probably some kind of snicker shoes lol

i once spent a couple of months on a rocky desert island (a scientific expedition) using some similar high boots and i hate that crap since that, they are very inconvenient to climb, hard for your feet and eventually they tear apart too
>>
>>34609734
I don't know about 'favorite' since I have only owned a few pair in my life. I currently wear a pair of Georgia Boot Diamond Trax, and they've been pretty good to me. Last time I wore them out, I got a little bit of rub on the ball of my foot, but after a year of regular wear, that's not a major criticism.

I'm thinking about picking up a new pair sometime after these get too worn out, so I'd love to see more suggestions.

strongly discouraged if you're in wet conditions. let the feet breathe.

>steel toe

>>
>>34615421
>let the feet breathe
Good point.
>what purpose
None. The boots I'm looking at are steel toed and I assume that it would restrict movement and even cause pain on long hikes.
>>
>>34615445
i'd skip it. no need for the extra weight on your feetsies.

I hike in FL, new hikers always show up in waterproof boots. They take a dip knee high and are miserable for the rest of the hike as they slosh around. get some good socks and carry a spare just in case, you'll be much happier.
>>
>>34612823
O-oh. Now I feel even worse for my motorcycle boots that I slogged through the snow in in Estonia and Russia.

I have one pair of comfy wool Carhartts, I was going to buy 5 or 6 more so I can rotate through. I had to wear the same boots and same pair of wool socks for 2 weeks (although I had a thin cotton ankle sock under the wool sock).

To elaborate on use, though, I need footwear(boots) that I can walk around in inside the city; commuting, errands, drinking until red in the face, etc.

Thanks though. I'm desert people and I have 0 experience in anything that isn't dry heat.
>>
The only boots I have found to be better than Danners and Whites are Meindl full height boots. Comfy enough to sleep in out of the box, leather holds up to snow and water, fairly light, never come untied. Im on my third pair in five years and wear them every day to work and for hunting and trapping all winter.
>>
>>34615510
>I need footwear(boots) that I can walk around in inside the city; commuting, errands, drinking until red in the face, etc.

I've been rotating through a couple pairs of Merrill Moab's for a few year for this purpose. They're pretty cheap, grip well and don't look too conspicuous.

They hold up OK innawoods, but they do wear quickly if your on hard rock.

There are things I know about; there I make better choices.

Then there are the things I don't know anything about, which is a greater volume than the things I know about; there I go "those look cool, price isn't bad. Bought!"

I've already put them in the "disposable," category based on this thread. Frankly, throwing them away means I don't have to bring them back with me, and I get to travel a little bit lighter or bring back more goods.

Suitable for all 4 seasons, easy and quick to change socks or let your feet breathe on breaks, need no maintenance, totally waterproof, etc so on.

Combat boots suck in long term forest warfare.

Also best for all kind of yard work. Combat boots are for larpers.

>>34633568
first of all, sorry for my bad english.
in my experience you are very wrong.
i used waterproof shoes and 'breathable' shoes.
the speed of dryness was more or less the same between the waterproof shoe and the breathable ones.
actually in my experience, the key in high humidity areas (70%+)
is the sock. the better the sock, the dryer your feet. also if you can find socks with copper fiber, your feet will remain bacteria free.
i have been in places where the temperature sometimes reached 50c, and my feet never boiled. sure it was hot, not only in my feet but everywhere, but using the 'breathable' shoes would not change a thing. dont mention the fact that all the breathing holes in the fiber are clogged so fast in salt water and sea sand. go through mud with breathable shoe and once it drys up, and its will probably begin to tear the fabric. maybe not in the first time of us but fast enough if you make the muddy roads into an habbit.

What are they? I too am replacing shitty issued boots my military gave me, may as well be wearing runners on the hills. Also does anyone know if Meindl Black Cobra GTX boots would be any good for intensive loaded marching, hillwalk w/ weight etc. in wet conditions? Pic related.

Rocky S2V. Half my regiment (infantry) has them. Pricey but it's fully worth it to make your life a lot more comfortable doing retarded army shit.
