This is what power looks like.
I don't know why countries don't make anti-ship ships. They are all anti air or anti submarine. The u.s makes sense because it has 10 air craft carriers. Russia seems the only country to have anti-ship ships. Most western ships just have 8 harpoons bolted on.

They do, they tend to be submarines.
We do they're called Arleigh Burke guided missile destroyers

>Most western ships just have 8 harpoons bolted on
You're wrong, all American DDGs and CGs carry enough anti ship missiles. Aircraft,as World War II has shown, are more dangerous and a bigger concern anyways. That and subs of course.
>>34622323
Burkes are loaded with tomahawks and sm3
That sexy thing in OPs pic is designed to take on other surface ships or glass a continent
I remember when Russia started rolling 5 of these bad boys out the Americans recommissioned the Missouri
>>34622051
Most modern missile boats are equipped with both anti-ship and anti-air missiles
>>34622338
>as World War II has shown
>americans literally unironically use WW2 doctrine
>>34622894
Has nothing to do with "using a doctrine" from WW2. ALL nations understand that the greatest threat to ships or anything at all really are aircraft. Yes, even your precious slavs
>>34622879
Of course they only built four of those 'bad boys' and now they have one because Russia can't into maintenance.
But hey, by 2020 they might have two and the other two will probably be a nice wholesome nuclear incident for everyone to deal with.
>>34622894
Because there's so much large scale naval combat that has occurred 1945-2016. Mainly just little crap and England pantsing some Argie junk.
>>34622051
Because the Soviets didn't have a surface fleet of worth.
Things will change with China building a more conventional large navy and not just doing that soviet submarine spam.
>>34622909
the greatest threat to ships or anything at all are missiles

surrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
>>34622992
Good luck carry significant anti-ship missiles on your F-18.
>>34623009
sup
>>34622992
A Super Bug can carry 4 harpoons.
A US carrier can easily put out a strike group of 36 super bugs with plenty of planes to spare for CAP.
There is not a single surface ship that can alone fend off that kind of missile spam.
The russian idea that a single or a few strong ships can take on a carrier is flawed.
>>34623016
How many Jamaicans fit in that sled?
50 year old piece of junk.
>>34623009
A single Harpoon that smacks down among the antennas on a Kirov will make it blind and force it back to port for months of repair.
A hornet carries multiple harpoons and they come in groups.
>>34623059
A single kirov may have upwards of 300 aa missiles, including a bunch of long range ones, and has lots of ciws.
>>34623016
>see plane with (stealthy) missile coming at you
>plane turns around at known max launch range
>expect stealthy missile and train all radars
>missile suddenly not so stealthy anymore
Why put a stealthy missile on a platform like the F-18 ?
Two exocet missiles weren't even capable of sinking a frigate.
Fighter launched anti-ship missiles lack the punch to damage anything larger.
>>34622051
There is no anti-ship, there is no anti air, there is no anti-submarine. There are only two kinds of seaborne vessel: submarines and targets.
>>34623081
Its not a "stealthy" missile.
>>34623081
>thinking you launch at high altitude
Lmao
