So now that Ian is doing videos on Berthiers, maybe there are more of you Berthier lovers on here? I dunno. But I bought a Berthier BeforeItWasCool™ last year. Fucking love it, but I've always had the issue that the en-bloc clips don't fit inside the gun. They go in about halfway then get wedged against the wall of the internal magazine; specifically the internal band in the middle of the wood and not the metal extension protruding outside the bottom in the 1916 models.
Does anyone have any clue why they don't fit? I reeeaaallly don't want to drop $100 on a new 1916 internal magazine w/trigger group mechanism just for that one also to have clip feeding problems.
Two more pics to follow
I got a couple more to illustrate exactly where it gets stuck
I have a Berthier and some clips but I can't get to them right now. Make this thread again in about two weeks and I'll be able to take some pictures of mine for comparison to help you.
Try the milsurp thread
Bump? :<
They are some beautiful looking rifles and the clip system is interesting considering the time they were made.
Unfortunately I cannot justify buying yet another gun with an obscure cartridge right now.Maybe sometime in the future.
