What military helmet is the most aesthetic? And why is it the PASGT?
>>34623848
M-35.
>>34623848
Because it looks most similar to German Stahlhelms,

That looks fucking stupid buddy. Why are they wearing wooodland camo vests with desert clothing? Does that not defeat the purpose of the camouflage?
Anyway. German stahlhelms look pretty nice with covers.

The helmet looks fucking stupid and so does the camo buddy.

The US Military only had a limited number of DCU vests available on hand at the start of the War on Terror.
Hell, some of the troops sent into Afghanistan in 2001 were still wearing six color DBDU.
>>34625216
Why do these spec ops types always run around in rock climbing helmets? They don't look particularly effective.
>>34625249
They're intended for room-to-room combat where you're gonna be bumping your head a lot.
I love my pasgts

>>34625407

>>34623895
>that Flecktarn
Is there a more aesthetic camouflage pattern (other than Tiger Stripe, obviously)?
>>34625216
The idea at the time was that kevelar was too hevy, and if you got head shotted, you were out of the fight anyway... also the 1st gen little birds could not handle the weight of all the operators, so wight cuts were made to protective equipment to get necessary lift.
(now these problems have been overcome)

It has the best shape. I have worn the PASGT, MITCH, ACH, and Op Core. I think the USMC got it right with the Lightweight Helmet. Lighter weight, improved suspension system. A good ground combat helmet should have a brim, full coverage, a 4 point suspension system, and be light enough and comfortable enough to wear all day. I would love to see a good modern full cut thermoplastic helmet. I do not like trend toward making everyone look like they opr8.

>>34635721
The main thing holding back mass surp import if shipping, rising fuel costs and conglomeration of international frieght means that even if you et a bulk order for 15 dollars per you'd need a business account and a distribution network that will bump up the costs to at least 60-70 dollars per vest putting you more or less at current market prices.

Early on, lack of standardization in the use of camo meant a lot of French camo was used, along with sporadic use of M 81 US surplus camo. Nowadays, the IDF tends toward using desert/urban as appropriate, though woodlands will be seen near green zones.

I know some engineers who upgrade and maintain weapons systems for the air force. Cool job and a nice pension but yearly pay is quite low for a computer engineer. Anyway, One of the funniest things I've heard they had just integrated some bullshit into an f-35 when the military decided to send it over to the Netherlands or some shit for training/cooperative exercise. So, engineering team is monitoring the flight system while they have a pilot fly it over the Atlantic when all the warnings start popping up. Everyone starts to freak thinking they were about to brick a X hundred million dollars. Turns out, some idiot (none of them would fess up) added a pilot accessible usb port to the new and improved touchscreen interface that was supposed to replace a bunch of the old mechanical/analog instrumentation. The pilot who was ferrying the plane then decided, hey, why not plug in my pocket flash drive on which I keep my porn stash and beat one off while the plane was on auto over the ocean. Needless to say, no more usb connections on the instrument panel.
>>34646330

Military software testing standards are nuts because bugs an be catastrophic. Worst bug team has ever encountered was some sort of pointer error which could cascade and result in releasing weapons from rails without a fire command being issued.
