I just upgraded from a highly rated amazon $40 scope to this. My first words looking through it were holy shit. The cheap scope had like a half inch spot where you could see through it. The vortex has like 2 inches of sweet spot and the picture somehow fills up the whole glass.
Just thought I'd share.
Da, is good scope comrade.

you'll never buy a shit tier scope again.
>>34648694
My first scope ever was a Swarovski Z6. It was a mistake because I can't tolerate cheap optics anymore. The cheapest I can accept now are the high-end Leupolds or Vortex Razor series. Congrats on your purchase. You really get what you pay for with glass.
>>34648694
Fucking good son.
Anything. Anything below $150 is pretty much complete garbage.

>My first scope ever was a Swarovski Z6. It was a mistake because I can't tolerate cheap optics anymore.
This is one thing I'm scared of if I ever buy a 1x6. Same with Geiselle triggers.
OP, enjoy your purchase and just know that good glass is meaningless if your mount is garbage.
>>34651022
>geissele triggers
>good
In a market landscape where Timney and CMC exists I'd rank Geissele mediocre at best.
>>34648694
I have the non illuminated version. Enjoy it man! Pic related.
I've had a $110 Nikon Buckmaster 4-12x40 fudd scope on my AR for years before I had the opportunity to try an ACOG for the first time and though the glass was wonderful and clear I couldn't help but think "damn if I had my Buttmaster on this gun I would have nailed that shot".
I dunno. Clear and durable glass with nice ED coatings and all the goodies is nice but when it comes to placing the shot it's all about magnification.
My cheapest scope is a $100 Nikon Buckmasters II whits sits on my CVA Wolf because you're really not going to get much more than 100 yards out of a muzzleloader with any real accuracy anyway. It's good quality and works fine.
>>34648694
What reticle did you get?
>>34648694
You truly get what you pay for when it comes to glass. An expensive scope is so much nicer than a cheap scope but its hard to really put it into words why.
Vortex and Nikon are great budget brands, i wouldnt go any lower than their budget line
>>34648694
I just got a crossfire 2 as my first ever piece of glass. It's pretty gud. I need taller rings tho, can't clear the rear sight.
Never, ever trust Amazon ratings. They're all Chinese bots and "I was compensated for my unbiased opinion"
>>34651083
Is it just me or is the scope on backwards? Shouldn't the objective lense be at the front?
>>34648694
Vortex 1x4? I want one for my vz58
>>34652775
It's just you ;)
I've got the Nikon p223 3x32, got it for $150. The reticle goes out to 700m and takes a lot of guess work out when adjusting holds but I've never taken it past 150yd, don't really need to in the Tennessee woods though. It's sitting on a shitty tapco riser mount, but I haven't noticed any zero shift from it. Any one have experience with the tapco mounts? I've never seen a post about it before
>>34648694
>highly rated
>$40 scope
oxymoron
That Accupower 1-8 x28 tho
>>34651050
Triggers are what people like
>>34651115
Lel no
>can self spot at 100 yards with my TA31F and D-Evo 4x and 6x respectively
>can't with 3-9x Nikon Prostaff Rimfire
>>34651115
There are a lot of good reasons to buy nice optics besides magnifying a steel plate in midday light.
>is it rugged/weatherproof
>does it stay zeroed with recoil and abuse
>does it have decent eye relief
>is the field of view wide enough
>can you still see through it when it gets dark
>is it clear enough to pick out camoflauged movement
For a range toy I probably wouldn't spend more than a couple hundred dollars, but I drop bank on my hunting scopes/binos for all those reasons listed above... otherwise I would have a very frustrating time out in the mountains. I would spend the same amount on an optic for an actual battle/shtf rifle too, since the requirements are very similar.
>>34653195
You're forgetting probably the most important element: repeatability and consistency.
>>34648694
you dun good OP, the Strike Eagle is a great scope for the money, don't listen to the elitists
>>34653994
I got the Crossfire II which is 1-4x. The Strike Eagle is 1-6x for $100 more. A little nicer but I'm putting it on my .22, so it's not like I'm going to be shooting past 100 yards.
>>34652865
It can be best in price range and reliable, but still be mediocre because the price range doesn't allow for quality. Hi-points fall into this category. 5 stars for the specific bracket. Serviceable, but loses out to nearly any pistol that costs twice as much.
>>34652775
Every 1-4 and 1-6 scope I've seen just looks like that.
>>34652794
Yep, Vortex Crossfire II 1-4x non-illuminated. It seems they may be discontinued now so if you want one, take that into consideration. You should be able to find one for $100 - $200. I'm not sure if Vortex plans a replacement in that price bracket, or even in 1-4x at all.
Right now the low-power zoom quality progression seems:
Crossfire II $200ish (soon discontinued?)
Strike Eagle $300ish 1x6
Viper $400ish 1x6
>>34648694
I like the strike eagles and use vortex diamondbacks for hunting
Whats a good scope for a VEPR?
>>34656299
PSO/POSP
>>34651155
I got the v-plex non-illuminated reticle.
>>34656265
Whoops I see vortex makes a 1-4 viper that's still in production, they just discontinued a specific reticle for it.
Just got mine yesterday, I'm blown away. It's my first optic too so I'm probably spoiled now.
>itt: people getting blown away by decent optics
wait until you get an s&b
>>34656968
Damn nice. I'm jelly.
>>34657076
>MOA
>>34648694
>just blew all my tendies money on a Kahles K16i
I'm literally leaking precum sitting here waiting for it.
>>34652966
because the nikon has a gook slit for view angle
>>34657140
Shit dude, nice.
What's a good qd mount for one of these? How do you zero a 1-6 anyway?
>>34651022
>>34651050
As the owner of a Geissele SSA, I implore you to get something else.
They're great triggers, but I honestly would've been fine with a Timney
>>34648694
no shit, if you knew anything about optics you'd know you get what you pay for. your vortex is still shit compared to actual mid-tier glass in the $1-2k range.
>>34657849
ur mom is shit compared to a mid tier crack whore in the $1-$2 range.
