Eberlestock Gunslinger Backpacks are cool af. They are a bit pricy but i got one on sale for around 180$ and i still haven't filled it up. Took it on a three day hike and had room to spare. I highly recomend one with the hip belt shit. Saves your back soo much.

Seconding. It's perhaps the nicest pack on the market below that price. Try to get it on sale to save more.

If you're on a budget, Kelty is a good brand. I'm sure you could find something surplus, but it'd be a lot heavier.

The ILBE is good, but I'd recommend heavily modifying unnecessary straps to reduce the weight. Unmodified, it's pretty heavy.
>>
>>34623545
no frame/5, wouldn't buy
>>
>>34623562
I use the Redwing 50. It works alright for 3 days, depending on how you pack and the season, you can get more or less.

I dislike how far it hangs from the body though, I'd prefer a pack that was oriented more vertical. If you're looking for a budget oriented pack, it works great though.

>>34622166
Eberlestock is the shit and I am envious of your bag.

>>34621612
Mystery ranch SATL. MR in my opinion makes the most comfortable packs to wear, but they are expensive and dont have alot of details on their website so its kind of a blind buy.

Survival backpacks - aka backpacks

Ive done 2 weeks before in sub-freezing temps using a 65L with room to spare

If you know what to bring and what not to bring you can get by with a 50L

I recently got this for a decent price. I haven't had a chance to put it to hard use yet, but all the reviews on the net that I've seen and read have been excellent. I have loaded it up wit about 40 lbs of stuff and it feels pretty comfy still.

Amazing thing is I got it at Gander Mountain for $150 cash out the door (it's usually $180). That store is still shit though

30l, can be over packedm have 2 massive side pouch with space for spade or axe
>>
>>34624498

I got one of these with the built in gun bag and cumberbund, its not good tho becasue the gun slides through the main pocket of the pack
>>
>>34624514
it also pretty cheap, under 100 dollar

the problem is it is Russia

but your can find it in ebay or only Russian gear shop
>>
>>34623562
I can second this, I use my redwing 50 as my daily carry pack too since it can be compressed to a smaller size when the load is lighter.
>>
>>34624520
I figured that one was more of a meme than anything else, that's why I decided to go with the regular pack they make. Neat idea, I just don't think it lives up to in practicality.
>>
>>34623545
served with that thing, it's horrible. Most of the guys replaced them with mil-tec assault packs.
Off cause there are the gear whores with tasmanian tiger gear.

Basically you take an Alice pack and replace the Alice straps + waist belt with MOLLE straps and MOLLE kidney belt. It balances the weight a lot better and makes the back much more comfortable to wear+ and carry heavy loads over distance. It's pretty easy to and the straps+ belt don't cost that much. Pic related

Hazard 4 Patrol pack

The version they make that can carry a rifle like the other anon mentioned is called the Overwatch.
>>
>>34627171
>lacking skill
>wanting to carry the weight on your hips instead of your shoulders like a poorfag nigger
know the difference.
>>
>>34627165

Owned an EDC, played with a Litespeed.
The packs are well-designed if a bit too focused on MUH MOLLE COMPATABILITY but the shoulder straps and back were not designed by someone with significant knowledge of load carriage or distribution on the human body. They're very gucci tactical if you don't want to be a pleb with a 5.11 or Maxpedition bag, but in all honesty they don't carry that well. The moment I tried a Mystery Ranch yoke and support system I could never go back. Get something from the Ranch or Hill People Gear- trust me when I say that a bag built around properly distributing weight will completely change your view of what makes a good bag.
>>
>>34629712
Either of those companies have clamshell opening packs that open completely in half, with PALS webbing, that are about the size of the litespeed? From what I gathered looking at Mystery ranch, they mostly have that stupid Y patern zipper and hills people gear has no virtually no PALS on the packs. Closest I found to what I want is the MR ASAP and that has a fucking 1inch. Why did they even bother with a belt at that point?
>>
>>34629712
Also I forgot to thank you for replying and giving me some feedback on the TAD.

I looked. It is pricey. Is the quality pretty good? I don't mind spending the money on something provided it's not shit.
>>
>>34621612
Literally anything with lots of pockets/straps.

>oversimplification general
pockets and straps add weight. most backpacking packs have one large main pocket, and one or two smaller pockets for keeping your map and sunglasses handy. if you need straps beyond the shoulder, waist, and maybe chest ones, your pack is too small or you're packing too much
>>
>>34630837

Not really. MR is all about the tri-zip (which I personally prefer to clamshell but that's a whole other story). HPG tends towards pretty minimalist designs using ITW hardware to attach parts rather than PALS, with the exception of their Aston House pack which has expandable storage and a certain amount of modularity built in.

As for the ASAP, the belt is built for stabilization and nothing more. Given the size of the ASAP the harness distributes any weight you can fit in it properly- the belt is merely there for stabilization. TAD's packs ride high enough that they don't even include a belt at this point, which is one of the reasons they don't carry that well.

The closest pack I know of to what you're looking for would be the previous gen MR 3DAP- it's easily identifiable by the vertical PALS on the back vs horizontal on the newer design. Far more robust waist belt than the ASAP, bottle pockets and ski slits, PALS and compression straps on the bottom. I'd also look into TAD's new Spectre line- no major reviews thus far, but they look to be much better designed and use an adjustable yoke.

>>34631071
I have nothing to personally add but I'd advise you to listen to the episode of the Beyond the Kill podcast where the host discusses why he moved away from Eberlestock to a Metcalf.
>>
You're doing it wrong, OP. You pick the gear then find a bag the fits the gear.
>>
K doesn't know shit about Inwoods, go to out, k is all about the molliest, heaviest sack of shit they can find on amazon. Get lightweight hiking backpack, learn to lightweight pack 30lbs max and you're good. Waterproof gear too.
