I am looking to put a smooth top cover on my SLR-104FR but I have seen two kinds of covers labled for the 74M and 100 series. One has a crease on the bottom of the cover on both sides and a rounded edge near the bolt opening and the other looks to just be a simple stamping.

I would like to use the most modern and up to date one if possible. I found these for sale but Im not sure if they are what I want.

Are you living north of Austin? There is a range near San Antonio that is all steel targets that a few friends went to last weekend.

I've got about 3,250 rounds of 5.45 but may add another 1K Golden Tiger if it looks like ammo is gonna get hit. I barely have enough 7.62 to fill my mags at the moment, but I'm less worried about that since at least other countries make the ammo. I'll still throw down on a 1K GT case and 200 rounds 8M3 if shit goes south though.

It's pretty nice. Locks up nicely and is very easy to deploy which I like. It is a right side folder and I can still manipulate the controls, even if it is a bit awkward. It will allow the weapon to fire with the stock folded. It is a warsaw length stock and it feels fine on me (I'm 6'0). A nicer option than the Zhukov if you ask me.

That's how I feel. I don't shoot my AKs much, admittedly. I have a ton of rifles, but half of them are unfired and just serve as collector's pieces. My 5.45 AK is first and foremost a collector's piece, and my Maadi is a cheap fun gun I saved on a whim. 3500 rounds are going to last me for a while, but not forever, and that's the one I worry most about. With the Maadi, I can at least stomach paying a bit more for non-Russian ammo when the itch to shoot it hits. Nonetheless, I have a hard time stockpiling either because it prevents me from being able to actually shoot handguns, which is what I shoot most.

Honestly, every time sanctions come up as a subject I start feeling really anxious, not only because of the obvious threat to the hobby but also because it reminds me of how much I feel financially trapped by guns lately. The girl I'm dating asks me why I never go on vacation, and the simple answer is that I feel like I have to buy whatever I can, whenever I can because there's no telling when it'll go away completely. I hate the phrase "buy it cheap, stack it deep" for the same reason; it feels almost cultish, like you aren't allowed to spend any money you have on anything but guns or you'll be out in the cold when something gets banned or goes up in price exponentially (and you'll never get any sympathy if you don't, because it's obviously your fault if you were just out of college when Sandy Hook happened and had no money to buy 10K rounds of each major caliber before that).

I almost feel like I'm not living my life anymore because I'm too busy trying to make sure my AK stuff is future-proofed, and trying to buy the guns I want before another Democrat gets into office. It's so fucking stressful and I hate it. I really wish I could've just been another one of those range rats who don't care for anything but ARs, Sigs, and Glocks.

I feel like the sooner I accept that I'm only going to be shooting my AKs once in a blue moon (like literally all my other rifles; the only one that's come out more than once in the last year is my Scorpion Evo) and that my interest in the platform is more about its history rather than being something I want to go blow 500 rounds through in a single range trip done once a month or take to rifle classes, the better.

Just get steel surplus mags. Cheaper and sturdier. Even the Gen 3 pmags with the steel reinforcements rely on the polymer to help hold them in the magwell. Not sure which vid it is but in one of MACs vids(yeah I know he's a shill etc etc) he tries to break the mag by inserting it into the magwell, then smack it against a table. The polymer around the front locking lug broke, and he could get the mag to fall out by barely hitting it. Not worth the money. Buy steel surplus.

I have a completed AR along with two more stripped lowers, one of which I'm starting to envision a recce build for, and I also have a 9mm SBR in the works. From the way I'm reading this bill, we'll know within 60 days if sanctions are pending against Russian ammo manufacturers, but what we *won't* know is which sanctions will be applied to them if so.
