Also interested in this statistic.

If it is true that means there are almost 800,000 NFA items per year. I wonder what percentage are suppressors and what percentage are SBRs. I imagine the vast majority is made up of those two things.

over 2.5 million NFA weapons were processed in 2016 ALONE. Its one the site, on a graph.

Wait to see how midterm elections go. Many Republicans are afraid of the poll numbers that they see for Trump and don't want to risk what is a low reward bill. Most supporters of the SHUSH or HPA would not vote Democrat, as part of that parties platform is gun control but there are people who are generally neutral on guns who would vote Democrat because of the perceived nature of suppressors.

I think we would have much better chances of another Supreme Court seat becoming vacant before any suppressor related law actually coming up for a vote. The average age for justices to retire is around 80 two justices are older than that, Ginsburg (84 but she has claimed she will not retire from the court) and Kennedy (81 and current scuttlebutt is that he is looking to retire soon). Justice Breyer is 78 and may retire soon as well (although he may wait for the presidential election).

>>
>>34647134

I think of the constitution in terms of a contract. The government is contractually obligated to adhere to its provisions and in exchange the organization is allowed to exist. Unfortunately, the government has transgressed its obligations and, equally unfortunate, The citizens of the U.S have been too lazy and complacent to ensure that the government adheres to the contract.

its the largest employer in that region of west virginia.

$50k is about entry level for a fed job, most of feds are going to be making $70 to $80k, not including management.

A lot of the workers are going to be contracted. Their total compensation will average between $45 and $55. That includes janitors. However the feds are also paying the contracting company a premium, mostly to avoid pension payments in the future.

So please, just shut the fuck up.

the problem with that line of argument is that the constitution isn't supposed to be a stand alone defense. the people defend the constitution and the constitution defends the people. it's a symbiotic relationship that depends on the people to be active, informed, and willing to resort to violence when needed, it more or less states as much in the document itself.

>Many Republicans are afraid of the poll numbers that they see for Trump

Why would they?

Job approval polls (political polls in general, really) are meaningless in the current hyper-partisan environment.

Sure, Trump has majority disapproval due to Dems/Liberals being the majority and thus skewing the numbers.

But once you break the polls down into Dems/Libs and Repubs/Cons then you'll see that Trump has majority approval among the latter.

Republican/Conservative approval is the only thing that matters to Trump and the GOP. They weren't elected by Dems/Libs, and have no reason to cater to them.

>>34646729
>Many Republicans are afraid of the poll numbers that they see for Trump
that's funny because most polls proved to be blatantly falsified during the campaign and all polls since the election suggest trump voters knew damn well what they were getting and don't regret voting for him. could give less of a fuck about republicans in general but the only thing the democrats have going for them so far is some manufactured butthurt about healthcare reform and the fact that they've toned down the sjw moral busyboding.
the leftist media is spewing 24/7 anti trump agitprop and playing into the russians' hands by doing so ironically. anyone who is surprised that polls are low for any number of reasons is probably a nigger or retard.

>>34646157
I think the way NFA laws are implemented are dumb - trying to enforce laws about who can have a metal tube is shitty.

But I still have this nagging fear that if suppressors got easier to purchase and someone commits a high profile crime with one that'll be enough to get the gun control ball rolling. They can indict the pro gun side for everything using that and then start on the AWB or more CCW limits.

So part of me would rather pony up the $200.

Obviously Czech is also great but my chances of learning the language are slim to none. I've just looked up NI gun law and while it's no US, its right fucking up there in the anglosphere.

Tell me about NI m8, how is the hunting? Is there a decent shooting culture with practical pistol shooting etc? I notice on wikipedia:
> Also, carrying a firearm in plain view in a public place is allowed without a permit. Open carry of handguns is not common.

does this mean people technically COULD open carry pistols if they so desired?

One thing to consider is prices will skyrocket higher than they already are if that law was repealed due to a large spike in demand. I would expect it to be extremely difficult to get your hands on one, anyway, for a very long time and criminals who want to suppress their weapons will find means already available to them today.
>>
>>34654517
>One thing to consider is prices will skyrocket higher than they already are if that law was repealed due to a large spike in demand
complete bullshit. if they weren't a niche item that required a 4-10 month waiting period to acquire i would apply for the appropriate licensing and spend 10 hours a day shitting out budget cans making money hand over fist.
there would be a spike that temporally decreased availability but pretty much anyone except those who can bank exclusively on their name like surefire would have to drop their price point to be anything but gucci nonsense.
>>
>>34652073
now I´m really interested in your response ? Are you man enough to accept that you fucked up ?
>>
>>34654552
You seriously don't think demand would skyrocket? The availability of retail inventory would be wiped out and prices would increase on the second-hand market would be insane. It would take months for new companies to begin manufacturing and bringing product to market. You know all businesses would still require to get an FFL since they would "be in the business of firearms."

We've seen this happen with newly released Kel-Tec products and those only require a background check. We've also seen this with ammunition when a scare happens. Thinking magically hundreds of thousands of units of product would be available on the market to satisfy demand is naive.
>>
>>34646157
I've heard it said directly from some congressional types: "Congress will NEVER give up a $200 tax".

The best you'll see is the ATF speeding up form times. The biggest hangup people have in buying suppressors isn't the tax, it's the fucking 11 month wait.

Nope. The public misconceptions regarding silencers are simply too strong. That vote would be used against the bill's supporters in every campaign ad, ever. They just won't take the risk. They'll find some way to argue they have some other reason for not supporting it, but the end result will be the same. I highly doubt it will ever see a floor vote.
>>
>>34646253
That's kind of missing the point of what actually went wrong. No document can actually prevent a government from becoming bloated on its own. It requires people to participate and enforce it.

A lot of the shit the government does right now is unconstitutional. Of course it's powerless to stop it, because it's just a piece of paper. It only has power when people choose to enforce it, and they've stopped. That's not the document's fault, and I don't think any other document could or would do it any better than this one has.

Only a population that actually gives a shit about limiting government can keep government limited, and that doesn't exist, now or--unfortunately--probably ever in our future.
