both early/mid cold war vintage.

Not sure what the other stuff is besides the DSHK.

They are preparing to storm Al Sukhnah and this would be a major SAA victory toward Deir Ezzor. They brought in reinforcements to crash IS lines in the last few days. Tiger forces still inching down the Euphrates near Raqqa.
I'm interested in the next few days of fighting on all major fronts.

>>
>>34661784
Because they're indirect and unable to control after being dropped. Similar reasons to victim detonated mines and traps being against Geneva convention
>>
>>34661784
Because it has no precision targetting and is prone to collateral damage. It's as reliable for blowing up enemy combatants in urban spaces as blindfiring.

>as reliable as blindfiring
So they're perfect for this conflict?

Jokes aside, they're just less precise dumb bombs with smaller kill radius. Also a barrel kicked out of the back of an Mi8 is probably still more precise than an ancient Su22 dropping conventional bombs.
>>
>>34661791
>>34661797
>>34661817
Ok so basically airborne idf. I dont imagine old soviet suplus arty or mortars are any more precise.
>>
>>34661784

It's propaganda, son.

Military studies are proven that barrel bombs are incredibly shit at killing anything (after all, they are DIY bombs thrown from a chopper) but the point was to underline TEH BRUTALITY of TEH REGIME. It's not a matter of effectiveness, it's a matter of painting someone as a monster for the sake of your internal media system.

Wait, didn't they stop the barrel bombs wailing one-two years ago, though (replaced by "child-killing Russian bombs" or something)?
>>
>>34661835
Artillery and mortars should be more precise. But they're just used to spam in the general direction of to enemy, at least in this conflict, anyways. So it doesn't really make a difference.
>>
>>34661864
In the hands of competent crews and well maintained equipment, they are absolutely precise. But then again, this is the middle east.
>>
>>34661836
It's to do with how indiscriminate they are.

You can't aim them at all, and dropping them on civilian cities is no different to blindly shelling civilian areas.

imagine the life of a syrian war pilot

like you fly an old jet or helicopter which barely flies, you likely have a shit salary, you risk to be shot down and brutally executed with nobody to save your ass no angels on helicopters for you, you can't even try to have some pride in the past because your air force was always beaten by jews, they don't give you real bombs because those are scarce and make you drop literally barells filled wih the irish stew principle by anything the bomb makers managed to lay their hands on. oh, and on top of it you are also considered a war criminal
>>
>>34661975
>is no different from blindly shelling civilian areas
That's pretty much where most casualties in Syria and Iraq came from in the past half decade though
>>
>>34662042
That's sounds a lot better than being pretty much anything else in the Syrian armed forces
>>
>>34662042
>you likely have a shit salary
Probably decent wages, especially compared to literally anyone else in the military other than top brass.

Unlike sitting in a tank or operating some other vehicle they are perfectly safe, there are no anti-air threats to worry about.

>oh, and on top of it you are also considered a war criminal
As if anyone actually cares. If every pilot is going to be branded a war criminal the US airforce would be filled to the brim with them, and nobody would care.
>>
>>34662072
syrians lost a few aircraft though

also they are the ones dropping barrels with chlorine etc stuff so they have some attention on them
>>
>>34662083
a few, due to technical problems or insanely lucky hits with whatever shit the rebels could scramble together. A lot better than being one of the poor sobs being ordered to drive their T55 into a city without any infantry cover whatsoever.
>>

>they are the ones dropping barrels with chlorine etc
>>
>>34662042
They are the ones that will win the war in the end.
>>
>>34662083
>also they are the ones dropping barrels with chlorine etc stuff so they have some attention on them
False, but I suppose that doesn't matter if the media repeats it till it becomes taken for granted in public discourse.

They've lost several dozen aircraft if you count in helicopters. About 200 at the most compared to approximately 2000 tanks according to some quick googling, flying a plane is much safer than being sent into the meatgrinder on the ground.

>Can someone explain to me why people get so ass blasted about barrel bombs?

There is nothing to get mad about. It's a purely contrived narrative by (((Western))) propaganda, aimed to prime the bovine public for regime change agenda.

It's an improvised bomb.

If the treacherous whores and Zionists of the West were concerned about humanitarian factors, they would not have pumped billions of dollars worth of TOW-2A missiles and metric shit tons of other weapons from the Balkans, serving only to prolong the war and delay Assad's inevitable victory.

They spun a big web of bullshit lad.

ME politicians are whores and men with barely any honor ,but at one point ,especially when theres alternative , they wont tolerate destabilization policies anymore , they learnt repercusions of destabilization policies often spill over to other ME countries ,crisis in other country can eaisly spill over to their own country

even cheap whores of Iraq wont participate in US efforts against Iran anymore after ISIS experience , because they aware destabilization of Iran would mean crisis for other ME countries that would be much worse then the current one

US position is Iraq is pretty bad atm , US grand plan of taking over Iran through destabilization wont see any approval in Iraq , so either they will have to hold down with their plans or if they continue with current plans it will negatively effect their relations with Iraq and improve Irans position in Iraq

Alright guys, shows over. HTS is taking the green bus with FSA and famalam to Idlibistan. Hezbollah proved their point meanwhile IS still nearby. You can't call it a total victory until they are ousted.

I'm more interested in the ongoing fighting in parts of Al Suknah as the SAA finally made their move to the city. IS holding most of the city at this time however. It's a big deal. The SAA could have a open route to Deir Ezzor if it falls quickly.

If Syrian Geneal/anyone else has the drop when they capture the city I hope they post. I won't check on it until later.
>>
Lastly map of Raqqa as fighting continues at a slow pace.

I never thought HTS/Al Qaeda stood a chance there. Even the most basic look at a map and they were sandwiched with no viable defense points unless they had a epic last stand in the refugee camp which wasn't going to happen. Let's be real, it was shooting fish in barrel.

Whoever was the pro rebel anon that said it would be like Zabadani was utterly wrong. At no point was it anything like that battle.

compared to US ? none of these countries can be compared to US in terms of how often they do this

Also huge difference between US/Uk/France and rest is that ,yes most if not all of these countries were involved in destabilization projects ,however US/UK/France developed long term destabilization policy ,while other countries occasionally see benefit in destabilization of certain country so they support.it and participate in it.

Theres not a single secret service profine and experienced in destabilization policies , coups ,overthrowing of governments such as CIA .

Also economical sanctions ,US trademark ( didnt invent it ofc ),and its main purpose is to destabilize country. Syria /North Korea /Iran/Venezueal /Russia etc..

Destabilization policies which are tool to to achieve regime change are US trademark .
>>

I am not going to forget Operation Condor any time soon.

All that said, I am not so sure USA's foreign policy is what it used to be. Under Obama USA got pretty good at drone attacks and communications surveillance and other forms of remote control methods. But neither Obama or Bush (don't get me started on Trump) seemed to have that old US touch of putting intelligence guys in the field. Would Iraq even have happened if the CIA and NSA had had people on the ground who could tell WMDs from field kitchen?

In other words, maybe it isn't so much destabilization as ineptitude and errors of focus. They actually don't know what the hell they are doing because the e-thingies can't pick up the things an operator in a whorehouse can. Beside gonhorrea that is...
>>
>>34684330
>All that said, I am not so sure USA's foreign policy is what it used to be.

follow Venezueal crisis ,u will get answer on this question

"In other words, maybe it isn't so much destabilization as ineptitude and errors of focus."

Economic sanctions main purpose is to destabilize country through weakening their economy. Its not result of error.

Rise of ISIS in Iraq , might not be a result of error .

But US destabiliazation policies aimed towards other countries ,theres 0 % they are result of error .They are intentional.Only error we can talk about is error in execution of plan in terms of plan not being successful in the end like (like Syria). They were successful in destabiliazation of Syria ,but werent succeful in regime change .

i wasnt looking into syria for a few days can somebody explain how did the SAA+allies reach

>>
>>34684641

Venezuela? Sure, the US can't wait for the old commies to curl up and die. But Veneuela's woes are mostly caused by themselves. Nationalization is no way to build the future and the low oil price is what ruined them. Whatever follows the current government is not going to be nice.

Ah, the ISIS rise thing. There are a number of convenient ways to put this on USA. Personally I think the way they handled the post-war period is epically stupid - ignoring the sunnis will historically rank right up there with Hitler declaring war on USA after pearl harbor - but that in itself speaks against the US knowingly starting a rebellion. That they may have supported various minor militias and war lords whose allegiances did not exclude ISIS is something else.

So I will agree that USA does things that are destablizing. Also that some times it is intentional. The biggest counterargument I can think of is that if the US really were out to cause regime change, how can they possibly be this useless at it? It's not like they have a lack of intelligent people. Or does it come down to a few war hawks pushing for token tweaks and this is the results?
>>
Looking at Al Sukhnah today. Pro SAA source claims they have taken Mt. Qulylat south of the city.
I believe the SAA is trying to surround the city first like they did Masknah. The SAA and Russians are behaving in a set pattern daring IS to stop them.

SOHR claims most of IS have already left the city toward the mountains and SAA is delaying their assault in hopes of sparing total destruction of the place if the groups remaining don't leave.

tl;dr SOHR today claims the SAA is giving IS a chance to run before blasting the city to bits if they don't. The stand off continues.
>>
>>34684763
Lastly to tie together the SAA near Raqqa to the SAA near Al Sukhnah IS mounted a counter attack on the tiger forces in the north but it's unclear the extent of the attack at this time.

Not sure if it's the right thread but,
Does anyone know more about the missile attack against Mecca apparenty carried out by yemeni rebels?
Other than "Yemeni rebels launched a missile against Mecca".

Yemen houthis have been firing a number of missiles across the Saudi border since the conflict started, not hitting anything particularly interesting yet - as far as I know. A nice fat hit on central Mecca would make headlines, and so far I haven't see one.

Nor do I see it in the houthis interest to make the Saudis really mad.

they hit plenty of (more or less) important things, like military bases, oil fields (lately) and so on...
It's not that they would win the war with this but it's a good answer to the bombings of jemen that the KSA&allies so

(havn't heard of houthis attacking mecca btw)

Apparently, a missile was launched towards Mecca but was obviously intercepted before. Don't know much more than that.
But since the Hajj is like in a few weeks or so, even an attempt is something to be wary of.

What else could the Saudis even do? Even with western support the war has become a stalemate.

I'm sure if they really try they can find a few more interesting and humurous ways to show that western shit in the hands of monkeys is just as ineffective as slavshit in the hands of monkeys.

they just bomb them because they havent been doing so hot on the ground in firefights
>>
>>34686134

Well. In my opinion the Saudis have been using the whole Yemen things as a handy place to test their weapons and tactics. Their boots on the ground have been mostly proxies and small units and the arty shelling and air attacks have not exactly been full scale. The Saudis are primarily throwing money on the problem and little else. If they really wanted the houthis wiped out at all cost we'd be looking at a full scale invasion with massive artillery shelling - it's not as if the Saudis are lacking in hardware.
>>
>>34686809
I seriously doubt the Saudi's would be able to adequately mobilize a significant invasion force without major, major outside (American) assistance.

Their foray into Yemen has rapidly turned into a quagmire, and their units, everything from the airforce to their mechanized infantry have been appalling to say the least.

I just don't believe they have the administrative experience or capability even to mobilize an "army" sized element to go into Yemen.
>>
>>34686909

All of this is true. The last the Saudi royals want is a war where their own people get mowed down, with resulting internal rebelliousness. But they have learned the US method same as everyone else; that you can hit'em with any amount of air and arty without pissing off anyone at your own home. And the houthis can play whackamole all day with the Saudis but it's hard to build a new governent at the same time.

My best guess is that things will simmer down after some back room talking and that booms stops crossing the border, followed by a ceasefire. Both sides are not achieving anything at this point.
