> $60/yr fees
> rifle range goes from 1-300yd
> Several trap launchers off to one side, although one keeps breaking
> Two pistol/rimfire ranges when one isn't a muddy shit hole after a storm.
> small campground in the back
> Voice activated regulation trap range, for league use only
> Only "bad" rules are no exploding targets, and no pistols on the rifle range and vice versa
> I'm often there on the weekdays, so I usually have the place to myself to dick around as much as I like.

It's real nice, although recently they've had to tighten the rules on how many non members you can bring along since people kept abusing the rules and the range got trashed.

My range is a private gun club $35/year membership fee. We have a trap range, pistol range, archery range, and rifle range out to 200yds. I've never gone to any of the events we host (I figure volunteering at the annual grounds clean-up day is enough good karma for me) so I can't speak to our range officers. It takes me about 25 minutes to get there from home, half of which is just getting out of the city.

Yeah that's my usual. But they said I can't bring my AR's there unless they're featureless.

I got grandfathered before the ban this last year so I have a pistol grip and no maglock. They told me I couldn't bring them unless I registered them as Assault Weapons or make them featureless.

So I need a new range now.

What the actual fuck is up with Florida gun clubs being so god damn expensive compared to all the others mentioned in this thread? I just want to be able to join one and use some decently longer range rifle lanes, but almost all the clubs are way too expensive to justify the membership. Feels like I'm better off waiting until I can afford a few more acres and setting up my own shit

I shoot at the NRA Range in fairfax since am stationed in the area
>indoors
>range is 50 yards
>no firing speed rule bullshit
>15 dollar admission
>well lit and ventilated
>usually pretty easy to find a spot on a Saturday afternoon
>range staff is friendly enough, gives me free foam earbuds so I can double up
As someone who primary shoots rifles, it could definitely be worse. I usually take new shooters to the museum too, in hopes of piquing their interest further in firearms.
>>
>>34618386
Comparing to some places that's not that expensive. I live in Virginia and most private ranges cost at least $350 dollars a year.

At least my friend has access to the best range in the state bar CMP Talledega
>>
San Leandro Rifle & Pistol Range just south of Oakland, CA.

>Combo outdoor/indoor range
>Pistol range indoors; 25/50 and 100 yard ranges outside, covered shooting stations (good in intense California sun).
>$25 for non-members, $15 for members, but getting a membership is just a matter of taking a safety quiz.
>Technically that price is for an hour, but I've never seen them watch the clock, especially on weekdays. Last time I was there I shot my muzzleloader for three hours straight and nobody said a thing. And yes, they do let you fire black powder, which is a bit unusual for ranges around here.
>The good news is that they don't check to see if your assault weapon is properly registered with the state, so people are there with them all the time and nobody cares. This includes officers from the two local police forces who train there.
>The bad news is that they are VERY strict about what ammo you can use. No shotguns (except slugs), no FMJ, no magnetic or steel-case ammo. Unlike their attitude toward assault weapons, they are VERY serious about these rules and I've personally seen them kick multiple people out of the range for violating them.
>No holsters except law enforcement or their weekly steel shoot.
>Technically they require optics on the 100 yard range, but they've never enforced it when I've been there with one of my milsurps.
>Brass jewing is prohibited; you're only allowed to collect what you shot yourself.
>RSOs are grouchy bastards if they think you're intentionally violating the rules or being unsafe, but actually very helpful if you as questions or let them know you're new at this and need help.

All in all bretty gud.
>>
>outdoors, covered, no walls between benches

Shoot on grandfathers land a few miles e of the small town i live in. Last time i went shooting cops were called and they told me I needed a backstop to shoot even though ive shot there a lot and had no problems with the lead exiting the property because there is 10s of meters of thick brush right behind where my target stand is and i always shoot at a downward angle from no more than 20 meters away. Im going to finally get some dirt, build a berm and make part of it into my own little shooting range.
>>

>>
>>34620071
Also, does anyone have any tips on how to make a proper berm for AR and AK shooting? Next time the neighbors (one that lives like 100 meters away from my shooting area) try to complain and call the cops im going to have the safest shooting area and the most well constructed berm they have ever seen. Neighbors are assholes that dont like me shooting because theyre scared im going to hit their house or some shit even though its way off to the right of me.
>>
I shoot at the same one as Royal Nonesuch. It's a free range owned by the state, but they put these godawful roof things up because I guess people bitched about how someone might shoot up in the air and kill someone 2 miles away. Not only do those things so low they stop you from being able to shoot from any postion other than sitting at the concrete tables, but it makes everything louder as well. Only the two pistol positions at the range are spared from such a fate.

Nice that the place is free and has free paper targets, I just want to be able to get my own place where I don't need to deal with their bullshit rules and roofs.
>>
Anyone know any good ranges in PA?
>>
>>34619968
No FMJ and nothing magnetic. They even have a shower magnet on a rope at the front desk and if your ammo sticks to it, you're SOL.
>>
>>34620125

Not that I have to worry about that (no neighbors), I do have a berm setup. Cost me nothing.

>got free wood from craigslist
>got free dirt and sand from craigslist
>got about 200 free used tires from craigslist
>got free cinderblocks from craigslist
>big piece of steel that was already on the property when I moved in

Tires filled with dirt and sand stacked, then the piece of steel, then cinderblocks mortared in the back, then a wood frame around everything to make it look pretty.

It has taken multiple hits from a .50 without penetration, but I'm usually shooting .22, 5.56, .40, and 6.5 Carcano

>Each neighbor is more than 100 metera away from my stand
>The width of the property is about 50 meters and im dead in the center of it at the front gate
>My stand is no more than 15 meters away from me
>The stand is just under 4ft tall
>I am a little over 6ft tall probably shouldering a rifle at 5 1/2 ft
>thick ass brush starts at around 20 meters behind the stand
>I shoot clay discs
>There are 2 neighbors one either side of the property
>one neighbors house is directly to the right of me around 100 meters away
>other neighbor is definately over 100 meters away and doesnt mind me shooting at all despite him having horses around his property
>Nothing at all except brush is behind my stands for over 200 meters then there is an abandoned storage shack and after that just woods for miles
With all of your advanced knowledge of firearms and ballistics would you say my shooting arrangement is unsafe under normal circumstances?

Ive heard that tires can actually deflect .22 lr bullets if your shooting from a good distances away. I want to set up a berm at around 50 meters and i dont want any kind of bullets doing that shit. I was thinking just dumping a good amount of dirt and putting wood supports all the way around with tarp on top to prevent it from turning to mud before grass and shit can grow in it to keep it stable.

Because it takes time to do that shit and I only shoot out there once every couple weeks at most so why would I waste time and effort doing something that would give othersthe illusion that theyre safer when the arrangement is in no way unsafe for them? Literally wasting time and money for other people to think theyre more safe, I didnt give a shit until cops were called and couldnt find anything wrong except "oh you dont have a berm thats unsafe, oh theres nothing behind the stand for miles? Two ranges near Tucson operated by the county. Good: 10 to 300 yards, maybe 500. Costs like $8 a day. RSOs on duty, seem pretty competent. Bad: always some fucker in the next lane magdumping an SBR or something. "Hurr, this is gonna be loud, sorry." Worst experience:
> zeroing my .22
> wearing hat with EGA
> senile fudd with USMC tats appears in next lane
"Hurr, Semper Fi"
> nod and go back to shooting
> grandpa literally dumps bag of handguns and lose ammo on table
> starts loading handguns and putting them back on table sideways pointed directly at me
> RSO notices and warns him
> grandpa mumbles and starts magdumping several pistols
> throws cracked and torn pleather soft case on table

Fuck fudds. Lucky I was there with 5 or 6 friends who laughed him off.

Any DFW anons here who can recommend a place? So many ridiculously overpriced members only ranges around here, or ranges with stupid rules (no FMJ, 1 shot every 2 seconds, no irons on 100m range, just fuck my shit up desu senpai)

>Indoor
>Only goes up to 30meters
>Was an army range before, the sand we shoot at was never changed and there is probably more lead than sand now
>We have to walk down range to set up our targets, no electronic system
>Not dumb rules, just don't shoot like a maniac and follow the safety rules

>a guy got banned because he was shooting his illegal (we need to have authorisations for all our guns and he didn't since he bought it on the black market) FAL like a maniac

Either
>unsupervised public range
>25yd, 50yd and 100yd bays
>covered concrete benches
>usually not too crowded on weekdays

Or
>local sporting club, slightly further than public range and requires $20 use fee if not a member
>extremely limited hours
>1000yd range with steel targets from 400-1000

Not my only options, but my preferred ones. Northern CO is great for shooting.

>indoor
>sand
>walk down range to set up targets

I've never heard of an indoor range that didn't have a steel back stop and electronic target retrieval.
>>
>>34622432
It's a small range in Belgium
>>
>>34622432
Army zero ranges are always like that, you walk out and check your target every few rounds, its a very tedious system but they like it for some reason. It's probably just because there's less equipment downrange for morons to put holes in.

Riefschnieder state forest has a free unstaffed range that's empty on weekdays. Like an hour or so from downtown.

nice, I joined wild west because the CFO wouldn't renew my RPAL without being a range member (just moved from Ontario)

I'm in Calgary though, hard to find a good range :(
>>

Not OP, but SLOSA is great. $10 and you can shoot all day.

If I can, I like to go into the National Forest down in Santa Ynez. It's closed most of the year for fire restrictions though

Hillsdale range in Hillsdale, KS.
>$15 entrance fee
>100 and 200yd rifle ranges, 50yd pistol/shotgun range, skeet range
>ROs are all volunteers, most of which are really chill old retired guys that have a passion for firearms
>the ROs actually ask everyone when theyre ready for a ceasefire
>never had any problems with brass goblins
>part of a state park so it's well maintained and the entrance fee gives you access to the lake which is right across the street.
The only downside is that they're only open on weekends, so theres usually a lot of people there
>>
>>34616797
that place is nice and the ROs are total broskis

There's this place on public land outside of the city to the west. You have to drive over a bunch of big boulders until you get to this curved trail that runs alongside a cliff. Everyone parks and stands on the trail and shoots into the cliff. It's off highway something-12. I haven't lived in Denver in almost ten years...that's the best I can do direction-wise.

Shit, you should have just gone to pheonix.
They have a package that isnt really a range membership but its a way to be legal for the RPAL.

100$ last time I checked?Im pretty sure im wrong lol

But chas is only 170 for the whole year and its a really nice place.
>>
>>34621364
Sounds like Three Points. I used to go there with my dad a few times a year to sight in the hunting rifles. Haven't been to the other range by the fairgrounds since I don't live there anymore.

Have you ever made the trip to Parma Woods, up by the KC airport?

I live in Topeka, and that's the best outdoor range I've been to. It's worth my hour drive, because $3 per hour range fee, plus the gas to get there, costs less than any range around T-town. Plus the 100 yd. rifle range gets me at least half ass dialed in on my optics.

Kansas is shit-tier for /out/ or /k/ activities. Everyday that goes by, I yearn more to move to Missouri, like OP.
>>
>>34625906
If you want good outdoor activities move west, not east.
>>
>>34618386
No clue m8, the outdoor range I go to (near Punta Gorda) is 3 bucks to get in and offers everything. Sadly, the max range is only 200 yards
>>

Have you ever been to Missouri?

I love Missouri, Kentucky, and Tennessee. In my honest opinion, everything else pales in comparison.

I was born in Missouri. My grandparents used to have a place on Lake of the Ozarks. Missouri is a nice place, but it's only great for "outdoor activities" if your definition of such is limited to some combination of fireworks, boating, and alcohol.
>>
>>34626174

>if your definition of such is limited to some combination of fireworks, boating, and alcohol.

Wait, yours isn't?

I'm kidding. It's simply paradise compared to Kansas. Also, Missouri is strategically closer to places I like to visit, while still close to where I work. Moving West is just not in my best interest. I prefer the Midwest/"upper South."

>>34615928
Great range
Steel from 50-400 yards.
Elevated shooting positions if needed.
No real rules and NO RSOs standing over your shoulder.
5 pistol ranges as well.
100 yard zeroing range
CLAY pigeon Trap

105$ a year. Can't beat it
>>
>>34626370
I'm in the Puget Sound region, so my typical outdoor activities are a bit different.

Still love visiting Missouri though. No one around here can do BBQ right.
>>
>$50 annual fee
>no guests period
>range is almost empty
>pistol range is "hot", so long as holster completely cover trigger guard (except during competitions)
>holster work allowed
>voice activated trap
>100yd rifle range

In SC Wisconsin its next to impossible to find a range longer than 100yds simply due to the fact that the glaciers completely bypassed the area and as a result, there's very little flat land to make a range longer than 200m

I've heard some legends about the party cove that were pretty wild. Is it really like that?

Never been myself. My understanding is that it moves around as they wear out their welcome, and I don't think it was ever particularly close to their place.

I suspect it's pretty similar to Andrews Bay on Lake Washington during Seafair, though.
