Whats your favorite .22 that isn't a a 10/22 or a Marlin 60?
Mine is the Marlin XT-22 with the detachable magazine. My only complaint is the mag capacity should have been 5 or 10, not 7.
Can't go wrong with a good solid bolt action .22
>>34638314
I used to have a Savage bolt action .22 with a synthetic stock that I LOVED, but I was dumb and sold it when I was like 16 and haven't gotten around to replacing it. Looking at getting a CZ 455 Trainer instead.
>>34638314
Are .22 pistols a meme or would you ever get one?
>>34638342
Get the cz senpai
That's a beautiful rifle
>>34638399
I have a colt .22 target model pistol (pic related) and ive never had any issues with it it's from my grandpa and I have no idea how old it is or how many rounds have been through it but it shoots good.
I know the Ruger sr-22 (I think) is finniky on ammo.the Ruger 22/45 is like the 10/22 of pistols.
>>34638314
you can buy factory 10s for it the 785 mags fit.
7 is actually the perfect amount for that gun
cant be a flush 5 cause of the way the mag attaches
with 7 its short enough that it doesnt get in the way or snag but you still have enough magazine to pull on to remove it.
So i got this remington 572 .22lr and when I shoot it my teeth like chatter/ vibrate and it feels really weird. Is there something up with the gun and how the recoil is acting that makes my teeth feel like this or what? I shoot all my other long arms fine but everytime I shoot this one my teeth do this.
Henry AR-7 survival by far. I want to love my Savage 64 but that god damn mag release is a pain (working on modifying).
>>34638663
horrible stockfit where instead of a cheekweld its on your jaw or something
>>34638314
Ruger 96/22. levergat will shoot circles around the 10/22. never put it up against a bolt though.
Interesting niche rifle. Gets a bit funky after the barrel heats up though, but a solid tree rat exterminator.
>>34638314
I've always wanted a ruger american rimfire or something similar in .22 wmr or .17 hmr. I don't understand why /k/ mocks rifles such as these.
>>34638314
I love my Remington 504. I want to get into target shooting a lot more so I'm putting together a 10/22 just so I don't wear out the 504's bore with range time every weekend.
>>34638805
Mostly angry they pay 5x for their bigger rifles that do the same job in the nd.
>>34638856
That was my thinking. For punching paper out to 300 yards those two calibers in bolt action are fine. Only reason I'd want a larger centerfire is if I wanted to go after large game or hoomanz. But there's no deer where I live and if jamal came for my ass I'd probably just use my handgun.
>>34638314
I have a Savage 64G. I have a globe sight and aperture rear sight coming, along with some swivel studs and a Harris bipod. Pretty excited to get it all together.
>>34638898
There's something to be said for the affectionate love taps a full-power cartridge delivers to the shoulder, but if all you want to do is work on marksmanship rimfire is fine.
>>34638771
>tree rat
Squirrels are adorable though
>>34639069
Go back to planning for defcon, Jericho.
>>34638314
FWB 2700 Supermatch
>>34638314
Marlin 795. I sold mine to buy a 22 AR conversion kit, which turned out to be waaaay pickier with ammo. The marlin was so reliable it was boring, plus virtually no aftermarket stuff, expensive magazines limited to 10 rounds.
>>34638399
.22 pistoleros are great for a tackle box gun - something like a Heritage Rough Rider (especially with the .22wmr conversion cylinder).
The Ruger lineup super duper accurate fun shootin', just a PITA for cleaning/maintenance.
Then there's the conversion slides for full size frames - some are insanely expensive [cough cough] Glock (~$250), or part of a package deal such as with EAA Witness Steel.
So, me being a poorfag, I have the Heritage .22/22wmr and the Witness 9mm/.22 which has saved me mucho pesos.
The Witness holds it's own against a non custom MkIII which ain't so bad
What is considered the largest smallbore round? .22 WMR?
>>34639063
Agreed
>>34638666
sweet jesus no. it's made of legos, the sights were rejected by Taurus. Cool concept, terrible execution. Would take a breakdown Ruger any time.
still, better than taping broken glass to your fists... maybe

>>34639256
I'm sorry.
What do you like about shooting .22? I like that it's easy to develop marksmanship fundamentals without needing a spotting scope to observe my progress.
>>34639143
Your question doesn't even make sense.
But this is a rimfire thread. the most common rimfire calibers are .22short, .22long, .22lr, .22wmr .17hmr, .17hm2, .17wsm
The .17 win super mag is the most powerful, followed by the .22 win mag, then then the .17 hornady mag
>>34639097
That's real nice
>>34639382
>.17 win super mag
Damn senpai that's as powerful as a 9mm
>>34638314
>Whats your favorite .22 that isn't a a 10/22 or a Marlin 60?
Originally that would be easy, my buddy's Marlin model 50. The open bolt nature of it is a little odd at first with the long lock time, but recoil is literally non-existent. I can balance it on a finger and it will stay still while firing. It is pictured near the middle of this pic.
Now what throws a wrench in that is he recently got a Browning SA-22 from some time in the 40s or 50s. That thing is also an absolute dream to shoot, while also being drop dead gorgeous.
>>34638666
The mag release is a bitch; I saw a picture of a guy who drove a pin into it so he could open it like a lever. Have you ever had problems with the bolt? Mine gets hung up about half way to the breech; this is the second time it's happened.
>>34639379
I like that it's cheap.
Thoughts on the CZ 512 or Marlin 795? I know they aren't really comparable price wise but how much more of a gun is the CZ really? Mostly going to be doing freehand varmint shooting, and some bench style target shooting as well.
THIS IS MY SHIT
702 plinkster. Super simple internal design. Easy to operate bolt. More accurate than my 10/22. Light as hell. Never had jamming issues as cleaning all the shipping grease (seriously it's as thick as cosmoline). Only issue is magazines cost an arm and a leg
>>34641067
I can't compare the CZ 512 to the Marlin 795, but I can tell you, the CZ 455 > 512.
>>34639121
Does the witness hold up well in comparison to a CZ?
>>34641452
ah yes, ol' click-clack
I'm gonna go buy my 3rd gill gun sometime this week. Can't get enough of them
>mfw all I want is a ported, integrally suppressed ruger 10/22 with a red dot sight to silently plink cans in my backyard but I can't because Europe
hold me /k/
>>34641452
What is that? Is it decent? One of my acquaintances was trying to sell something quite similar for 200. Wasnt sure if it was worth that much so passed on it .
>>34638399
.22LR pistols aren't a meme if you actually go to shooting instead of shitposting over the internet.
To me, they have also the huge advantage to be easy shooters in those days when you'd like to shoot some but don't really feel to go to the shooting range with all your stuff, calibers, etc.
So you just pack the pistol, a WD-40 can and a couple boxes of such inexpensive .22LR ammo and you're good to go, you "scratch that itch" without the hassle of the money for centerfire ammo, recoil, etc.
>>34639490
what's that yellow ball-ish thing? a reactive target?
>>34638314
My fav would be my CZ 452 since I've also got a M60.
Pic related. Cheers from Italy.
>>34643791
Yeah, you shoot it and it bounces around a bit. It works relatively well of you hit it with something fat that doesn't zip right through.
Fucking love my 455 Varmint.
>>34638399
Ruger mark iv lite is pretty dope, especially with a can on it.
>>34638663
what do you think about them?
I'm looking at buying a brand new one to have fun with
>>34638314
An XT 22 was the first gun I ever shot, way back in summer camp
>>34638314
GSG 522. It's like having an MP5 that can double as a small game gun. I heard they have issues with jamming but my newer one runs smoothly even without lube. My only gripe is i got the plastic one and it feels like airshit, but it's light enough to keep in a backpack. Also wish 15-20 round mags were still available.
>>34639069
And tasty
>>34638314
Brno mod. 4 / ZKM 456
It's like a CZ 455, except good.
>>34639073

>>34644401
>Brno mod. 4 / ZKM 456
That's like taking an LS3 and throwing it in a Tacoma and saying "It's like a Tacoma, except good"
Christ, you hipster fuck, literally *anything* to be different.
>>34646206
I'm glad someone got it.
>>34638314
I actually had an XT-22, but CZ 452 trumps pretty much everything unless you get into the really fine biathlon rifles.
>>34638314
I have a Mossberg 151k I got from my grandma, it used to belong to my late grandpa. Shoots very smoothly and is real accurate too, I love it.
>>34646502
Any reason to choose the cz 452 over the 455?
>>34646661
Other than better fit and finish what does a CZ have over say a savage in terms of accuracy?
ruger American 22 lr, they can use 10/22 mags.
>>34638663
Sell it to me
>>34638314
I like the SR22 because it is a fun pistol.
>>34638399
It's super cheap so you can goof around and not worry about the cost.
I have a mossberg 151m (bottom) that I really like.
>>34639382
>22long, .22lr,
Aren't those the same thing?
My Sears Model 25, handed down to me as my first rifle from my dad. I believe it was manufactured in 1959.
>>34649004
22 long is smaller
"In 1887 the .22 Long case was combined with the heavier 40 grain (2.6 g) bullet of the .22 Extra Long of 1880 to produce the .22 Long Rifle giving a longer overall length, a higher muzzle energy and superior performance as a hunting and target round, rendering the .22 Long and .22 Extra Long obsolete."
>>34649004
22 long uses a shorter bullet but same case
nugget
>>34638314
Just shot this today for the first time at my friend's house, it's his grandfather's and is a little beat up but pretty accurate. Forgot to take a pic so I just grabbed this from Google.
>>34639097
That looks awesome, looks expensive as well. How comfortable is it?
>>34649148
>That looks awesome, looks expensive as well. How comfortable is it?
It's very comfortable, but it took a while to get it set up. I'm still experimenting with small adjustments to the geometry.
>>34638314
My new favorite rimfire rifle, though I would be lying if I didn't wish this were in a bottlenecked centrefire calibre such as 5.7x28. My plan is to tacticool the living shit out of this.
I have a CZ455 American Synthetic that I have a few plans to pretty-up, get a proper optic rather than the shitty TRS-25 I have on it currently, and most likely get a new stock for it.
>>34649148
ayy I have one of those
My favorite is my WZ-48. A .22lr nugget - what could be better?
>>34646299
More like a Springfield made M1 Garand and a "Springfield" made M1A, you dipshit.
Does anyone here have experience installing sling swivel studs to mount bipods? Looking for tips on getting them centered and straight without machine tools.
One day I'll jump through all the hoops to get me a suppressor.
>>34651791
Get a proper suppressor host too while your at it.
>>34643888
On one hand TKAM is pretty basic, on the other hand, the taste for underboob denotes a character of fair refinement.
Also, nice lucky chink trips.
>>34651818
Why's that?
nothing better than a CZ
P-01 and a buckmark camper or a full size tanfoglio 9mm steel cz clone with a .22 slide?
Just got a Marlin M15Y from a buddy in exchange for my tropentarn. Just needed to be reassembled. Shoots good, but is missing about an inch of rifling at the muzzle end.
Is .22 still hard to find in the US? What is the superior round for cheap plinking these days?
>>34649684
How much was it? After shooting it I want one.
>>34655534
Over here in New York it's back to being relatively cheap, you can get 100 rounds of CCI or Winchester Super X over here for about $8, or 500 rounds for $20. For the absolute cheapest plinking I either shoot my .22s or my air guns to go even cheaper.
>>34656045
$125, but it's in perfect condition. Mine is the M34. Slightly different
>>34646661
The 452 has a really slick bolt throw. I can work it with my pinky. I've never shot any other .22 bolt gun as smooth.
The 455 has swappable barrels for .17 and .22 mag but the same kind of gritty, stiff bolt throw as the XT22.
>>34648742
I find the CZ irons easy to read and the wood is nice.
It probably shoots better than most cheap bolt action .22s but I'm not good enough for that to be noticeable. It just feels nicer.
>>34655534
I still haven't seen a box in a store since Sandy Hook, but online prices are sane enough that the drought is more or less over.

you can't pick it up at walmart anymore because they're almost always out of stock, but Bass Pro Shops/Cabela's has shelves of it for acceptable prices. I think I paid like $4.50 for 50 rnds of federal game shok a couple weeks ago. You can also order it online everywhere.
