It's more accurate, lighter, and cheaper than it's peers, which makes FALfag trips and old fudds with M1As butthurt.

Are you 12? Over engineering is when you make a design that is more mechanically complex than it needs to be. A Rube Goldberg machine would be an extreme example.

I have one of these fucking things. It is a springfield sar8 overstamp. It's a fucking meme. The strength needed to pull back the charging handle varies from lifting a finger easy to diamond dick hard. The firing pin assembly makes me wonder how much meth the nazi designer was on when he made it.

Curious as to why. Is it the charging handle, the safety placement, mag release, or recoil?
I almost got a ptr because of being a poorfag but stacked my shekels and got a l1a1 instead so whatever you say will make me feel good.
At least you can hk slap and I can't.
>>
>>34619313
>over-engineered
>upper receiver is mostly one sheet of steel stamped and formed
>action isn't even locked, the bolt is a weight delayed by rollers

It's actually a really simple weapon. I'd sooner call the AR15 over-engineered but honestly it works perfectly so I can't even say that.

>>34619345
The cheapest way into a battle rifle that doesn't suck, rather.
The C308 is a little bit cheaper but it's also a horrible Century abortion.

>>34619390
It's more about 'lockup', HK91s, typical milspec G3s and current PTR91s are all pretty alright, but they're not really more consistently repeatable in 'lockup' than most rifles. The bolt is inline, sure, which helps, but the action is also pretty violent and the bolt just pretty much get slammed in place each time, and typical milspec rollers are a little bit sloppy (though functional), leading to very minute differences.

It's more that a roller-delayed blowback rifle built in a style similar to this can have a pretty amazing accuracy potential, see the PSG-1, it's based on a G3/HK91, but it's also pretty different in places that mater, the bolt for instance, it's set up in a way to give a much more repeatable and consistent 'lockup'.

This is one of the most parroted cliches in the gun world second only to "40 has snappy recoil". It's has slightly more recoil than the FAL.

To do list go this year:

>save up gbp (I'm @ 950 currently)

>purchase ptr91 a3r

>buy about 10 mags @ 5 bucks a pop

>slap on an aim point PRO

>keep it loaded with Hornady 110 grain TAP, backed up with mags of m80 to turn some cover into concealment

>laugh at .223fags
>>
>>34619981
Sorta partially.

The STG45 was thought up as a cheaper and better alternative to the STG44 (which, let's face it, wasn't a very good rifle, and was pretty expensive). There was development of a roller locked rifle with a gas piston, but one of the researchers studied this very thoroughly because he had noticed something and it played back in his mind over and over.
Doing some of his own experiments, he came up with his own variant, the STG45(m), which had no gas piston, and wasn't locked, the rollers were set up to plain delay the bolt, and this worked (after also floating the chamber to assist extraction, as delayed blowback rifles tend to open a bit early). This was much cheaper than both the STG44 and STG45, and plans were made to start mass producing it.

But the war was pretty much over as all this happened, like basically the day they had loaded all the tooling up on a train. Since Nazis had just happened and Germany was currently occupied, no military for you, so the guy and some of his pals went elsewhere in Europe, where there was a market or arms development and sales. They ended up at CETME in Spain, where much further development happened, this is where the HK91/G3 really started to come into form.
There were lots of early G3 facsimiles developed there in Spain, one in 7.92x33mm, then some in .30 Carbine even, and one in a 7.65mm intermediate rifle cartridge that never went anywhere. 7.62x51mm NATO would basically be the cartridges they were going for in the final rifles (also 7.62x51mm CETME, which was basically just a different load)
>>

Does the HK91 carry handle Fits the PTR 91 scout carbine? I know it fits the normal PTR91s but the SC has a rail welded to it,
>>
>>34620045
Why not get a vortex Strike Eagle instead of an aimpoint? I like red dots, but a variable optic will really let you take advantage of using .308.

The rifle ejects casings at very high speeds, usually this leads to the casing being smashed against the side of the receiver and horribly dented. You can evens see brass marks on the receivers of frequently shot guns, just behind the ejection port.

There does however exist attachments called Port Buffers, which you attach to the receiver and which will cushion the impact, saving basically all casings from being mauled by the impact.
There'll be some fluting marks along the casing from the extraction process, but those don't affect the life of casings, seemingly.
>>
>>34623581
